Thanks for that. I might end up doing both. Re-parenting is simplest and makes the most sense. But in one case, I've already got shares of the same company at the old and new brokerages. I used the two-split method there. Both worked fine. You can transfer the shares in a regular two-split transaction but depending on the circumstances it might make more sense to just re-parent the account to the new broker.
