Re: [GNC] Report filter Syntax

2024-02-29 Thread Geoff

Hi Grace

You can find a a particular transaction in an account using either the
Transaction Report or the Find Transaction facility (Edit / Find) from
within the account's register.

Both methods support "regular expressions" which extend the capabilities
of the Filters beyond a mere "find this text" search.

GnuCash supports what are known as POSIX Regular Expressions, and you
can read all about them here:

https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/watson-explorer/12.0.x?topic=queries-posix-regular-expression-syntax-examples

Note, regular expressions are cAsE sensitive.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Geoff

Re: [GNC] Saving to MySQL 8.0.36

2024-02-29 Thread Cam Ellison
Ira, there's not enough information in what you have posted to assist in
getting your problem solved.

What does "Saving to Windows on local network does not work" mean? What
actually happens? What error message is generated?

Is there one MySQL database or two? If there is one, on which machine is
it: the Mac, the Windows machine, or something else?

As far as I can tell, there are no current problems involving both
GnuCash 5.1 and MySQL. At a guess, there's a library missing, or the
link is not specified correctly.

You might also try saving as sqlite because I know that database format is
used by more folks (though I don't use it).

To reiterate, saving to MySQl instnace on the MAc (same machien running
Gnucash) works fine. Saving to Windows on local network does not work.

Can anyone please help me to diagnose why gnucash will not save to the

work. What am I missing?

What versions of GnuCash on the Mac and on Windows? And (if relevant) did
you download the software from anyplace other than gnucash.org ?

(please reply to the list as I know nothing about either the Windows or
Mac versions)

Wild guess but could it be your MAC's and/or Windows host firewall settings?

Sinwows? Wow, you really hate Windoz$ that much but yet run MySQL on it
which was born on Linux...

[GNC] Report filter Syntax

2024-02-29 Thread Grace

Hi,

Can anyone point me in the direction of the syntax for the report
filters. I need to select particular transaction from an account, and I
don't see any guidance in the help. A google search didn't get me
anywhere either.

Thanks,

Grace
