Thanks Geert and all who responded to my plea for help! Got 3.8 working and everything seems to be working fine now including the - Stacked Bar Expense Graph. I've decided to dispense with the old version altogether and give another attempt to download the 3.8 version, which I attempted from the GnuCash site - which upon hitting the download button, transported me to site called SOURCEFORCE for the actual download (it seems). This link will tell you where you can find your trace file: http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Tracefile I suspect there will be a guile error in there. Can you post the contents of the trace file here ? Leo, There were changes in the storage locations of configuration files between 2.6 and 3.x described on this page on the wiki (https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Configuration_Locations). This would affect stored reports but I don't think it should have affected the default reports. GnuCash 3.x should run a conversion procedure on its first run which should transfer the files but there were some problems with reports which had been saved which required renaming the saved-reports file. If you look back through the archives to around 3.0-3.2 there should be some discusion of the problem with reports and how to fix it if that is the problem you are encountering. Thanks, I was not aware of the "Quit" feature and closing the program down properly has now stopped that error message from appearing on subsequent start-ups. However, the program will still not generate the "Expense Over Time or Expense Bar Chart" report. It will generate a page with this message only: "Report error An error occurred while running the report." I tried making a new entry in the General Ledger, then saving before doing a proper exit but upon start-up and attempting to generate that specific report, I get that error message. Any more ideas would be appreciated.
