No need to file a bug, it's https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=798558.
Bob Fewell poked at it a bit in July without a good resolution.

[GNC] Double width lines in accounts listing?

2022-10-24 Thread Ken Farley

I just updated to version 4.12, running on macOS 12.6.

When I have an account with a fractional shares, amount greater than
1000 (i.e. 1234.567 shares), the lines in the account list are double
the width of the rest of the lines in the list, with the extra white
space before and after the actual line. I've tried changing the account
name and description to shorter strings, but it does not affect
anything. I just happened to notice that the shares are the common
denominator between the erroneously displayed lines.

So, might there be some sort of setting I could adjust, or even a
formatting setting that will prevent this odd behavior? Should I report
a bug (maybe I should just give that a try, too)?

Re: [GNC] Gnucash on MacOS 12.5 ?

2022-10-24 Thread Ken Farley
I wrote a long post a bit ago when I first got my M1 based Mac and I had
to wrestle with getting Finance:Quote to work. I scoured the internet
and managed to put together a method for fixing it, that I also added to
the Wiki.

It's nice that folks put all their findings on how to fix stuff in the
Wiki, gives a good place to shop for solutions. I'll have to take a look
at the formatting stuff sometime.

That gave me an idea.
  sudo arch -x86_64
/Applications/Gnucash.app/Contents/Resources/bin/gnc-fq-update
Just Works. Yay!

I've updated the wiki page.

It works for me on a Mac Studio (M1). Getting F::Q installed was a major pain,
though. Eventually what worked for me was using xcode-select to install a
second set of CommandLineTools in the non-xcode default location, make sure
that was the path cpan was using, and then installing F::Q.

I have no idea if there was a more sane way to point cpan to CommandLineTools
in the usual XCode-related location. This is not the first time I’ve had two
installations of CommandLineTools, but it doesn’t seem to interfere with what I
use them for.

[GNC] Won't Start on Upgraded Ubuntu 22.10

2022-10-24 Thread Stephen M. Butler

Upgraded Ubuntu overnight to 22.10.

GnC won't start this morning.  CI attempt shows "error while loading
shared libraries: libicuuc.so.70: cannot open shared object file: No
such file or directory"

Indeed, it appears that libicuuc.so.71 was installed during the upgrade.

GnC version 4.11-136 had been locally compiled so suspect it didn't get
libraries updated.

Did a git pull, found that 4.12.28 was current in maint, compiled and
installed.  That fixed the issue (plus forced me to upgrade to the latest).

Just a notice to anyone else who may be upgrading Ubuntu this week.

Re: [GNC] Gnucash on MacOS 12.5 ?

2022-10-24 Thread R Losey
I was exactly where you are; I had an older, Intel Mac that finally died,
and I was concerned about GnuCash on the M1 ("Monterey"). It has worked
fine for me. I did install Rosetta 2, as recommended on the compatibility
websites. I have run into no problems with it (but I don't use the price
quote feature on the Mac).
