gnucash in Debian

using 1.9 for the first time sucks
So I start 1.9.1, and after I navigate the startup screens, I select File>Open>Open and open my gnucash accounts file. I now must sit and wait while the damn thing starts rendering one of every report I ever requested in 1.8. This is obnoxious and foul.
