Course in Industrial Chemistry at St. Xavier's College. St. Xavier's College offers the 3 year Degree Course in Industrial Chemistry. The course has many unique features. One of them is the 60 days on the job-training at different industries provided to students to acquire skills which they can use for the production of goods and services ant to motivate them for continuous upgrading of knowledge and skills in the context of ever changing production technology. Some of the industries wherein these students have undergone training are E-Merck, United Breweries, Centaur Pharmaceuticals, Geno Pharmaceuticals, Centaur Drug House, Blossom Pharmaceuticals, Blue Cross Pharmaceuticals, Venus Ethoxy Ether, Esteem Industries and Cosme Pharma. Our past pupils are presently employed as quality control chemists, marketing executives for pharmaceutical companies and a few are pursuing their master's degree in India and abroad. The eligibility criteria for the course is Std. XII science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with a minimum of 60% marks. Graduates in Industrial Chemistry have openings in such industries as plastics, rubber, oil, cosmetics, fertilizers and pharmaceutical Industries. They work as a team with chemical engineers to check properties of raw materials and ensure that the end product meets the requirement of the specific industry. The field offers a wide range of job opportunities especially after post-graduation.
