You can post this draft letter on the Goanet chat page. US residents can copy this letter and retype on their letter head and post it to the appropriate authorities including President Bush and the Attorney General. Goans can also seek help and cooperation from their Indian friends to use the same/similar letter to protest the incident. Such a mass mailing would certainly have an important effect on the centers of power. Goans in Canada could do something very similar. This is just to say that in 1998, I visited the US from the UK & was subjected to the same ignorance ("Your name is Luis Francisco Dias. Are you sure you are from India & not from Panama or Colombia? You must be trying to stay here illegally. What is the purpose of your visit?"). I was detained for 3 hours, after which I had lost all interest in my visit to the US.
