2006-07-13 Thread Oana Serb

Hi,

A string change was made in orca, rolenames.py file. The "RadioMenuItem"
string was changed into "RadioItem" string in order to have a consistent
presentation with check menu item (presented as "CheckItem").

String change announcement

2016-08-28 Thread Alexandru Pandelea
Hello,

We have been working on GSoC for batch renaming project for Nautilus.

We have just received approval for a UI freeze exception and will be
merging this feature into 3.22, so there will be some new strings added.
More specifically, the new strings added are in the batch rename dialog.

Thanks,

Hi Alexander,

Usefulness of change announcements is severly limited if we don't know
which strings have changed. Not so much for translation (since we
have excellent status pages which detect most of those automatically),
but they might really affect documentation (since it's hard to find out
what needs to be changed in documentation, if anything).

So please try to provide us with more concrete data, and don't forget
to CC gnome-doc-list as well in the future, as per [1] and [2].

Thanks,

Its nothing really important. Some removals of untranslated strings,
some uses of ngettext, changing "Filesystem" to "File System".

to

"If you want to eject the volume, please use \"Eject\" in the popup menu

and

"If you want to unmount the volume, please use Unmount Volume in the

to

"If you want to unmount the volume, please use \"Unmount Volume\" in the

They show up when you try to drag a volume link on your desktop to the

Evolution string change announcement

2005-07-22 Thread shakti

Hi,

I have committed few patches which have new strings. They all are in
evolution/plugins/exchange-operations/ files. The strings are:

New Strings:
1) Subscribe to Other User's Tasks
2) Subscribe to Other User's Contacts
3) Subscribe to Other User's Calendar

Existing string:
1) Custom

The string "Custom" was existing earlier in exchange and now it is moved
to evolution/plugins.

The bug numbers are: #310837, #310985

Thanks,
Shakti

I can't speak for the i18n list, but for the docs list
could you please give a brief human-readable summary

Re: Evolution string change announcement

2006-07-12 Thread Li Yuan
Hi,

For the first patch, when new an event in calendar, I change the
mnemonic of "Calendar" entry from "alt+n" to "alt+c".

For the second patch, when navigate in Evolution calendar week view with
"tab", if there is not event in week view, the week view area will not
get the focus. The focus goes directly to date navigator. By using this
patch, the week view will get the focus before date navigator.
For more information, please see
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=345923

Actually I am not sure if the second one is UI change, just don't want
to miss something.

Thanks,
-Li

Unfortunately one string contains "help" instead of "search". The corrected
string is in CVS now and translations should be updated.

I just realized that I forgot to add a file with new strings to
POTFILES.in [1]. Is it a violation of the string freeze to fix
POTFILES.in now? If so, I request permission to break string freeze.
Otherwise, I'll just go ahead and fix it tonight.

String Change Announcement: new strings for Orca

2010-01-20 Thread Willie Walker

Greetings:

We added the following new strings to Orca's default.py module today:

# Translators: the 'flat review' feature of Orca
# allows the blind user to explore the text in a
# window in a 2D fashion. That is, Orca treats all
# the text from all objects in a window (e.g.,
# buttons, labels, etc.) as a sequence of words in a
# sequence of lines. The flat review feature allows
# the user to explore this text by the {previous,next}
# {line, word, character}. Previous will go backwards
# in the window until you reach the top (i.e., it will
# wrap across lines if necessary). This command will
# cause Orca to speak information about the current character
# Like its unicode value and other relevant information
#
_("Speaks unicode value of the current flat review character.")

# Translators: this is information about a unicode character
# reported to the user. The value is the unicode number value
# of this character in hex.
#
_("Unicode %s")

Thanks for all your hard work!

String change announcement in gnome-utils/dictionary

2006-07-24 Thread Emmanuele Bassi
Hi all;

I've just committed three new translatable strings in
gnome-utils/gnome-dictionary:

libgdict/gdict-database-chooser.c: _("Reload the list of available databases")
libgdict/gdict-database-chooser.c: _("Clear the list of available databases")
libgdict/gdict-speller.c: _("Clear the list of similar words")

This should be the last change in the strings of Dictionary.

