Re: [GNC] US Federal Credit Union as Bank Account
John, First please reply to the list or reply all. I personally cannot help you. Second, as David T hinted, there are two ways that Quicken does downloads from financial institutions. One is the direct download method that is proprietary through Intuit but is sometimes called QFX. That method can sometimes be emulated by a program that you can set up adjacent to GnuCash. There is currently another thread here discussing an issue that has arisen with that program (Finance Quote) and a different institution called USAA. That method is somewhat tricky and often does not work. When you stated that GnuCash will not accept your institution, David T thought that you were trying to use that method. Thirdly is the method that many GnuCash users including myself employ with other protocols such as CSV, QIF or OFX/QFX downloaded directly from the financial institution's customer web page, saved locally then imported into GnuCash. For financial institutions that offer the OFX/QFX download protocol or other protocols GnuCash normally gets very good results but it is not automated and requires several manual steps. To get the best help please mention your operating system, the version of GnuCash that you are using as well as what you are trying to accomplish and what detailed steps are not working. David T, Actually I was fishing for more details, as John doesn't give any like what he has tried so far. Re: [GNC] US Federal Credit Union as Bank Account
David, I think your question is beside the point. I suspect that John is trying to connect to his accounts directly using one of those direct connect protocols, and his institution is not recognized. I assume this because there is nothing in GnuCash that I could imagine that would prevent him from creating such an account. Since I do not use online features these days (the complications arising from such outweighing the benefits of trying to maintain the functionalities), I cannot advise him on how to get his connection to work. Perhaps others can. David T. Do you have a checking account "share draft", savings account, or several accounts, each set up separately in GnuCash? [GNC] US Federal Credit Union as Bank Account
I use a Federal Credit Union for my Banking needs, when I try to set this up as my Bank Account, it will not accept this as a bank. How can I fix this, they use the OFX/QFX methods for downloads to my accounts. -- John Quigley, Kinney County ___ gnucash-user mailing list gnucash-user@gnucash.org To update your subscription preferences or to unsubscribe: https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user If you are using Nabble or Gmane, please see https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Mailing_Lists for more information. - Please remember to CC this list on all your replies.
