Well, actually, a fair bit of the graphical code on OS X comes from the NeXT operating system and graphics library. The older MacOS code has slowly been dropped from the Mac OS over the years. (The classic Mac OS actually used a Pascal interface. The current Mac OS uses Objective C.) -- Thomas A.
