MUMBAI, APRIL 3: Hitting the common man hard, about 2.5 lakh employees of 
State Bank of India went on an indefinite strike across 9,000 branches seeking 
revision in pension. The clearing operations of the bank were severely hit by 
the stir. 

Long queues were seen in front of the SBI branches and ATM counters across the 
country with many customers complaining about the machines running out of 
money. Salaries of many state governments and private companies will be hit in 
the coming days due to the strike as SBI — the largest commercial bank — is 
the clearing agent in many of the towns across the country.
