Re: Improved French Translation
I see you attached a "pot" file (the template file) instead of the "po" file (the actual translation). Is this intended? in the pot file I can see only five strings translated (Due Date, All Accounts, Net Price, Total Price, Invoice Date). The best way (for you as a contributor and for us as developers) to update an existing translation is to download it (here is the last version of the French translation: http://svn.gnucash.org/trac/export/20339/gnucash/trunk/po/fr.po ), edit it with a program like poedit (http://www.poedit.net/) and send it back to this list. If you want to read further information about translation workflow, take a look at this wiki page: http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Translation If you need more help feel free to ask! Re: 2.4.3 - not ready
Dear Phil, thanks for the release checking work. However, I do not agree with your conclusion here. Your newly discovered bug hasn't been reported before, so it can't be very severe (even though it appeared to be a crasher in your test). On the other hand, we already discussed and agreed that 2.4.2 contains serious bugs that have been fixed already (mysql crash on windows, erroneous duplicate invoice feature) and those fixes alone already justify an imminent 2.4.3 release. Hence, in this particular case I would have strongly preferred to have a 2.4.3 release ASAP, even though other bugs like the one you discovered is still existing. But the fixes for the other severe bugs will mean that 2.4.3 will already be a big improvement over 2.4.2. We can subsequently fix other bugs like the one you've seen here, and include fixes for those in subsequent releases. Thank you very much! Regards, Christian Zitat von Phil Longstaff : I tagged and built 2.4.3. It passes make check and make distcheck. However, when I run it, I get a segv when I close gnucash. The problem seems to be during the call to gnc_dbi_unlock(). While looking for the current process pid in the lock table, the sqlite3 error fn is called. According to valgrind, when setting the error code, this is an invalid write, past the end of valid memory. I think this should be tracked down and solved before 2.4.3. is released. ___ gnucash-devel mailing list gnucash-devel@gnucash.org https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-devel

Hi, Thanks for including updated translation. I use only Linux on my computers and I already tested updated LT translation with GnuCash 2.4.2 binaries from Ubuntu deb packages :) On Fri, Feb 25, 2011 at 08:16:44AM +0100, Cristian Marchi wrote: > The updated translation is now on revision 20339 and it will be in the > next stable release. Thank you very much for your contribution! The updated translation is now on revision 20339 and it will be in the next stable release. If you want to test it before GnuCash 2.4.3 is released, you can download a nightly build (and unstable) windows installer here: http://code.gnucash.org/builds/win32/trunk/ ; just check that the revision number in the name is at least 20339. In the next hours it should be available. Odd that it popped up now; that code hasn't been touched since 2.3.16. Untag 2.4.3 and I'll take a look at it tomorrow. Oh, are there any pertinent messages at the end of your gnucash.trace? If you left it at its default "http://svn.gnucash.org/repo/gnucash/trunk"; you are already building the latest development version. At this moment there is no separate stable and unstable branch. Since we are still in the early 2.4.x releases, there is no separate unstable development going on yet. Development is mostly focussing on fixing bugs in the stable releases. So for now, you could say "trunk" is both stable and unstable. The plan is that soon after the 2.4.3 release, stable and unstable will be split again with a new "2.4" branch tracking stable development (bugfixes), and "trunk" being open for true unstable development again (new features and experiments). Until that time, you are building stable and unstable in one go, since there's no difference between the two currently. You mean fixing the readme file ? - make a copy of the file - modify it to your likings - create a unified diff (with the unix command diff -u fileA fileB - attach the result as a patch to a new bug report in bugzilla That's the formal way. Since it's a file that is rarely modified and your changes are probably fairly straightforward, I would also be ok with it if you simply sent the modified file as an attachment to the list. For simple changes that works fine as well. >From there me or another dev can commit the file to svn. Unexpected GnuCash Server Downtime: All Services Restored
Hi All, You may (or may not) have noticed that the GnuCash Email, SVN, etc. server was down since Tuesday. The server should be back up now (as of 13h14 US/EST) and all services should be running normally again. Please let me know if you see any issues. Failure breakdown: In short, the system lost a CPU fan (again!) and it shut down due to overheating. I replaced the fan and the system came up again. Long version: (Note that all times are in US EST (GMT-5)). I know the server was still alive as of 11am on Tuesday when I was in the Johannesburg airport and checking my email waiting for my flight. I know that it had shutdown sometime before 5pm EST on Wednesday when I tried to access it from Newark airport, the next time I had Network access. (The timing of this failure was spectacularly convenient considering I've been halfway around the world for the past three weeks!) When I finally got home at 11:30pm on Wednesday I noticed the system completely turned off; I powered it on and it started to come up, but 10 minutes later the overheating alarm came on. Considering my jetlagged, exhausted self (and the annoying noise it was making) I decided to shut the system down again overnight and deal with it this morning. This morning I opened up the box and discovered that one of the CPU cooling fans failed. Strangely this was the same CPU that had a failed fan in September. This time, however, instead of burning out it had thrown a baring. Since this was the same model as the original I decided I needed something better for this CPU so I started researching better cooling fans and found one available from Fry's Electronics. I went out this morning, purchased the cooler, and then installed it into the system. The main system was powered up at 12:24 today and then all the VMs slowly came back up. Many of the VMs decided to FSCK due to the unclean shutdowns and finally the last VM returned to service at 13:23. I'm sorry if the downtime caused any inconveniences. As I said, the timing was as perfect as it could have been considering my travel schedule this month! -derek -- Derek Atkins, SB '93 MIT EE, SM '95 MIT Media Laboratory Member, MIT Student Information Processing Board (SIPB) URL: http://web.mit.edu/warlord/PP-ASEL-IA N1NWH warl...@mit.eduPGP key available ___ gnucash-devel mailing list gnucash-devel@gnucash.org https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-devel
