RE: [Goanet] INS-deported Canadian a Goan? Role of Goa Netters!!
For more information/links, see http://goanet.netfirms.com Dear Edgar, With your background and access to information, you could a draft a letter for all Goan residing in US to send to their US Senators and a copy t the INS protesting this incident. You can post this draft letter on the Goanet chat page. US residents can copy this letter and retype on their letter head and post it to the appropriate authorities including President Bush and the Attorney General. Goans can also seek help and cooperation from their Indian friends to use the same/similar letter to protest the incident. Such a mass mailing would certainly have an important effect on the centers of power. Goans in Canada could do something very similar. RE: [Goanet] INS-deported Canadian a Goan? Role of Goa Netters!!
For more information/links, see http://goanet.netfirms.com Whether Ms. Cruz has a strong case? We do not know. We cannot make the case strong with our strong feelings. Whether the case is strong or not, only a competent professional lawyer will know only after getting the facts from Ms Cruz. As yet, we do not know the facts from Ms. Cruz. I think it will be inappropriate to take any action regarding this incident either for the benefits of Ms Cruz or others WITHOUT THE CONSENT of Ms. Cruz Cip Fernandes London Tariq Siddiqui on 19 February 2003 23:08 There need to be two similar letters that should be written. One would be from people living in Massachusetts and the other from people all over the US. This way, Ted Kennedy will know the level of interest on this issue from his constituents as well as other Americans. The local chapter of a Goan association in Boston needs to use its membership to gather signatures for this. As for Neal Pinto's earlier query on whether Mrs. Cruz can sue the INS in the US. She can, all she needs is a competent lawyer and lots of patience. There have been cases like these in the past and the US government usually settles. I personally think she has a strong case, though this is the opinion of someone who is not an attorney. -- Tariq Siddiqui [EMAIL PROTECTED] *** Rockets Lover! This is just to say that in 1998, I visited the US from the UK & was subjected to the same ignorance ("Your name is Luis Francisco Dias. Are you sure you are from India & not from Panama or Colombia?
