It’s been awhile since I installed GNC. Does the installer ask for an
installation path?

David,
Since not everyone on this list uses the same email client as you you may need
to find out which client program Barry uses. I use the default email client on
my iPad and have no ‘blue send button’ to push.

Then just hi-lite the part you want to reply to before hitting reply-to-all.
It’s wha I did here.

Question about a matter of setup. I use Windows 11 - so
answers/information specific to that OS would be appreciated.

First - can two instances of the program be loaded (exist in the system)
such that one instance opens a personal file and one opens a business file?
Second - if answer to question one is yes - is this a preference you can
set and are there advantages to doing it?
Third - if answer to question one is no - then is the only way to have
two separate data files is to load the program and force load the specific
file you want since the program always default opens to the last file you
 dealt with?

Answers, opinions and other information welcomed. Thanks! -- Ken

You can’t do that on macOS, it doesn’t work.

The files have meta data that reveals the type of file it is, or did in the
ancient past of 15-20 years ago. That is why why files didn’t need an extension
to hint at its contents.

This is with MS email server I was forced to use by GoDaddy.

I just typed gnucash in google and the first hit was an ad pointing to
gnu-cash.org (with a dash). It is a fake site that is a carbon copy of
the official site but the download link goes to a setup.exe that is most
 likely a corrupted virus file.

We need this removed ASAP. There is an option in google to report the
site and mark it as spam/phishing. I imagine if more people do this it will
 get removed faster hopefully.

 Hi David,

Everything I can find says that Gnome (the desktop environment set
 up by
default in Ubuntu 22.04 - which was also the desktop environment
 used in
20.04, which worked as expected) does not save window placement
information. Instead, it is the responsibility of the application.
 Gnome
will attempt to place applications according to a scheme if the
 application
does not specify a starting position, but the application gets
 first call
on that (at least according to what I see - I am not an expert on
 this).

I am starting to wonder, though, if something in Gnome hasn't
 changed (or
maybe a setting got clobbered during the upgrade), because another
application has started showing the same problem (LibreOffice Calc
 is now
doing the same thing GnuCash does - it opens correctly sized, but
 not
correctly positioned). So I am going to try to research that aspect
 and see
if there is a setting in Gnome that may be overriding the
 application's
 requested startup positioning.
