Hello Rene
According to Oxford dictionary, a freedom fighter is a person who takes part
in a revolutionary struggle.
According to Cambridge dictionary, freedom fighter is a person who uses
violent methods to try to remove a government from power:
It's often said that one person's freedom fighter is another person's terrorist
It all depends on how one sees it. Take the case of the freedom fighters of
Goa, how can one guarantee that they really did take part in the freedom
struggle and in what manner, whether they used guns or only morchas. How many
are reaping the benefits? I salute all those who really did fight in the
freedom struggle. But I wonder, when they see the way Goa is going, why non
are doing anything about it, but just enjoy the benefits that they and their
children get.
For a freedom struggle, morchas are a must, and hence all who do take part
must be labeled as freedom fighters, as one does not know, when police firing
will take place on these morchas, and how many will end up dead or injured.
As doctor Wilfred has said, that he was shot in his leg, the authencity of
which is unknown to me, but if it was during any freedom struggle, than I
believe he is a freedom fighter. And if you have taken part in these morchas,
than you too are a freedom fighter.
One need not be a suicide bomber to gain freedom, or create destructions, if
freedom can be achieved in a peaceful manner, even if its in a morcha. Indias
Father of the nation did it, Hunger strike, long morchas etc.
Cheers to you Rene.
