Thanks Dave,

I tried the CTRL + SHIFT + Z but unfortunately this does not work for Reckon
Accounts Premier Edition 2017.

Charlie

Have you tried to export as a QIF file as suggested in this link
https://community.reckon.com/reckon/topics/is-there-a-way-to-convert-data-to
-a-generic-known-format

as follows:

"When in Reckon Personal, if you click on CTRL + SHIFT + Z you will then
have a new menu in FILE > EXPORT where you can export a QIF file.

2019-09-11 Thread Charles Peter Avery
Hello Peter,

Thank you for your response. I have pasted in below the first few lines in the
CSV file (I changed the amounts and details to protect the data) that was
created by Reckon (Quicken).

Hi Charlie,

The format of QIF files is discussed at this link:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quicken_Interchange_Format

Does your CSV file have a header line or lines? If so, can you post them?

There seems to be a “Hide header” option when exporting from Reckon to CSV.
Make sure that is not set when you export.

I am using Windows 10. I have been using Reckon Accounts Premier Edition
2017 for the past 7 years. I have created a CSV file of all the general
ledger transactions through this time and I have purchased the CSV to QIF
software conversion tool.
I would like to convert the CSV general ledger transaction to a QIF file and
import this into GnuCash. I do not know what the column layout in the CSV
file should be nor do I know what the QIF file format should be and I am
finding it very difficult to find decent documentation or tutorials for the
column layout of the CSV file and the record formats in the QIF file.
Would you be able to assist me please?

By the way, you can enter the account number in lieu of the account
name, even if the account number isn't part of the name. (This is true
in 2.6.19; I assume it's still possible in 3.x.)

Stephen,

My accountant uses the file I provide him to import my GL transactions
directly into his ledger. I have been doing this for 12 years.

Your accountant does not need account numbers. He will have his own software
to generate his workpapers. He can work without them.

He may find it a convenience to have numbers to make sure that any adjusting
entries later given to you go to the right place, but that is optional.

Workaround
Export to a file which you open in a spreadsheet
Add in the account numbers...

It's slightly better than printing and writing them in.

Is this a requirement of your jurisdiction or of your accountant?
