[Goanet] Prabakar Sinari's daughter a Portuguese citizen
This message is in reply to Message: 9, Date: Sun, 9 Nov 2008, From: Bernado Colaco Bernado Colaco wrote: Close sources to BC inform me that Sinari once from the Azad Gomantak Dal a terrorist organization has a daughter who is a Portuguese citizen; moreover this girl is married to the white race. If this is all true one wonders if the word hypocrisy has any meaning My response: One can not and should not expect children to follow the same thinking logic of father. In this context I say that you cannot hold Mr. Prabhakar Sinari responsible. Yes, you would have been right if Mr. Sinari had done above act. I don't want to contest on other opinions raised by the writer. Best regards, Dr. U. G. Barad
[Goanet] Surprise expression.
This message is in reply to Message: 10, Dated: Sat, 8 Nov 2008 From: "J. Colaco < jc>" Jose, on above subject Dr. Samir has already answered you very aptly (Ref.: Message: 1, Date: Fri, 7 Nov 2008 From: Samir Kelekar Subject: Hindu or not?) and yet you had mouthful to say. Jose, will you re-check your earlier postings to Goanet in the month of March 2008! In one of your mail you made a mention that you are Matric Fail while replying to Dr. Annesimo's message!! Surprised? You have even conveniently forgotten what you had written to my query which was posted to Goanet immediately thereafter under subject title Confusing yet interesting. Through this message I had posed you a very simple question as to how can one pass M. D. & LL. B. without clearing Matric (S.S.C.)? And your replies to a simple question were equally complex and confusing depicting confused mindset as is your recent follow-up on the thread or are you still trying to prove the saying - Mais Papista do que O papa (Meaning in English, "Holier than thou" attitude) prevails in Goa. Jose, it's only because of such attitudes of some Goans during Portuguese regime, they (Portuguese) had tossed this phrase. You should understand that those days are gone and will never be back again in Goa. Any way for your quick perusal I provide following links. http://lists.goanet.org/pipermail/goanet-goanet.org/2008-March/070948.html http://lists.goanet.org/pipermail/goanet-goanet.org/2008-March/070953.html Jose, this makes me conclude that English, at this age, is indeed a difficult a language as remembering earlier writings/postings to Goanet. This message to you is from World Englishers. Best regards, Dr. U. G. Barad
[Goanet] COLVA NITE - A GRAND SUCCESS
COLVA NITE - A GRAND SUCCESS It was an occasion with nostalgia of home town – Colva United Centre (CUC) – Kuwait celebrated their annual event – COLVA NITE 2008 – as a part of celebration of COLVA FEAST – With Feast Mass at Holy Family Cathedral followed by annual event – COLVA NITE – at Fakher-El-Deen Palace Restaurant with a record crowd of selected guests to the full capacity of the hall. The function was kicked off by cutting of the Feast Cake by the Committee members followed by welcome address by the CUC President Alexander Menino Fernandes. Informal selection and crowning of COLVA QUEEN was the highlight of the function which was vied by 16 contestants followed by children games. The following were declared winners of Colva Queen Contest: Marcia D’Souza, was crowned as 1st winner, Delcina Braganza was 1st runner up, Maria Ferrao 2nd runner up, best smile award went to Elwira D’Souza and Sheryl Jesus walked away with best walk award. Variety of renditions by 'Rosary Ferns Mando Group', Cultural items by 'Viva La Goa' and folk dances by 'The Dance Fiesta' have regaled and climaxed the festival mood of the guests whose memories will linger for a very very long time … until next Colva Nite. A game of Housie and instant hampers have been generously patronized by the guests due to the fact that its proceeds are to be donated to Shanti Avedan Loutolim, Goa – which is a Cancer Hospice catering to the needs of terminally sick cancer patients. The function was ably compered by Merwyn Pereira and Tony Viegas. CUC Assistant General Secretary Manuel Rodrigues proposed the vote of thanks. Re: [Goanet] Prabakar Sinari's daughter a Portuguese citizen
