Eugene,
>From my perspective as an American I refer to Canada
as being "messed up" because there was a time when
Canada would have stood up and joined the US in
proactively going to the aid of innocent oppressed
people around the world. However, since they have
"re-directed" most of their previous defense spending
into social programs, they are unable to do so any
more. In fact, they now obstruct the notion of
liberating the oppressed. We'll see how they react to
the new threat from Iran's defiance of the UN and the
EU.

BTW, is the "mixed" Portuguese - Goan ancestry claimed
by Troy DeSouza mean he has mixed blood? Or is he
trying to insinuate to Canadians that he has European
blood and is using the sophistry that some Goans use
by claiming a Portuguese ancestry because of the
colonial-era "Estado da India" fabrication, where
Portugal claimed that Goa was not a colony but simply
an "overseas province"?

Folks,
One more tid bit ;-) about the Grewal couple.
They made the journey from refugees to MP's in five
years.
Such are the opportunities in Canada.
