development version suitable for user testing?

2007-07-04 Thread Gernot Hassenpflug
I'd be happy to test the development version of GnuCash for debugging
purposes, but am hesitant to do so (there is no debian or ubuntu
package to make it easy) as I am not certain that it is intended for
users to test it. From the documentation on the GnuCash website I see
only some features and bug fixes, not really a summary of what is the
difference between the unstable and stable release. Do the developers
recommend ordinary users to try it out?

Yes. 2.1.5 is release candidate 2 ... 2.2.0 is imminent. Please try it out,
if possible.

I'm not sure what you're expecting, but as to the differences between the
stable (2.0.x) and unstable (2.1.x - 2.2) releases, I direct your attention
to the What's New in GnuCash 2.1.5? section of the announcement at
http://www.gnucash.org/#070702-2-1-5.news.

Language translations

2007-07-04 Thread sergiogodoy
Hi,

I'm trying gnucash, version 2.0.2, in portuguese.
There is a count named 'diverção', and the correct is 'DIVERSÃO'.

Thanks

Comment on interface

2007-07-04 Thread Vahur Lokk
Hi all!

Trying out Gnucash for my one-man-translation business (been using GC
for my family bookkeeping on and off for couple of years). One note
about business functions.
In a small business like mine amount of customers is not really very
big. I've got maybe 2-3 big ones plus bunch of smaller clients. The same
with vendors - I get bills from ISP, phone company, mobile company, car
lease and thats it. In order to pick a vendor from my huge 4-vendor list
I have to use search. First, its bit of an overkill and not very
convenient. Second, there is not a way to see, who I actually have in my
list. It might sometimes come in handy (think dupes etc.).
Maybe it would be more user-friendly to make some kind of list window
for customers and vendors where one can search if one so wishes?

thanks for reporting such a problem. However, we would need some more detail
to actually fix this. First of all, we have pt and pt_BR - which one are you?
Secondly, we would need the *exact* string including exact capitalization and
(possibly) a marked keyboard shortcut.

Thanks,

Christian

Judging from his e-mail address, he's using the Brazilian Portuguese
translation. I'm coordinating the (still little) translation update
and will search and fix the bug.

Thanks, I had read that. I just expected a bit more detail, but
granted, it is aimed at developers. I'll try it out. Main reason I ask
is because I'm a newbie, and because I want to help with translation
work (see my post asking about the Japanese translation).
