[GNC] understanding how log files report transactions entered into GnuCash

2024-01-06 Thread Eric via gnucash-user

Hi,

My GnuCash data file somehow got corrupted and I cannot open it. I have
found earlier data file from a certain date that I can open  I am trying
to use the log files to discover which entries were made into GnuCash
after the date of the data file that I can use.  Most of the log fiel I
have been able to figure out, but I still have questions. especially
when an entry seems to be listed several times.

Therefore I am looking for documentation of the GnuCash log files.  I
have not been able to find it.  Does anyone know where log file
documentation can be found?

For example

-- I see that some entries begin with a "C" and others begin
with a "B". What does the "C" or "B" mean?

-- I also see entries in the log file that do not appear in the data
file and am trying to figure them out. Not all of those entries can be
seen when I look for them in GnuCash.

Can anyone help me with these questions.

Best,

Eric

[GNC] log file descriptions

2023-12-31 Thread Eric via gnucash-user

Hi,

I am looking for details of the GnuCash log file structure.  In
particular, I see that some entries begin with a "C" and others begin
with a "B". What does that mean.

I also see entries in the log file that do not appear in the data file.
I think that they might have been entries that were actually deleted in
the GnuCash.

I looked on the wiki and could not find any answers to my questions. Any
explanations of the the information in the GnuCash *.log files wold be
greatly appreciated.

Best,

Eric
