It seems that support for HP-RTL is in developement; see

So perhaps it will be part of the next release, although it is unclear when.

By: tbinning

I know I'm swimming with the sharks here, so this will be an awfully silly
question,
but I really really need help installing/setting up GnuWin32 on my Windows
computer.
I know I need a C compiler. Is Miracle C alright? If so, once I've installed
both Miracle C and GnuWin32, how do I get Miracle C to recognize the GSL
libraries?
I know I'm suppose to 'point my linker and compiler to the GnuWin directory'
but I don't know which one specifically. Once that is done, and I'm trying to
write a program, do I call GSL routines like functions in C? If so, which folder
are they located in? I'm clearly very lost and any help is appreciated. Thank
you!!

I used tr to replace all CR LF's with a neutral character, (eg @). I could
then pipe the result into sed and manipulate it further.

example:
 tr -s [\r\n] @ | sed s/^[[:space:[EMAIL PROTECTED]//g | sed
s/[[:space:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:space:]]*/@/g | sed s/@@\+/@/g | ../bin/sed
s/@$//g
| sed s/@/\\x20\/g

gsl is a library of routines callable from C functions (although in principle
the dll could be called from other languages also). So, yes, you need to write
a C program that calls the functions you want, then compile your program and
link against the gsl library. This usually means that you link against a gsl
import library compatible with your linker and then make sure the dll's are
available when running your program. You can also link against the gsl static
libraries and then not have to have the dll available.

Compatible with your linker is the rub. If you use a gcc port (e.g. MinGW)
then you can use the import libraries (*.a files ) in the lib subdirectory
directly.
For most other linkers you'd need to compile a static library or generate import
linraries from the dll's. That's some work, or at least requires a reasonable
knowledge of the tools. A lot of people use VC++ so there's some know-how
around
for that compiler. The easiest is to use a gcc port like MinGW so you can just
use the files in the gsl distribution.

Many of the subdirectories in the gsl source tree have test programs already
written. If you can get them compiling, you'll know that you have the right
libraries headers settings. The documentation has some info on programming
the various functions also.

Good luck.
Jerry

Probably you'll have to define the macro GSL_DLL; see the gsl package page
(http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/gsl.htm) or several other help
postings,
e.g.
**

Right- THis is the solution ! now linking is OK

But my program don't launch ( under VC7.1 ) - I indicates the right path
directories
for dll : libgslcblas.dll libgsl.dll

Thanks for help

Actually, it's handle by the ms layout macros.

How do I get this to work? I keep getting:-

This forum is specifically for questions related to the Gnuwin32 port itself
and its usage on MS-Windows, not for questions on the usage of the program that
are independent of the port or the platform. It is probably best to ask this
kind of questions on the Groff mailing list:

By: sidkant73

Hi,

I am a University Student from Singapore, currently working on a simulation
package for networks. I needed to use the GSL libraries, along with Microsoft
Visual Studio 2005. I downloaded the GSL package for windows and was able to
install the package, as well as link to my program. The program compiles and
links perfectly. However, when I try to run the package, an error is displayed
saying that

*** This application failed to start because libgsl_d.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem ***

I tried to re-build the package as well as try to use the main program without
calling any function listed under the GSl library, and it worked well. So i'm
guessing that I need to specify the path for this DLL file somewhere.

I am a novice at all this, and I would be highly grateful if someone could help
me solve this problem.

My Configuration Settings are :

Additional Include Directories : C:\Program Files\GnuWin32\include

Runtime Library : Multi-threaded Debug DLL (/MDd)

Additional Include Library: C:\Program Files\GnuWin32\bin;C:\Program
Files\GnuWin32\lib

Additional Dependencies : libgsl_dll_d.lib libgslcblas_dll_d.lib

Thanks in advance!!

Siddharth

2007-02-28 Thread SourceForge.net

Read and respond to this message at:
https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4185297
By: fadichakik

Hi all,

I'm using MSVC on XP and I've a problem with gsl_rng_set. When I use this
function,
my program compiles and links correctly but fails at execution. Here is my code
:

  CvRNG rng_state = cvRNG(0x);
  gsl_rng_env_setup();
  gsl_rng_set( rng, time(NULL) );
  rng = gsl_rng_alloc( gsl_rng_mt19937 );

I already has a problem with gsl_rng_mt19937. When compiling I got unresolved
external but solved it using GSL_DLL in the preprocessor definition.

I tried also to re-order lines like that:
  CvRNG rng_state = cvRNG(0x);
  gsl_rng_env_setup();
  rng = gsl_rng_alloc( gsl_rng_mt19937 );
  gsl_rng_set( rng, time(NULL) );

but it failed too...

Can someone help me ?
Thanks.

-Fadi

Add a new MH folder (File - Add mailbox - MH... with the same name as before.
It will not be overwritten, but Sylpheed-Claws will pick it up, scan its
contents
and make available to you again.

