Re: gnu cash v 2.6.19 on Mac OS X 10.13.3

2018-02-22 Thread Adrien Monteleone
Dan,

You’re seeing that for the following reason:

The account you currently have highlighted is NOT an income/expense account.

Gnucash defaults to creating a new account as a sub account of the one which is
currently selected.

Select either the main expense account, or a sub-account of expenses and you’ll
see Income & Expense as the only options.

If you do this with other account types, you won’t see Income or Expense listed.

Regards,
Adrien

Thank you Dave H. for your quick response.

The Account Type display box shows only: Bank, Cash, Asset, Credit Card,
Liability, Stock, Mutual Fund, A/Receivable and A/Payable.

“Expense" and “Income" are NOT showing up in the Account Type box. That is my
question. How do I fix that?

Re: Gnu Cash Starts With The File Needing Saved 2.6.18

2017-12-25 Thread Greg Feneis
OK, looks like Gnu Cash does some checking and repairs to the file and its
contents as it's being loaded. If it makes a change, then the contents
changed indication would appear and the save button would be enabled. That
makes sense.

The last version I used before 2.6.18 was 2.6.17. I don't remember this
happening before, but I just may not have noticed it.

Thanks for the helps

Let's get clear about what you are and are not seeing. If I am wrong
interpreting what you are trying to describe, say so.

I am taking what you describe when starting gnucash is that it opens a
file where you DO see all of the accounts you expect to see, but when
you ask it to open an account, you don't see the transactions you expect
to see.

Things to check:
a) Is this the right file that was opened? You should see its name
displayed. Remember, you data is NOT "in the program" but in data files
(you can have several, one program (gnucash) being used to keep
different books.

b) If it is the right file, check that there are no date range filters
in effect. For example, if you were (accidentally) asking gnucash to
show you just 2018 on you would not expect to see any transactions.

Roy,

What is the name of your data file and where do you have it stored? If all
the accounts are devoid of transactions, are they all present?

Did you look for the backups that are mentioned in the online FAQs?
