Heritage Musical Show 05. Konkani Heritage Kuwait successfully organized the first Konkani show of the year on 14th of this month at Hawally Hall popularly known as Hawally A/C Hall. Though the show was not attended by the capacity crowd yet all those who attended it were delighted by the nice entertainment. During the show three Konkani CD's were released one of Veeam Bond Braganza, the other of Lawry Travasso and the third was of Peter Roshan. The skit Antun Poun Paiem Sodd witten and directed by Rosary was well accepted by the audience. It was very meaningful and interesting and all the participants did their roles well. Among the local artistes script writer and songster Rosary Ferns shouldered the major responsibility of the entire show including compeering along with a new comer to Kuwait Miss Marian from Anjuna. Rosary Querobina Sanny rendered two trios while Sanny and Querobina rendered their individual solos, so also by Domnick Fernandes, Bab Agnelo Vishwas Remimbus. The duet of Roney and Jasmine rendered their songs. Among the visitors Roshan and Peter did their best to satisfy the tastes of the audience and comedians Prince Jacob and his brother Humbert handled the comedy roles and youngster Veeam Bond Braganza was the star of the show. She was the major attraction picking the attention of the entire crowd attending the show. Her beautiful youthfull looks and melodious voice kept the audience happy. All her songs were well applauded by the audience. Lawry Travasso in his fast solo mixing up with the audience along with Prince Jacob with Goan traditional musical instrument Gumott created lively athmosphere in the hall. His other solo on Saibinn was very interesting. The climax of the show reached at the end when Rosary Ferns prepared medley made the audience extremely happy. It was a chain of oldies which brought nostalgic feelings into the minds of the audience. The musician and writer Bonaventure DPietro was honoured on the stage during the show for his contribution in the promotion of Konkani. On behalf of KHK, the president Fidelis Fernandes presented Bonaventure with memento. The others who were presented with commemorative plauques were Veeam Bond Braganza thru the hands of Lawry Pinto the president of Youth Recreation Centre and musician Denise thru the hands of Joseph Desouza the vice president of KHK. The musical score was beautifully provided by top musicians Philip, Roney, Fausto, Sucorro, Denise and Allen. HERITAGE MUSICAL SHOW '05 IN KUWAIT Konkani Heritage Kuwait presents Heritage Musical Show ' 05 directed by Fidelis Fernandes on 14th January 2005 at the Hawally A/C Auditorium, Kuwait. The organizers have flown seven topmost stage artistes from Goa to participate in the show. While comedy Prince Jacob and comedy supremo Humbert are to get the comedy in the musical show going, Melody Prince Lawry Travasso is to mesmerise the Kuwait audience with his melodious voice. Among the songs, Lawry will render the all time super hit song 'Saibinn'. The admirable pair Peter-Roshan, well known for their hit duets sung on Hindi pop tunes, will add colour and glamour to the show. Roshan is scheduled to sing the popular Konkani solo 'Dhoom' based on the Hindi movie song of the same name. Young pop sensation Veeam Bond Braganza will belt out some hot favourites of Goa's nightingale and diva Lorna. This young singer has made a mark in Goa with her captivating voice and will be performing in Kuwait for the first time. Renowned Konkani writer/novelist Bonaventure D'Pietro will perform solo on wind instruments at the show. The organizers will felicitate this 2004 Thomas Stephens Kendr Award winner for his contribution to Konkani literature. A short skit titled 'Antun Poun Paiem Sodd' by Kuwait-based tiatrist Rosary Ferns will be an added attraction at the show. The musical show will showcase the talents of Goan tiatrists based in Kuwait viz., Marcus Vaz, evergreen Querobina, Sanny de Quepem, Domnick, Bab Agnelo, Bernard Fernandes, as well as Mangalorean singers Viswas Remimbus, Roney D'Cunha and Jasmine D'Cunha. A special trio paying tributes to the late Brazilian footballer Cristiano Junior will be sung by Rosary Ferns-Querobina-Sanny de Quepem. HERITAGE MUSICAL SHOW 05. One of the artistes coming to Kuwait to participate in the Heritage Musical Show 05 and who will capture the attention of the entire Konkani society in general and Romi readers and writers in particular will be Bonaventure DPietro from Anjuna, Chinvar, Bardez Goa. Born and brought up in Goa his first education was in his local Parochial School where he also learnt to play music. In the beginning he mastered the art of playing Violin and later on followed with other blowing instruments. In the past we Romi Konkani followers had great writers whose books and novels have created strong impact on our society. Damaciano Caridade was the gigantic writer whose books used to give me lot of information and knowledge. His last book Eden was just a masterpiece. Such books are not written now nor such writers are born now. Reginaldo Fernandes is yet another Romi Konkani writer whose worth one easily cannot assess. His books known as Romansi during those days had a great demand. Though a very soft spoken man who used to take lot of pleasure in talking to me on so many subjects at so many times but when pen and paper in his hand he would create wonders. Besides them there were so many of high caliber, some are dead and others are still going strong. One of them is Bonaventure DPietro whose works in Romi Konkani acquired him lot of fame and laurels. His writings such as Soitanacho Ghutt, Kallea Vistidachi Choli, Clara, Mojea Paicho Fond, Ek Bhett Munglurchea Xarak and Mhaka Jieunk Zai got him prizes from different organizations. Besides, he also wrote innumerable stories, articles and novels which were read by the Romi Konkani readers. Hanv Zolmonkuch Naslim Zalear will be his new novel, which will be released shortly. Bonaventure Pietro worked as a writer in many of the Konkani publications such as Udentechem Noketr, Novem Goem, Gulab and Konkan Mail to name a few. During the last few years he is editing a magazine Arso. He also translated many of the writings from English to Konkani. As a tiatrist he wrote number of tiatros, khel tiatros, one act plays, composed and rendered songs, mandos dulpods. His programmes have also been relayed by All India Radio, Panjim. In 1999 his play To Amguer Ietolo was shown on Durdoxan.(TV). As a musician, he plays Alto Saxaphone, Tenor Saxaphone, Soprano Saxaphone, Clarinet and Violin. In Bombay some eyars back he had his own Band known as Bonaventures and Bob Brown Combo (B.B.C.). Currently he is having his own Band in Goa known as Pietros where his musican and music teacher son helps him a lot. I had an opportunity during my recent visit to Goa to see at Pilar Seminary Bonaventure playing the blowing instrument with a thunderous applause from the packed hall. His young musician son gave him accompaniment on the Keyboard. Because of his enormous contribution in the promotion of Konkani and Music, he was honoured in 1974 by Kirkol Goans Association in Bombay; in 1974 by Anjuna Panchayat; in 2002 by Silver Waves Boys Assagao; in 2002 Lions Club of Anjuna and this year by Thomas Stephen Konknni Kendr with Fr. Antonio Pereira Award. In the past Konkani Heritage Kuwait has honoured many of the Konkani stalwarts. Similarly this time during his participation in the Heritage Musical Show 05 Bonaventure DPietro will be honoured by KHK. The worth of this man who is simple and humble is really great in the eyes of intellectuals. He has devoted his total life for the cause of Goa, Konkani and Konkani Art even by denying him and his family of so many benefits previlleges. To serve these causes he even turned down lucrative offers to work in the Gulf some years back. I am sure Konkani community as a whole in Kuwait will welcome Bonaventure Pietro on 14th January 2005 where he will also entertain the audience by displaying his musical talent from the Stage as well. It will be a rare opportunity for many of his followers readers who read his writings, stories, books and novels.
