[GNC] Styles of different items in GNUcash reports

2021-01-11 Thread Raimund Strehl
I am trying to fix an issue with the formatting of different items in a simple
journal or general ledger.
What I am trying to achieve is to format the primary sorting key in BOLD, but
it appears that this item does not have s style of its own.
In my case the primary sorting key are the accounts
The primary sorting key in the generated report seems to be using the
background color as defined for the subheader (in e.g. the technicolor style).
But it does not appear to have a text style of its own, it appears to use the
test style as defined for the normal text field
Example of report

1000 Bank account One <-- I want this bold
01.01.2020 Transfer 2000 EUR
02.01.2020 Transfer 1000 EUR
Total 3000 EUR
1100 Bank account Two <-- I want this bold
03.01.2020 Transfer 6000 EUR
05.01.2020 Transfer 4000 EUR
Total 1 EUR

Does anyone have an idea of a workaround or any ongoing improvement to allow
this in GNUcash.
Right now my only option is to export the HTML, import in Excel and do this
manually.
Feels like a waste of time as the report function in GNUcash is otherwise very
nice and easy.

Thank you for all advice

Yes, that’s where I am making the adjustments.
But there is no adjustment for the “primary sorting key”

Raimund Strehl, presumably the same person now using a different e-mail

unhappy with the original response it would have be polite to continue the

GnuCash 3.2 on Windows 10:

Reports such as Transaction report do not respect the "reverse balanced
accounts" setting on subtotals for income accounts.

Individual transactions will show be shown reversed, but not account subtotals

e.g.

GnuCash 2.6.21 "reverse balanced accounts" to reverse sign on income accounts

Income account X:

Transaction A 200 EUR

Transaction B 300 EUR

Total 500 EUR

GnuCash 3.2 "reverse balanced accounts" to reverse sign on income accounts

Income account X:

Transaction A 200 EUR

Transaction B 300 EUR

Total -500 EUR

I assume it is a bug in the reporting function.

This bug seems to have appeared between version 2.6.21 and 3.2

Does anyone know the reason for this or a fix for this?

2019-01-23 Thread Raimund Strehl
Thank you. But this thread does not handle the fact that the “reverse balanced
accounts” setting is ignored in the totals.
Unfortunately I am not a programmer, but if someone can point me to where the
file for the general ledger report is saved, I can have a look and maybe try to
figure out how to correct the mistake.
Remember, this was correctly implemented in 2.6 and then disappeared.

Now I found the change of subject in the thread. And there is a link to the

I agree with the thread poster that one should display the reversed subtotal

I am not a coder, but I will have a look whether I understand anything.

[GNC] PDF export of reports

2019-01-25 Thread Raimund Strehl
Hi all,

Don't know if anyone else has noticed and if maybe there is a whole thread
already, but PDF export has a flaw.
I have tested this on several Windows 10 machines on Gnucash 2.6 and 3.2/3.4.

Reports export fine to PDF, but at page transitions it can happen, that a line
of text gets cut in half.

First half is on the end of one page and other half is at the start of next
page.

This seems to happen independently of page size settings. If the lines in the
report /e.g. general ledger report by chance match with the space available on
the page it looks fine on that page,
but on the next page it can run into the problem.

I think what is missing is a command checking like this
IF this line does not fit on page
DO NOT start printing it
BUT send a new page command and continue with printing the line.

You can see, I am not a programmer

Any ideas for a solution or a workaround??

As it is now, I have to export as HTML, import in Excel and then print a
useable PDF with clean page transitions

If I am not mistaken the same problem occurs when printing the report from
Gnucash using print to pdf or to a printer. I think this is an issue that
should have high priority as the export and print functions are rendered
unusable by this.
Any coders listening in here? :-)

Unfortunately it's only addressed for linux. On MacOS we have the same issue.

Feel free to jump in and provide the necessary patches...

The currently active devs are aware of the problem but as John explained in
another reply there's no easy solution. But there are a few workarounds:

1. open the reports in your favorite webbrowser and print from there 2. copy
the report into Excel or LibreOffice calc (optionally adjust to your
taste) and print from there
3. run gnucash 3.x on linux and enjoy integrated printing/pdf export.
