COMMENTS: It is not everyday that someone writes what Dr. Gomes has written above. Indeed, Goans are a confused lot, maybe in most aspects, but politically confused, definately yes a one hundred percent. And we do not have to go far. Just a few days ago the education department has come out with a 'Goa Liberation' VCD which has and will confuse Goans even more, to the point that they could go raving mad. This controversy has already tasted a calamity in the sad demise of the trusted lieutenant of Archbishop of Goa, Fr. Olavo Pereira. Then again, Goans prefering to 'wish' rather than 'want', is entirely true. If one wants something bad enough, one is ready to work hard, even to the extent that it might kill him. But the desire to want something badly drives people to excell. Goans (Bahujan Samaj) were so obsessed with suspicion towards the Brahimins and Catholics that post liberation they allowed a pipe dreamer in Bandodkar to ruin Goa and their own daily bread (read agriculture). That obsession has resurfaced now in full circle with a few bigotted and brainless Goans trying to undo what 450 year took to make it happen. And they call themselves Goa's freedom fighters. If Goans are sensible, which they aren't, they could bring in a revolution in the Goan political arena and drive these shameless usurpers of power and pelf into the arabian sea to drown. But this is not going to happen. We Goans are a breed that is 'suscegad' first, 'crabs in our mentality' second and people who will give away even our 'kastis' if someone would praise us and our kastis enough.
Needless to say, I propose three cheers to Dr. Hubert Gomes. May his tribe increase in leaps and bounds before it is too late for our own bloody Goan good. Floriano www.goasu-raj.org
