Where did you find that info? I'm curious as my daily desktop is kde yet
gnucash is using dconf.

Perhaps because Fedora is essentially a gnome distro and I'm using the non-
standard kde instead ?

I'm on OpenSuSE, with a KDE desktop, and have been for years - recently
upgraded (clean install to clear cruft from ~) to the latest which puts me on
GC 3.3 at the moment - Confirm that GC's prefs are in dconf. Had to hunt to
change the MRU list to 6 entries as per the previous setup I'd put in to GC
2.x

YMMV, of course, but I see no evidence of *KDE* bypassing dconf.

Hi,

KDE uses flat text files under ~/.config/ to store prefs, not dconf (no doubt
there are various levels of conf, system defaults to over-ride etc)

however, GC isn't a native KDE program, so dconf is still used for prefs
storage, just as on a gnome desktop (and presumably any other flavour of
window manager etc.)

At least that's how it is on my system!

Maf.

2019-01-21 Thread peter_cd.cn
I am in a similar boat as you and glad that I found your solution. When I
try to use your function, I get an error in the "Edit Schedule Transaction"
window. Basically saying GNUCash doesn't know the function "imptFixed" and
other "*Fixed" functions.

"An error occurred while processing imptFixed( )".

I am using a MacOS and put the user.config under /Volumes/Macintosh
HD/Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/GnuCash

Another question, when setting up a new Loan with the Mortgage Assistant
program, I should use the current balance, not the original loan amount.
What about the term left? I have a 180 months loan, and it has 163 month
left(based on default payment schedule). Should I put 163 or calculated the
month by my "adjusted" monthly payment value.

Thanks,

[GNC] How to use Mortgage and Loan repayment with a different monthly payment.

2019-01-21 Thread peter_cd.cn
Hi,

I am having trouble schedule monthly payment with Mortgage and Loan
repayment program. It doesn't work for my use case. I wonder if there is a
better solution or am I using it incorrectly.

I have a 180 months (15yr) mortgage with 4% interest rate. Original loan
amount 300,000. Starting date 07/01/2017. Scheduled payment is
2500.00(principle+interests) per month, but instead I have been making
3000.00 every month. (500 extra go towards principle)
(Above numbers are made up numbers)

When I finish the wizard in mortgage loan repayment program, it gives me a
scheduled split-transaction correctly as $2500 every month.

There is no place for me to put my customized monthly payment. Therefore,
the interest and remaining principle is all out of sync.

Can someone help? I found a solution

on the forum, but I had a question on how to use a customized formula in a
scheduled transaction.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

2019-01-21 Thread John Ralls
I don’t think that’s his problem. Note the subject: “Unable to make a backup
for the file /run/media...”. That’s an error message, and it’s usually caused
by not being able to write to the directory where the account file is.

Pierre,

Une autre possibilité consiste à vérifier les autorisations et la propriété
du répertoire dans lequel votre fichier de données est stocké, comme suggéré
par John Ralls.

[GNC] Report Grouping by Account Level

2019-01-21 Thread T&M Strain
Hi,
First time using the GnuCash email lists.
I'm trying to have and income/expense report grouped or displayed in a
different way than what is given and I'm not sure it is possible. For
example, I want to show fuel purchased by vehicle in a transaction report.

In my accounts, I have:
- Expenses:Auto:Car1:Fuel and
- Expenses:Auto:Car2:Fuel.

When choosing the Accounts from the Options in a Transaction report, I have
to pick on Fuel for both vehicles, and the report returns "FUEL" split out,
but not labeled as Car 1 and Car 2 - i.e. I get two Fuel totals, but I
can't immediately tell what is Car 1 and what is Car 2.

Is there a way to include the "one-up" level split in the transaction
report? So I would see Car 1 Fuel and then Car 2 Fuel?

Thanks,
--MGS

Not just the 1-up.  But, in the Display tab of the Options screen,
select "Use Full Account Name".  It will list it as you show above.
