versions (could never work out how to download the latest version,).

Not sure if this will help but my load/save time whilst not fast have
improved since updating my account hierarchy. Over time I had built up a
large number of accounts and sub accounts needed for stock entry which
became unworkable on a day to day basis, eventually I did some house keeping

i remember reading a while back about error checking, perhaps this is a

Have you guys entered any stock related entries?

Re: [GNC] Windows 10 installation very slow opening or saving file

2018-09-02 Thread motagua
I had the same issue with Windows 10. Very slow loading and saving. I went
back to 2.6 and everything was good.

Saving with 2.6 took around 8 seconds.
With 3.2 took close to 40 seconds to save.
I then made the window as small as I could and it would save in about 12
seconds.

So based on that last message it may be repeatedly updating the window.
Probably to update the progress bar.

Re: [GNC] Windows 10 installation very slow opening or saving file

2018-07-05 Thread Geert Janssens
Some people have reported saving took considerably less time when they made
the gnucash window as small as possible. This suggests gnucash is repeatedly
updating its window contents while saving.

Can you check if this makes a difference for you ?

I downgraded to 2.6 - could not resolve it on Windows 10 - deleting some

Did you have any luck with this?

Recently upgraded to latest version but auto saving really problematic while
working, generally speaking it takes as long to load as saving relatively
small file.

Using Win 10 Pro with Samsung SSD

Going to switch off auto save for the moment to get things done.

[GNC] Windows 10 installation very slow opening or saving file

2018-05-30 Thread Derick Jordaan
Hi
I just installed 3.1-2 on a new Windows 10 machine with a SSD disk. Data
files were copied across from a Windows 7 machine where I was using an
older gnucash version (2.x, will need to boot that machine to check exactly
which version was used).
My issue is on the new machine my XML data files are incredible slow to
open or save - I have now been waiting for 20 minutes and it is not yet
done saving my data file (which is about 3 MB in size on disk).
On the old machine these operations were quick (using a HDD), so I am not
sure where to look on the Windows 10 installation.
Any help would be much appreciated.
