Thanks John, It worked. Although, this template was available earlier for
India. I am not sure why it was removed.

That's because that's the only template that's been contributed for India.
Temporarily set your locale to one of the more fully populated
countries--perhaps en_GB or en_AU--to create your new book. If you need the
Indian GST accounts as well you can use Actions>New Account Hierarchy to add
them once you've switched your locale back to India.

Re: [GNC] Common account type missing in latest GNUCash 3.6.2 (India)

2019-08-18 Thread John Ralls
What actually changed is that someone contributed the Indian GST file and that
created the share/accounts/en_IN directory. Before that it would fall back to
en_GB which has all of the account files.

Thank you. Guess that means there's no reason why using a css file to adjust
fonts, color, etc. won't work, even though my preference page is not
available to me so I'll pursue that... Regardless, much thanks for making
the 3.6 version available on flatpak, everything else in the program works
fine.

Re: [GNC] Printer woes

2019-08-18 Thread Greg Feneis
James, the typical flow in GnuCash and similar programs is that the chart
of accounts and various account registers and other things aren't
considered documents, so you can't directly print them. Instead, you "run
a report". That report is more like a document. If a report is
satisfactory, you can print it, or save as a .PDF.

The icons along the top of the GnuCash window will change depending on what
tab is currently selected. They are context specific. When I click on
Accounts tab, the toolbar only shows 6 icons (none of them are about
printing). When I'm viewing a checking register, a different set of icons
appear, 12 in total (still no printer icon). When I view an invoice, or
report, a printer icon is shown.

I'm pretty sure you'll see that printer icon, you just need to run a report
first.

Kind regards,

Greg Feneis

I should clarify just in case it matters -- I deleted more than just the
data file -- I deleted the entire directory and had GnuCash create a new
directory and data file with a different name. I didn't look for hidden
files; the only files I saw were the test data file and one automatic
backup file from some time in 2018. In retrospect I should have renamed it
to preserve the old test data.

And also in case it matters, GnuCash is the only flatpak I have ever
installed, and this is only the second time I've tried it.

(I don't have time at the moment to experiment with the GPG key issue so
I'll try to get back to that later.)

With the register you want to print in front of you select

This is not strictly related to Gnucash, but today an interesting piece
was posted on ABC News

Enjoy - what it tells me is that this problem will not be solved on a
social engineering level. It may be worthwhile evidence for those
pursuing upstream packages like gtk to encourage them to be more

Thanks for experimenting with this. I'll comment in between.

Sudo is only needed on systems where polkit is not properly configured to
allow flatpak manipulations. I think modern systems like Fedora 29 or Ubuntu
18.04 and up don't need sudo any more (unless perhaps for the flatpak override
command which alters sandbox permissions).

I am still struggling with this bit myself. I assume the GnuCash_Dev remote is
gnucash' nightly build service. I'm seeing similar errors here, so this needs
more investigation.

Do you remember how you installed the GnuCash_Dev remote ?
You could try and import the GPG key that's on
https://code.gnucash.org/builds/flatpak/gnucash-flatpak.gpg
And see if the install error would go away.

So what happens here is that flatpak won't trust GnuCash_Dev due to the
missing GPG gkey and instead will search for gnucash in the other available
remotes. As flathub also has a gnucash package, it offers to install that one.
Note that if GnuCash_Dev had worked you would have been presented with a list
of package options to choose from.

Hi Randix,

The first line in there hints at the issue: the settings portal is missing. If
I understand correctly that portal is provided by the xdg-desktop-portal

Note that on Chromebooks the linux support itself is an addon to the base

Indeed. It still involves a stock.

I should have read your question to the end (my apologies for jumping to the
gun): there is currently no way to import number of shares + money amount in
the CSV importer. It's hard wired to support number of shares + price only. I
agree this is suboptimal as it may lead to unwanted rounding errors.

Geert
