Oh, yes. Until not very long ago, a bit before your times, playing the game down-caste was just not cricket.
Our Indians stuck to the 'noble' tradition incepted and maintained by the English clubs which would'nt countenance a benetonian rainbow, with the exception of the occasional maharaja.
