CREATIVE NON-FICTION WRITING CLINIC
This clinic is directed at people who have always had the urge to write,
and may even in fact have significant quantities of unfinished work or
meticulously maintained diaries , but have never been able to complete
even one literary journey. Its main purpose will be to help them bring
to completion a work of creative non-fiction. ( Creative non-fiction as
used here covers everything from travelogue and memoir to fiction which
has reality as its starting point.)
The clinic will be conducted by Vikram Sundarji whose work of creative
non-fiction for Penguin, 'Little Kingdoms' was the only travelogue (apart
from Pico Iyer's ' Tropical Classical' ) to be placed on the publishers
50th Special Anniversary of Independence Shortlist. In addition to
featuring in several leading journalistic publications, Mr Sundarji's
creative non-fiction writing has also appeared in the 35th Special
Anniversary issue of London Magazine the British literary magazine (which
has featured Keats , Wordsworth , W.H Auden, Sylvia Plath and R. K.
Narayan amongst others).
Schedule and Methodology: Mr Sundarji's method is to work one-on-one
with selected participants for one - two hours every week. Prior
submission of excerpts from incomplete writing is necessary. All
selected participants then meet together on Fridays around a bonfire to
read and discuss work together.