Ciao,
 Emmanuele.

String change announcement for tracker + tracker-miners

2020-08-19 Thread Sam Thursfield via gnome-i18n
Hi translators,
We made some changes to Tracker's commandline tool which necessitated
string changes in tracker.git and tracker-miners.git. These strings
are only visible to CLI users, you can bear that in mind when
prioritising :)
Merge requests in question are
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/tracker/-/merge_requests/297 and
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/tracker-miners/-/merge_requests/249.

Seems that I was wrong. :-)

New strings added:

src/gdict-window.c: _("Database `%s' selected")
src/gdict-window.c: _("Word `%s' selected")
These strings appear when the user selects a database or
a word from the list inside the side bar.

src/gdict-window.c: _("Double-click on the word to look up")
src/gdict-window.c: _("Double-click on the database to use")
These strings are a hint for the user, when the page in the side
bar changes (a bit like Inkscape status bar hints).

and *this* should be the last change in the strings of Dictionary.

Ciao,
 Emmanuele.

String Change Announcement: 1 new string in nautilus

2018-08-03 Thread António Fernandes via gnome-i18n
Hello.

A new string was introduced here:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/commit/1dfc03550ebc0844bc471effe40382a56e87155c#d855ebf2ecfbaaecd54833ac8be4ecff855a6c1c_74_77

We already had "File name is too long." and "Folder name is too long.", so
"Archive name is too long." completes the set.

String Change Announcement - 1 new string in nautilus

2020-02-04 Thread António Fernandes
Hello.

A new translatable string has been introduced:

"There was an error getting information about the source."

We already had a similar string "There was an error getting information
about the destination." Both are used in error dialogs when copy/move
operations fail for these reasons.

gedit string change announcement; planned release April 1

2022-03-15 Thread Jeremy Bicha via gnome-i18n
Hi!

I am pushing a change now to gedit to change its display name from
"Text Editor" back to "gedit" like it was years ago.

GNOME Core has changed its text editor app from gedit to
gnome-text-editor for GNOME 42. The new gnome-text-editor has its
display name set to "Text Editor". Since people may have both apps
installed, it is good to use different names.

Please try to update your translations by March 31. I intend to
release gedit 42.0 on April 1.

Thank you,
Jeremy Bicha

String Change Announcement - 1 new string in nautilus

2022-08-10 Thread António Fernandes
Hello.

The "“%s” deleted" string has been changed to "“%s” moved to trash".

This string is displayed in a toast (attached screenshot). It's meant
to use consistent language with the "Move to Trash" menu item and
other trash-related translatable strings.

António

string change announcement in gnome-utils/gnome-dictionary

2006-01-13 Thread Emmanuele Bassi
Hi all.

The following translatable strings have been changed/added to
gnome-utils/gnome-dictionary, inside the src/gdict-applet.c file:

# these are tooltips of the window widgets
gdict-applet.c:327 "Clear the definitions found"
gdict-applet.c:341 "Print the definitions found"
gdict-applet.c:355 "Save the definitions found"

# these are the ATK name and description of the applet's toggle button
gdict-applet.c:491 "Toggle dictionary window"
gdict-applet.c:492 "Show or hide the definition window"

# this is the tooltip of the same toggle button
gdict-applet.c:495 "Click to view the dictionary window"

# this is the tooltip of the applet's entry
gdict-applet.c:554 "Type the word you want to look up"

# this is the main text of an error dialog
gdict-applet.c:720 "There was an error while displaying help"

# this is the main text of an error dialog
gdict-applet.c:1167 "Unable to load the applet icon"

For the documentation team: the applet has changed back to the
"icon-first-entry-last" layout for window clipping reasons; the images
for the manual inside help/C will be updated as soon as possible. I
also plan to finish the user's manual this week-end.

Ciao,
 Emmanuele.
