Re: [GNC] Version upgrade: Missing Saved Reports

2019-05-22 Thread Adrien Monteleone
You’re welcome. Thanks for the update. Indeed, I forgot about the
\Roaming\GnuCash levels. Be warned, some reports might have changed their
options since that release. I seem to recall a thread or two about a few old
saved reports causing a hang, or other issues. It might be best to run each one
as soon as you can, just to test they are still working as intended.

Adrien

Re: [GNC] Version upgrade: Missing Saved Reports

2019-05-22 Thread Steve Isenberg via gnucash-user
Your memory was close enough and for Win7 it is buried inside C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\GnuCash folder.

Copied the 2.4 file to that location, renamed it 2.8 and BAM! All my reports
are back.
Thanks Adrien!

Steve,

Check the wiki concerning file locations for the 3.x series. Reports were moved
to another location and named saved-reports-2.8 (2.8 was originally the next in
the version numbering, but was later upped to 3.0) You?ll need to copy your 2.4
reports there. Unfortunately, I don?t know the Windows location off hand but
the wiki will have it. (someone more familiar with this might chime in as well)
I *think* it is `c:\Users\\%APPDATA%` but I could be remembering
it wrong ?best to double check and verify that.

If you have a truly custom report (not just a saved report) I seem to recall
also that the user loading file has changed. The wiki should also have this
info.

Check the FAQ for the links (or rabbit hole if you will, as it may be buried 3+
pages deep) to find the info.

Regards,
Adrien

Re: [GNC] Fix assets

2019-05-22 Thread Cricket Onebit
Is it really worth doing that in GNUCash? Every type of asset depreciates
differently, and you have different types of depreciation (tax, resale,
saving to replace).

Also, the value of your building for insurance might be replacement cost,
which is very different from what you could sell it for. Our insurance is
rebuild our 40-year-old house to current codes, which is much more than we
could sell it for.

See what your local accountant says. It can get complicated, and they might
have an easier way to do it.

No, he's clearly talking about the "To Create" and "Show Created" that
show up on the SLR dialog.

This appears to be new behaviour with v3. I'm still on v2.6.21 and the
register display gets updated as it should. Another reason for not
updating, I think.

Because I always click Review created transactions in the SLR I never
noticed Adrians bug.

That is a serious problem for users that do not review transactions in the
created transactions window.

See chapters 6 and 8 of the help manual to see the gory details of how this
all works.

The scheduled transaction editor screen that you show just sets up what
happens when the Since Last Run assistant fires.

Depending on those settings and scheduled vs current date, you may see
various items in SLR .

Some of those states can be changed before accepting the results. I think
this is described in the manual.

Re: [GNC] Scheduled Trans shows completed 5/8 but not in register?

2019-05-22 Thread Adrien Monteleone
Jack,

I could be mistaken, but I’d think David is referencing the options to “Create
automatically” as the opposite of “To create” and “Notify me when created” as
“Show created”.

And yes, if the account is open when the transaction is fired, it will not show
up until you close and re-open the account. (I didn’t know an additional
transaction would also trigger its appearance, good to know)

If the SX is set to “Notify me when created” and the Since Last Run dialog
appears, you’ll get a special ‘register’ page showing you all created
transactions. (you’ll still have to manually refresh each open affected
register)

This is the bug I was referencing in an earlier post.

Regards,
Adrien

Re: [GNC] Scheduled Trans shows completed 5/8 but not in register?

2019-05-22 Thread Jack Lockard
I am looking at the Edit Scheduled Transaction dialog box and do not see a
‘ToCreate’ or ‘Show Created’ flag to set. All of my scheduled transactions have
the ‘Create Automatically’ flag set so they are created. They just do not show
up in the register until I close and re-open the account or enter another
transaction.

For many years it has been my SOP to scroll through the SLR transaction list,
count the number of transactions that I expect to appear, change some reminders
to ToCreate, and set the Show created flag before triggering.

In the last 3 or 4 years I have never had one fail to appear.

OK - Idiot alert here! When I did a search for the transaction in the Expense

Of course the 2019 transaction is the item that did not post. So now I'm

So I'm back to square one. Shows complete in the Scheduled Trans list but doe

Re: [GNC] Fwd: Impossible to generate reports.

2019-05-22 Thread Geert Janssens
The bug being referred to is https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=645273

The issue seems to have something to do with selecting a default browser on a
fresh windows install. Somehow it seems Windows - or WebKitGtk on Windows -
blocks all output until the user has made this choice. To date we still
haven't figured out the details or whether this is something we can fix in
gnucash.

The workaround has worked on many occasions though.

Regards,

Geert
