Gorm release candidates

2005-08-03 Thread Gregory John Casamento
All,

I am going to make an interim release soon, which should be considered a
"release candidate" for the 1.0 release. It's version number will be something
like 0.10.x or 0.11.x.

I will make an announcement later about this.

Later, GJC

Re: Development machines

2005-08-03 Thread Riccardo

Hello,

Adam, you may remember I have more than one box... you have or used to
have accounts on some even (I upgraded some boxes and I didn't preserve
the accounts).

On Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at 06:29 PM, Adam Fedor wrote:

I'd like to put together a list of machines that people regularly
test/develop GNUstep on. These would be any machine you have regular
access to and can provide patches for problems and/or provide
sufficient information that anyone who does not have access to the
machine could fix the problem.

Here are some boxes I try to test or use gnustep regularly on
Gentoo /x86
FreeBSD 5.3 /x86
NetBSD 2.0 /ppc
MkLinux /ppc (mklinux shouldn't be different to a normal linux on ppc,
except for older or stranger userland and a older kernel interface. The
kernel itself is binary compatible with a standard linux/ppc kernel)

solaris 2.7 /sparc64 (but everything gets built in 32bit mode)
solaris 2.6 /sparc32
NetBSD 2.0 /sparc32

I put the computers in order of their frequency of my gnustep builds. on
MkLinux I build only releases, I don't track CVS.

Just being able to provide a bug report is not typically enough to make
this list, but you can provide me the names of those machines as well.

I have then some boxes where I try to build gnustep from time to time,
but I use the boxes less, so the "testing" is less extensive.

OpenBSD 3.7 /sparc
Gentoo /hppa (32 bit)
Debian/68k (the speed of the box is slow due to lack of DMA support in
the kernel, thus I almost never update my builds)

the list of boxes doesn't count them of being currently usable or not.
For example. Netbsd/sparc is unusable right now due to ffi/ffcall
problems.

The speed of these boxes varies a lot...

I have then also other platforms which may be interesting:

Macosx 10.1.5 & 10.2.8 (on powerpc of course...). I tried to build
gnustep on the 10.2.8 box but it failed but maybe they can become
interesting in the future or for other people to check software
compatibility.

I then have IRIX boxes on which I installed GCC (since that is the only
viable solution to get a obj-c compiler...). I don't know the status of
GNUstep on irix, so I never tried a build, not even of -base.

I then have other two computers, which I use a bit less, which currently
don-t have X-window. They might be interesting to see if -base works
though. I don't know if there is a solution to get "X" without getting
"all X": they are headless boxes, so I would export anyway and compiling
whole Xorg can be very long...

Gentoo /mips (mips III) and Gentoo /sparc

I just mention them if some tests could be interesting

I then have an HP-UX 10.20 and an AIX 4.2.1 box, but my last attempts to
build gnustep on them failed miserably, this was long ago though.

Technically the FreeBSD box dual-boots GNU-Hurd(mach)/x86 too. But hurd
destroyed its own filesystem, so it is waiting for a reinstall. The same
goes for NetBSD/68k. Since my update to 2.0.2 I wasn't able to have a
usable and working system unfortunately.

-Riccardo

[Gnustep-cvs] GNUstep Testfarm Results

2005-08-03 Thread Adam Fedor
Test results for GNUstep as of Wed Aug 3 06:34:12 EDT 2005
If a particular system failed compilation, the logs for that system will
be placed at ftp://ftp.gnustep.org/pub/testfarm

If you would like to add your machine to this list, set up a cron job
(make sure you set up your PATH and other environment variables correctly)
to run the Startup/scripts/test-gnustep script (see the script comments
for more info).
