Thanks a lot for digging these out. I'll keep entering this one by hand for
now.

The more I think about it, the more I'm inching towards creating a small
mobile app that would alert me to the scheduled transactions and generate
.qifs for the real transactions to be imported to GnuCash.

I don’t know offhand. I didn’t find any bug reports about it, but
https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=635583
 and
https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=784606
 suggest that not only are
there problems with exchange rates/prices in scheduled transactions but that
once created the transactions can’t be successfully edited.

Hm, I was prompted by the exchange rate dialog a few times while entering
the values, where I accepted the offered defaults. But, in the end, it
worked. Thanks a lot!

Would this work in a scheduled transaction? I have it set up but, in the
Since... dialog, there is the line for the exchange rate, also.

It’s because you’re trying to force the 1.4011 AUD/USD exchange rate. 86.82 *
1.4011 = 121.6478, which GnuCash rounds up to 121.65. Enter the amounts and let
GnuCash calculate the exchange rate.

Actually, that didn't work so I have to leave the 0.01 at Imbalance-AUD.

This type of transaction is quite difficult to create and enter as a
scheduled transaction. I have to do it manually every time (fortunately not
that often but still).
