Re: [GNC] CSS GTK Register padding/spacing
Don't know if you ever solved this, or if a solution is possible, but these are the lines from my GTK3 CSS file that deal with the register lines. *.gnc-class-register-primary { background-color: @hueRegLight ; color: @hueTextNormal ; } *.gnc-class-register-secondary { background-color: @hueRegDark ; color: @hueTextNormal ; } I don't know if the padding values are available to change. You'd have to try it. First, make sure you are setting the register settings that are available by making the color something ridiculous like pink, to be sure your syntax is correct. You can always change it back to white or whatever you were using. I have variables set in my CSS file that I can reference in many setting statements, so if I want to change a setting for "normal text" everywhere, I only have to change it once, at the beginning of the file. ___ gnucash-user mailing list gnucash-user@gnucash.org To update your subscription preferences or to unsubscribe: https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user - Please remember to CC this list on all your replies. Re: [GNC] Can't import .qif files from quicken since latest update
Apologize if this is a duplicate, sometimes I'm not sure if my post actually gets sent out. The QIF importer in Gnucash 5.6 gives me the same error for my credit card import even though the same file works in Quicken and in Gnucash 5.5. I had to reinstall Gnucash 5.5. As an aside, my experience with Quicken is that the qif export doesn't contain the first four lines, just the transactions. Without the first four lines you have to tell Quicken which account to use during a qif import in order to read in a qif file that you originally exported from Quicken. The problem is, not all of you accounts are available for a qif import. The trick, after considerable web searching, was to add the first four lines, as shown below, to a qif file. Then you can import transaction data into any account in Quicken. There is a Quicken qif wiki on the subject. The bottom line is, the format of the qif file, with and without the first lines of the sample qif file below, will both import into Gnucash 5.5. The only difference is you don't have to tell Gnucash which account to use, it is automatically specified in the first four lines. !Account NCredit Card Name TCCard ^ !Type:CCard Cc D03/31/2024 MRestaurants PStarbucks T-9.53 ^ On Sat, Apr 6, 2024 at 6:28 PM Bryan B. wrote: > I've tried several different methods to export a .qif file from quicken and > import it into GnuCash. > > The process of importing the file goes fine until I reach the part where > the actual import occurs. Re: [GNC] IRA conversion
Again, nothing that I'm no expert: It seems to me that your solution has four splits, while mine has... four splits. Depending on the actual event, either could be valid. For example, a conversion between accounts at a single brokerage might look like your example, while one from one brokerage to another might work better with mine. David T. Re: [GNC] Forgotten Splits
Phyllis, I have many questions about this issue. 1. Are you importing the transactions with all their splits defined, and splits within those imported transactions are not actually getting in to the GnuCash data file? 2. Are you importing a record from another account (for instance, your checking account, which receives a portion of your income) and it fails to register the other splits? 3. Are you using the auto complete feature to create these transactions, and the resulting transactions aren't getting your updated numbers? 4. Are you using some other mechanism to get this data into your file? For number 1, I'd be surprised that the importer would somehow lose some of the entries upon import--if you had a properly-defined transaction for import. However, I'd also be surprised to find a payroll provider that would present me with an importable income transaction. Correct me if I've misunderstood this. For number 2, if you're importing transactions from, say, your checking account provider, I wouldn't expect their records to include all the entries for the various deductions on a paycheck. Their records show one entry for the final amount that came in to them. You have to provide the other values yourself. For number 3, auto complete uses the latest version of a transaction as its template. If you have newer transactions in the register already (as hinted at by your comments), GnuCash is going to use the last one. So, if you change one of the earlier transactions to reflect your new values, GnuCash will continue to use the values in the latest transaction. Once you've updated the most recent copy, auto complete should take those values going forward. I've encountered this last one many times because I will use auto complete to enter paystubs quickly, and adjust the final deposit only. Months later, I'll go back and figure out why the amount changed, and discover that Payroll changed 3 or 4 different line amounts. That's an annoying circumstance. The options to fix this are: * correct the 3 or 4 entries on every paystub, or * delete all the erroneous transactions, re-enter the first one correctly, and then auto complete the rest correctly. I do the first if I've reconciled portions of the past transactions and the second if I haven't. If your answer is #4, please provide more info. David T. Re: [GNC] strange lack of exchange rates in a new currency cash account
Hi John, I tried to submit this information at https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=799086 but was not able to log in or reset my password, so I thought I'd at least let you know by email: I had this same problem of reports being blank, after switching from Ubuntu to Linux Mint (to GC v5.6 thru Flatpak; in Ubuntu it was thru Flatpak, and I think it was version 5.5.) I was able to see reports after switching the Nvidia driver from Performance Mode to On-Demand Mode, but switching the driver from version 535 to version 470 seemed like a better solution because Performance Mode works a little better. I can confirm that this fix works. Yes, I recall some bug fixes around pricing and VND in particular in the last couple of years. Ubuntu updates application versions only at releases, so if you want to keep up with GnuCash that way you have to upgrade every April and October. You could switch to Debian Testing, which is what Ubuntu's releases are pulled from. That operates as a rolling release so no upgrades are needed. The updates in testing have been vetted for a few weeks to months in Debian Unstable, so they're a bit less bleeding-edge than other rolling-release distros like Arch or Fedora Rawhide. Or you can keep right up to date with flatpak.
