I have also bumped the version of that class from 0 to 1, so there are additional Gorm changes as well. I will send out an email detailing this fully. The changes are completed on my machine here at home, but I am still testing to make sure I haven't broken anything. Gorm Progress/Status: 06-04-2005 -- Gorm file update to be committed.
Hey, As promised here's a detailed report of what's happening. As many of you know one problem with moving .gorm files from one machine to another is that sometimes, when the machine which is running the app has a considerably smaller screen than the one on which the app was created, the window will be created against the edge of the screen. This is somewhat annoying. I decided to add information to the GSWindowTemplate in gui and also make it so that all windows in Gorm are archived using the template (whether they are custom or not) so that this information is present in when the window is unarchived and can be used to autoposition the window on the screen. I have also added backwards compatibility changes to Gorm so that it will notify users when the file is going to be updated as well as a new entry in the "File" section of the main window so that it is possible to save it using the previous version. I have tested this extensively for the last couple of days, so I don't expect any issues. I will notify all of you if there are any other changes which might have some impact. Apps locking up on start up
Every app seems now to lock up on start up after my most recent update.I updated this morning and noticed the problem. It seems to be an issue starting gpbs, gdomap and gdnc. I have tried starting them by hand prior to running any apps and this also fails. I will write a bug on this if it's not resolved shortly. Considering Gorm 1.0.0
All, Please let me know if anyone has any thoughts about this. I would also like any feedback anyone has on any last minute features or bug fixes they feel should go into the app before the 1.0 release. Gorm has been very stable for the last few releases, so I'm considering that after the next stable release of core, that Gorm should follow this with a 1.0. Does anyone have any comments? Windows and GNUstep
All, I have a few contacts who are still in the business of selling software for Mac OS X. I have spoken to some of them about GNUstep recently and they are extremely interested. Mainly the interest stemmed from getting their apps ported to Windows to take advantage of the increased market size. There is generally some interest, although slightly less, in the Linux and FreeBSD markets as they see those as slightly smaller. I knew that getting GNUstep on Windows was important, but these conversations have made me realize that getting GNUstep working on Window is not only important, but imperative. Interoperability is also important as most developers who have created thier GUIs using InterfaceBuilder want as easy a path as possible to make it work on other environments without recreating the interface files. The obvious answer to this is to complete the native nib support for gnustep-gui and for Gorm itself. I know some of you are going to go: He's just realizing this *now*?? :) I've known it for a while. My conversations with these people has simply brought it even more to the forefront. If you could give any specific examples of this occurring, I would appreciate
it. Mainly the selection is managed by calling setSelectionFromEditor: on
GormDocument. This sets the current selection and updates the inspector in
the GormInspectorsManager class.

This is reasonable. I believe that the inspector should switch to the "first
usable inspector" for that object like in your example.

I'm not sure what you're saying here. Do you mean that the inspector can have
a delegate or that the textfield can have a delegate? I will review the docs
to see if there is anything that was missed.
Also, please note that I have spent a lot of time this weekend adding the
IBViewDraggingDelegates implementation to Gorm. This allows the user to drag
arbitrary pasteboard types to any view or control and have them handled in the
way specified by the delegate. See the Data palette in Gorm/Palettes/4Data for
an example of this.