If you want to be totally sure, make a backup of the mailbox folder somewhere
else on your hard disk.

[GnuWin32-Users] [gnuwin32 - Help] Input stream is empty?

When I recompile jpegtopnm.c and run it, it occurs the following error:'Input
stream is empty'. The jpeg image should be a valid image. But the jpegtopnm.exe
from the Netpbm package runs well.

[GnuWin32-Users] [gnuwin32 - Help] barcode.exe crashes

2007-05-07 Thread SourceForge.net

Read and respond to this message at:
https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4298762
By: msmeyer

Hi everyone,

I just downloaded the current binaries of Barcode 0.98 (barcode.exe,
barcode.dll)
and its dependency (libpaper1.dll) and extracted those into one directory
C:\barcode.
When I enter barcode -h on the command line, the help info is shown properly.
However, when I enter a simple command like barcode -b 1234567, barcode.exe
crashes with an error The command in 0x78001d0b points to memory in 0x.
The task 'read' could not be performed on the memory. This is reproducible
on two different machines running Windows 2000 Professional and Windows Server
2003 Standard, so I think it might be reproducible on other systems, too.

Any ideas?

Markus

The same command works correctly on an XP-SP2 system, so I cannot figure out
what goes wrong. Anyway, I'll prepare new releases for barcode and libpaper;
I hope they work also on 2000 and 2003.

Thanks! Casual testing shows it works now! Going to make more tests next
week...

Just for reference, what did you change in this version? I also notice that
executable and dll sizes are now significantly smaller...

I've eliminated the use of libgw32c for replacements of certain functions from
msvcrt.dll, notable the stat functions. This results in less dependence
on kernel32.dll and more on msvcrt.dll.

GnuWin32 Flex output with -+ option does not compile
in MSVC 7
The first reason is MSVC has no iostream.h but iostream
Changing this in FlexLexer.h does not help, because
istream type is defined in flex output as
class istream;
but in MSVC it is
typedef basic_istreamchar, char_traitschar  istream;

which causes compilation error

'use of undefined type istream'

AFAIK, the present release has been compiled without csharp support, so there
is no GNU.Gettext.dll.

I think -A only works for an already existing self-extracting archive.
Self-extracting archives can be created by concatenating unzipsfx.exe and the
archive; unzipsfx.exe is in the unzip package. See the example section in the
man page for unzipsfx.exe.

Great!
Thanks,
But how to force my foo.exe extract into C:\ directory, but not in the current
directory?

I created SELF-EXTRACTING archive:

copy /b unzipsfx.exe+foo.zip foo.exe

Command response:
unzipsfx.exe
foo.zip
1 file(s) copied.

zip -A foo.exe

Command response:
zip warning: foo.exe has a preamble of 95232 bytes

Now my foo.exe IS self extracting :-)
I am forcing my foo.exe extract into C:\ directory:

unzipsfx foo.exe -d C:\

Command response:
UnZipSFX 5.51 of 22 May 2004, by Info-ZIP (http://www.info-zip.org).
  End-of-central-directory signature not found.

Tried this:
unzipsfx foo.zip -d C:\

The same command response:
UnZipSFX 5.51 of 22 May 2004, by Info-ZIP (http://www.info-zip.org).
  End-of-central-directory signature not found.

:-(

I have read http://www.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/FAQ.html but only two topics
are available on FAQ about self-extracting archives :
How do I create a self-extracting archive that will automatically run a program
after extraction?
How do I make a DOS (or other non-native) self-extracting archive under Unix?

The latest release of libarchive and bsdtar seems to handle large files
correctly.
I've tested this with a file of approximately 5 GB.

[GnuWin32-Users] [gnuwin32 - Help] RE: unresolved external symbol _log1p

2007-07-26 Thread SourceForge.net

Read and respond to this message at:
https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4433433
By: cpt761

 GSL v1.8 - complete package whitout sources
 error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _log1p

If you open the gsl/config.h you will find the line: #define HAVE_DECL_LOG1P 1
This means that this GSL libs have been build for an environment where log1p
is available (from an external library).
If you don't have it, you have to buil GSL yourself.
Don't worry it's really easy.

---
Building GSL 1.8 under Windows StepByStep:
Assuming you use Visual C++ 2005 - Studio Vers. 8.

