Goan priest releases music album at Asian meet

Shirya Laira an English album of songs of praise by Pilar priest Fr.
Nixon
D'Silva was released by Bishop Cyprian Monis, the chairman Bishop of CBCI
Youth Commission at the 3rd Asian Youth convention held at Bangalore on
the
 11th of this month.

At the release ceremony, Bishop Cyprian told the gathering that the album
was dedicated to the Asian Youth and commended Fr. Nixon for his effort.

Shirya Laira is a sound of praise to God and, while it is based on the
reflection on my life as youth, the songs highlight youth and peace, said
Fr. Nixon who was ordained priest at the Pilar Seminary just a couple of
 years back.

Two songs from this album are also adopted in 'Vibrations', the official
album released by the Asian Youth Meet committee.

The Asian Youth Meet organised by the Indian Catholic Youth Movement of
the
CBCI was attended by over 714 youth from 19 countries. Held from 9th to
16th
August, the theme of the meet was 'Asian Youth for Peace'.

A production of the Society of Pilar, all songs and music are composed by
Fr. Nixon D'Silva and music sequenced and arranged by Acacio Periera. It
is
 available on audiocassettes and CD's.
