[GNC] Transaction Report with ver.3.5 not working?
A few days ago I upgraded from ver.2.6.16 to ver. 3.5 (no problem) I like ver.3.5 but the Transaction report is not working for me. How can I produce a *monthy totals *of car fuel expenses ? With version 2.6.16 it was simple to do. Re: [GNC] Transaction Report with ver.3.5 not working?
Can you describe in more detail “the Transaction report is not working for me”? I can successfully run that report on my fuel expenses with monthly totals. Are you getting an error message? Are you not seeing the data you thought you would see? Is it not arranged how you thought it would be arranged? Re: [GNC] Transaction Report with ver.3.5 not working?
The only thing I can produce is a report of all transactions with no total/month. It's obvious I just don't know how to create that report... Re: [GNC] Transaction Report with ver.3.5 not working?
When you first run the report, it is blank, telling you no accounts are selected with a link to “Edit report options” —click that link. (or click the Options button in the toolbar) In the Accounts tab of the options dialog, select the account(s) you want to report on. I presume in this case, Expenses:Auto:Fuel or something similar according to how you have your account tree set up. You can optionally filter that set of transactions using the Filter By... section. (such as only transactions from the desired accounts which perhaps were paid in cash instead of check or card) In the Sorting tab of this options dialog, set the "Primary Key:" to ‘Date’, the option for “Primary Subtotal for Date Key:” defaults to ‘Monthly’ but you can change it. That is the minimum to get you what you’ve asked for help with so far. You can then adjust other options, and click the ‘Apply’ button after each, to play around with the results until they are to your liking. Of particular interest may be the date ranges in the General tab, and the “Show subtotals only (hide transactional data)” in the Sorting tab. If you have multiple child accounts for “Fuel” and selected more than one to report on, you could set the “Secondary Key:” there to ‘Account Name’ instead of ‘Register Order’ to group the account transactions together within each month. (and even use the “Secondary Subtotal” option to get subtotals for each child account within each month) Once you have a good option set you’d like to use again, you can use the ’Save Config As...’ button to save the options to a custom report name. Next time you want to run this report with the same options, use the "Saved Report Configurations" menu entry instead of the generic "Transaction Report" entry. Note, you don’t have to close the options dialog for changes to take effect, just use the Apply button. This way you can quickly toggle and customize the desired options to get what you want. Denis, Did you try opening the register of the account you are interested in, and setting thefilter to the date range you want before you run the report? Re: [GNC] Transaction Report with ver.3.5 not working?
That would affect the Account Report, no? The Transaction Report, I don’t think, is in any way affected by the register view filter. Re: [GNC] Transaction Report with ver.3.5 not working?
I may have found a problem with my "french" version of Gnucash ? It would be a question of date format maybe. (Date format: -mm-dd) First, I can produce a complete list of all transactions for what ever dates I want. Next, in the General Tab I can get transaction from 2017 until now. Then in the sorting tab: daily, weekly, trimestriel, annual : will give me a nice report. BUT if I hit MONTLY I always get an error message!!! That, is just beyond me. Re: [GNC] Transaction Report with ver.3.5 not working?
Be certain in your preferences under Date/Time that you have the proper locale set. And if you don’t mind, please report it back here. If there is a bug and it is known, someone might see the reference. Regards, Adrien > On Apr 16, 2019, at 9:33 AM, Denis wrote: > > I may have found a problem with my "french" version of Gnucash ? Ok if there is a error message on a blank page then we want the https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Tracefile and a bug report in https://bugs.gnucash.org/ On Tue, 16 Apr 2019 at 14:35, Denis wrote: > I may have found a problem with my "french" version of Gnucash ? Also, any time you get an error message in the future, including the text of that error message in your original post will assist anyone helping you with narrowing down the problem faster than the several back and forth exchanges already endured to get to this point. Re: [GNC] Transaction Report with ver.3.5 not working?
Thanks for your comments I will fill a bug report. After testing different approachs, checking preferences, and since all sorting keys are working just fine EXCEPT the month, it's to me obvious that there is a bug. I want to thank everybody for their comments. You were a precious help.