// 1) Get the sourcecode
- Download the sources:
http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/downlinks/gsl-src-zip.php
- decompress

// 2) Configure
- Open the config.h.msvc in the VC8 directory
- change #define HAVE_DECL_LOG1P 1 entry to #define HAVE_DECL_LOG1P 0
  (just to be on the safe side: change all #define HAVE_... 1 to 0)

// 3) Make
- open the visual studio solution libgsl.sln in the VC8 directory.
- Build-Batch Build
- Check the configurations you need (DLL/Static/Debug/Release) and build them
  (if you don't know what you need, check everything EXCEPT the 4 install_libgsl
entries)

// 4) Install
- Open the Property Page of the install_libgsl project (SolutionExplorer-right
click-Properties)
- Select All Configurations
- Go to Configuration Properties - Build Events - Pre-Build Event
- Edit the command line (click [...])
- Change the install location in the second line (to your GnuWin32 directory)
  (If you installed the gsl win32 binaries with standard paramteres that's
C:\GnuWin32)
- Build the install_libgsl project (SolutionExplorer - right click - build)

// 4.1) Fix the directory error
  If there are no .lib or .dll files in the /lib and /bin directory the copy
source directories are wrong:
- Go to the Pre-Buil Event command line again (see Step 4)
  In my version there where whitespaces in all Debug-StaticLib,
Release-StaticLib,
Debug-DLL, Release-DLL entries
  If you are finished with step 3) those should be the same as your build output
directories
- Just change everything that looks like this: ../Debug - Static Lib/..
to ../Debug-StaticLib/..
  ( The same with: Release - Static Lib, Debug - DLL, Release DLL)
- Build the install_libgsl project

This should do it!
If this solved your GSLWindows problem, please let me know!

[GnuWin32-Users] [gnuwin32 - Help] libpng crash on png_read_info()

2007-09-04 Thread SourceForge.net

Read and respond to this message at:
https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4501301
By: jwrayth

When I try and use a precompiled version of libpng on Winddows, I get the out
access exception detailed on other threads here.

The apparent solution is to build the a version myself, and use that. Though
I get numerous linker errors indicating :

pngw32.def : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol png_libpng_ver
.\Win32_DLL_Release/libpng13.lib : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals

So I can't use a precompiled version, or build it myself. I get the beta version
to build, but then get even more linker errors when I link the .lib to
my project.

I either need someone to walk me through how to build this damn thing, or
provide
a precompiled version, if possible. Otherwise, I'm pretty much buggered.

Hi, I'm using the tiff2pdf function to convert tiff files to pdf. However if
i use the -j option (jpeg compress) the resulting pdf is predominantly pink
in color. The man states that this operation requires libjpeg to be compiled
with libtiff. How would i go about doing that (if that is in fact the problem)

All help is much appreciated

Libtiff has been configured with jpeg support, so I don't think this can be
the problem. Most likely, it is some bug in libtiff or libjpeg. I'll look into
this. In the meantime, you may use the -z option, which compresses with
Zip/Deflate
and which seems to work correctly on some sample files I have tried.

I've been using find for many years in the linux bash. Now I'm confused when
using gnuwin32's find.exe,
e.g. this way:

find path -iname *n
or
find path -iname *nnn*
or
find path -iname *nbb

work fine, but I get:

find: paths must precede expression
Usage: find [-H] [-L] [-P] [path...] [expression]

when executing this:

find path -iname *n*
or
find  path -iname *nb
or
find  path -iname *.nb
or
find  path -iname *b

What's the difference to linux find here? (a bug???)

Any path, like . or C:\users\user\documents.

Try searching for *nnn*, *nn* or *n* in the default path (.).

GNU Awk 3.1.3 on WinXP

Was there a windows XP patch that came out around Sep that caused Gawk to not
work completely?

I have awk scripts that used to work fine on my XP and Win2kPro machines; but
as of Sep 2007, they only partially work on XP now. The code still works fine
on Win2kPro. Below is the error message:

  gawk: a.awk:59: (FILENAME=d.txt FNR=15) fatal error: internal error

  This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
  Please contact the application's support team for more information.

The odd thing is that, now, the awk code does process several lines of text;
but stops when it does a more complicated match on XP. This code still runs
fine on Win2kPro. My guess at this point, is that my Win2Kpro machine no longer
gets patches pushed out by my company, whereas my XP machine does.

It seems to be bombing when it reaches this line of text:
PWA A12345-001-B-UNCB   UNC 2   E

on this line of code:
if ( $2 ~ /^[A-Z][0-9]+\-[0-9][0-9][0-9]?\-[A-Z]+\-[A-Z]+/ ) {

Thanks, in advance, for any suggestions!
-Schube

According to the manual, gzip archives the files given as arguments and, when
one of the arguments is a subdirectory, the files in that subdirectory. So,
it does not seem possible to gzip the files recursively. You'll have to create
a list of files first, e.g. with find from the findutils, and then give these
as arguments to gzip. For example:

find.exe tree -name *.txt -exec gzip.exe -kvr {} ;

If I understand your question correctly, you want to omit the filename from
the output. grep --help shows that the -h (--no-filename) option achieves
this.

PS. Questions regarding the ordinary (i.e. not related to the MS-Windows port)
usage of programs are best asked on the program's mailing list, not on one of
the Gnuwin32 forums. Moreover, nothing is so simple as grep --help or as
reading
the manuals.

Such a question is probably too technical for this list, which treats only
simple
questions or questions related to the port to MS-Windows. It is perhaps best
asked at the bison mailing list; see the bison homepage.
