The recent coverage of news relating to the unfortunate and shocking
murder
of Fr. Eusebio Ferrao shows the levels of depth journalism, especially of
the 'tele'-variety has sunk to. The worst culprits are those who
masquerade
as freelancers, purportedly following the news trail and signing off from
the trail end. The geographical location is a fudge to convince the reader
of freshness and nascency of news.

Raol Carneiro's message is well thought out and i agree with him.

WE DONT KNOW YET THE FULL TRUTH OR FACTS

This has reference to Mr. Godfrey J I Gonsalves comments

My intention of writing this is to express my opinion and urge people
to write the most appropriately specially in very sensitive cases, like
the murder case of the priest as it affects the community at large.

[Goanet] Re: HIV test to be made mandatory for marriage

2006-03-22 Thread Marie D'Souza
I totally agree with Elizabeth Carvalho's message on the topic Re: HIV test
to be made mandatory for marriage..

The government does not have the right to legislate on a personal decision
between two individuals. If either of the two parties (in arranged
marriages) has any doubt then they can request the other individual to present
the report of an HIV test as a condtion of the contract being undertaken.

If we allow the Government to enter into the private lives of indiviuals with
this proposed legislation .. will there be any way of stemming the invasion?

2006-03-12 Thread Marie D'Souza
Dear Valentine

Reading this article i have just realised what type of area is involved in
the proposed development of Goa. (for Goans) Since forest land is involved
perhaps the Ministry of Environment at the Centre should be informed and
objections raised, rather than limiting ourselves to raising objections
only
within the Panchayat or the State - who tend to be corrupt and do not want
to see the wider issues involved.

 ..
Under assumption that very few people know where this
IT Park is going to be located, I am taking the liberty
 to inform you all.

..
IT Park is going to include this area. In fact it is
proposed to include a huge area of 12.5 lakh sq. m.
of prime forest land - the entire topmost ridge of the
 plateau stretching from Salvador-do-Mundo village
in the south and ending on the border of Ucassaim village
 in the north. .

But the questions we are raising about the necessity
of destroying forest land (half of the area proposed
for the IT Park is Private forest area),how the government
proposes to treat sewage and garbage generated, whether
it has conducted an Environment Impact Assessment are not
only being met with silence from the government but are

You replied:-

 Hey Joe,

If you knew how HIV/AIDS is contracted by most of it's victims you would
not ask such a question. It's not
the Goa government that is engaging in risky behavior.
Unfortunately, they are left to react to the
irresponsible behavior of most of the victims.
Stay monogamous, use latex condoms, avoid sharing
needles, and you should be fine. ...

Marie would like to say

yes the Goa Govt. as well as the other state govts. and the Central Govt
are all responsible because

1.- they are not doing enough to check that in their hospitals the same
syringe and needle is not used on mulitple poor patients without proper
sterilisation. (The govt hospitals cannot afford disposable syringes, I
suppose)

2. they are not doing enough to check whether thier own as well as privately
run blood banks, hospitals, clinics, laboratories, dental clinics, barber
shops, tattooists are following proper prescribed procedures so that the
virus is not spread from customer to customer.

Else how can you explain the disease in persons - children whose parents are
negative; non-promiscuous women whose husbands are negative; men who have
never had sex with anyone but their wife and she is negative.

Jose Colaco you have probably been out of Goa for many years and do not know
that in Goa Builders and farmers go to Karnataka and Maharashtra to bring in
labourers!
The older generation of goans (at least here in north goa) say the educated
goan youth are not willing or are not fit enough to do manual work. The have
not done no labour in their formative years !!

We want these labourers. Should they not avail of benefits? And it
is preposterous of you to suggest that a pregnant woman would travel hundreds
of kms to deliver her baby just for a ration card!
