I think what you want to do is to select both the invoice and the pre-payment
(using shift-click or ctrl-click). This will automatically adjust the total
amount of the payment to 0. Then click ok.

This will assign the pre-payment to your invoice and should mark it as paid.

Yes, IF you have your books (and so all these log files) in a
directory(file folder) that contains just them << if there are only a
few other things the trick might still be usable >>

Remember, you can easily delete EVERYTHING in a directory, so the
problem is just how to keep what you want to keep.

The way I usually do this is to temporarily create another directory
and copy into it the current books and say the last few log files. I
then CHECK that this has happened OK << for example, open the books in
THAT file using "file open" where you can specify what you want opened
>> Now delete all in the original directory. Copy back in from the
temporary directory. CHECK that this worked. Now you can delete the
temporary directory. Notice that I checked before every irreversible
operation. Being that careful or not is up to you.

Pre Payment?

2017-07-04 Thread Martijn Heuts
  Hello,
I had to unpost an invoice as it was posted as paid in full but it was not (we
applied discount instead of having an open balance). Now that I have the
discount reduced and the payment posted it shows when I click on 'Pay Invoice':
6/14/2017   Invoice              62.006/30/2017   Pre-Payment
62.00
The date the invoice was created was 6/14The date the invoice was paid 50% was
6/14The date that I got insurance money for this invoice was 6/22 (this is when
the invoice was entered paid in full after discount)On 6/30 it was unposted,
discount was reduced to reflect the open balance, and payment for remaining
balance was posted again. The post date was set to 6/14 and the due date set to
6/30.
Can someone tell me why it shows pre-payment and how to fix it?
Thanks for all your help. Have a blessed 4th of July!!

No to either. The only log is of transactions and splits, and it doesn’t
distinguish how they’re created. The trace file may record more about each
session depending upon the arguments used to start GnuCash but is overwritten
by every new session except on Windows.

Import log

2017-07-04 Thread Dan Rawson
Is there a separate log for imports? Or is the import history available? All the imports
I've done are from QFX if that makes a difference . . . .

Thanks!

There was one version (number not recalled) that was very poor on doing
the cleanup.
What version are you using? If it is before the 2.6 series, then it
would be worth upgrading.

Apart from that there is one remaining 'gotcha'.
If you have more than one file, and always open file "A" and then
transfer to file "B", and then close Gnucash while file "B" is active,
then only file "B" will have its old log files removed.

You should be able to use your system's file manager. Mark all the
files, and delete them. For many file managers if you select the first
one then Shift+click on the last it will mark all the ones between.
Make sure you don't mark files that you don't want to delete though.

Hi Carl,

you don't mention your operating system, but I would do the following.

Use Dolphin to navigate to the correct directory.
Press F4 to open a command prompt pane
Type: rm *.log [enter]
type: exit [enter] to close the command prompt.

If you are not using KDE on Linux, then that may all be useless advice to you.

For what it is worth, the "retain log files" prefs work fine for me.

HTH,
Maf.

Multi-user support is one of our long-term goals [1]. So there's no need to
request it. You can add your vote to the uservoice feature request [2] if you
like to show your interest in the request.

However, what will help most is to actually help implement this feature or
find additional people that can help get us there. At the current pace (and
available time to the active developers) it will take several years still to
get it implemented.

Geert
