Mumbai: GoAir, the low-cost airline promoted by the Wadias, which commences operations on Friday, said it would strive to develop new routes rather than emphasising on trunk route operations. The airline would commence services on the Mumbai-Goa, Mumbai-Ahmedabad, and Mumbai-Coimbatore sectors, with six flights daily. This would be strengthened to 12 flights from the second week of operations. Jeh Wadia, Managing Director, GoAir, said the airline would not emphasise overtly on revenue-generating routes such as the Mumbai-Delhi, and Mumbai-Bangalore sectors as it would mean allocating at least 10 per cent of its capacity to operations in the not-so-lucrative sectors such as those in the North-East. The airline would connect all the four regions over a period of eight to ten months, he said. Speaking to presspersons on the eve of the first commercial flight, he said the airline, which was commencing operations with a single A-320 aircraft on lease, planned to have at least 36 aircraft on its fleet in the next three years.
