You ran `arch x86_64 gnc-fq-update`.

The clicking-through problem is
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues/5305.

I run Gnucash on Apple MBP M1.
I don't recall what I did to make Finance::Quote work but it has been
working for quite a while.
I do have an issue with mouse clicks going through windows requiring a
couple of clicks before registering on the correct window.
But other than that working fine.

(If anyone knows how to fix the clicking through windows - that would be
greatly appreciated).

That gave me an idea.
  sudo arch -x86_64
/Applications/Gnucash.app/Contents/Resources/bin/gnc-fq-update
Just Works. Yay!

I've updated the wiki page.

It works for me on a Mac Studio (M1). Getting F::Q installed was a major pain,
though. Eventually what worked for me was using xcode-select to install a
second set of CommandLineTools in the non-xcode default location, make sure
that was the path cpan was using, and then installing F::Q.

I have no idea if there was a more sane way to point cpan to CommandLineTools
in the usual XCode-related location. This is not the first time I’ve had two
installations of CommandLineTools, but it doesn’t seem to interfere with what I
use them for.

I was exactly where you are; I had an older, Intel Mac that finally died,
and I was concerned about GnuCash on the M1 ("Monterey"). It has worked
fine for me. I did install Rosetta 2, as recommended on the compatibility
websites. I have run into no problems with it (but I don't use the price
quote feature on the Mac).

The only issue specific to Apple Silicon is that Finance::Quote doesn't work,
see https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=798456.

Been running on a Mac based system for a very long time, since 2011,
including my current Mac Mini M1. Runs perfectly. Have no fear. If you
run into any oddities, just check the other Mac related posts on this
forum and you'll likely find answers.
