We also put official binaries on the releases page of our Github repo.

That said, confirming that the sha256 of what you downloaded matches the the
one published in the release announcement regardless of where you downloaded it
from should be being careful enough.

Thanks John for the comprehensive answer, I will hold off until 3.0

Currently I use 2.6.15

I was wondering if there was any real problem with doing this? I understand the
database changes format, that's not a problem.

The reason Gentoo recommends upgrading to 2.7.x is that 2.6.x requires an old
version of libwebkit and Gentoo wants to get rid of that dependency. 2.7.x uses
up-to-date libwebkit.

Unfortunately 2.7.x is an unstable release series with frequent releases and
Gentoo isn’t keeping up: 2.7.4 was from the end of January, we just released
2.7.6 yesterday and will release 2.7.7 next weekend. If everything goes well
3.0 will follow the weekend after that.

I’d recommend *not* installing 2.7.4. 2.7.6 is much more stable, but there are
still a couple of significant bugs that we know about. If you want to be a
beta-tester you could install that, but if you just want to get your accounting
done you should wait for 3.0.

Be careful. It is generally not safe to download software from unofficial
sources.

SourceForge.net is the official source as Dave noted.

What other site did you download it from?

2.7.6 with KDE extremely slow reconciliation window

2018-03-13 Thread Catscrash
Hi,

I tested 2.7.6 on ubuntu 17.10 with KDE.

Everything works okay so far, except for the reconciliation window that
opens after getting data from aqbanking. That window takes sometimes
over a minute to open and sometimes it just opens directly.

Is there some gtk3 setting I need to set in KDE?

thanks!

Re: Upgrading to 2.7 series

2018-03-13 Thread farleykj
As I understand it, the 2.7 series is an unstable developmental version of
the program, not intended for production use. By its very nature it will
have bugs, 'cause that's part of the process of testing it and making
improvements.
In short, if you're just using the program, I'd not fiddle with the 2.7
series.

Re: Online Transactions - Sender Not Found

2018-03-13 Thread Christoph R
Hi Evan,

I do not use OFX but the HBCI backend of aqbanking. When my bank changes the
certificate Gnucash starts to ask for verification for the new certificate. But
it does not store the answer.

Calling aqbanking from the command line like "aqbanking-cli request —balance”
asks to verify the certificate and stores it. After that all is fine for me
again.

Cheers,
Christoph