I fully endorse BC on this (though I might not look eye to eye with him on most other things). If what BC has reported is true, which I will find out soon, I shall speak to Sinari again like I have spoken to him before. I have a special neck to deal with fake freedom fighters and it is not to say that they do not like my tongue. Flavian Dias has tasted it before during his sucking up to the BJP and the VCD on freedom struggle. floriano goasuraj - Original Message - From: "Bernado Colaco" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Sunday, November 09, 2008 7:37 AM Subject: [Goanet] Prabakar Sinari's daughter a Portuguese citizen Close sources to BC inform me that Sinari once from the Azad Gomantak Dal a terrorist organization has a daughter who is a Portuguese citizen, moreover this girl is married to the white race. Re: [Goanet] The opposition from the Freedom Fighters
And what do the freedom fighters got to show us Goans rather than collecting their pension cheques , asking for govt jobs for their next of kins, and blackening of Portuguese road name plaques? and showing-off their huge ignorance about the modern world with their canned brains with the hate for the Portuguese, where Portuguese themselves were the victims? These ilk of Goa's spurious freedom fighters should be banished from the Goan soil once and for all. We shall do it if given half a chance (goasuraj) One of them is Naguesh Karmali. I have personally openly challenged his holding the directorship of TB Cunha Institution in Panjim (where he was present) and have suggested that he be thrown out since he was a blot on TB Cunha's face because he was the mastermind of the Fontainhas mess-up. He had no guts to respond to my charges. And this darpook has fought for GOA??? when he could not defend himself in his own house? I understand Sam talking in favour of FFs because he is the son of the FF. But Goa needs to cull real FFs from the fake ones ( like Karmali) and denude them of all the past privileges given at the cost of us, the tax payers. GOA will have and will maintain good relations with Portugal whether these blind, closed, senile so called Goa's Freedom fighters like it or not. The onus is on the real FFs (if they exist) to salvage their honour by de-associating themselves from these loud mouth pariahs. Note: Maria Aurora Couto was present at the TB Cunha Hall when I tore Karmali to pieces publicly. Her article appears on this week's 'NT Panorama captioned "GOA & PORTUGAL -- Looking Ahead ". Goans must read this to know and recognize the closed mindset of the pariah FFs who make placard noises to authenticate their pensions. And when Sam asks: "Does Portugal count in today's world first of all ?" my qualified response is 'Yes' very much and any time, face to face with today's India whose leadership has no backbone to stop innocent people getting killed, injured, maimed, burnt alive and their houses destroyed by the BJP-Shiv Sena sheltered thugs running amok. Look at what Khuswant Singh has to say about these leaders in his piece on the NT Panorama (today's) captioned 'Goonda Raj' For Sam's information His and My India is today a mess called SHAME, reduced to this status by pea-brained peacocks strutting in high positions with their back-sides open to show no substance :-)) This includes Manmohan Singh and Sonia Aunty. floriano goasuraj 9890470896 - Original Message - From: "Samir Kelekar" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Saturday, November 08, 2008 10:57 PM Subject: [Goanet] The opposition from the Freedom Fighters Portuguese slave oops citizen Paulo Colaco Dias writes some good things about democracy, but then he calls freedom fighters who opposed this so called "celebration" fake. [Goanet] Goa's Freedom Fighters
This is with reference to the recent report in the Media that the Freedom Fighters are opposing an upcoming Portugeese Cultural Event With all due respect to all freedom fighters, I would really request to know, what really happened in 1961? With key strong factors on our side (A) The United Nations behind Goa, stating self-determination (B) Goans being aware of constitutional provisions to states like Kashmir etc. I really can't digest the fact that, Goans so easily agreed to accession, without any safeguards to preserve our unique identity. *What freedom does it look like today; Is it Liberation of Goa from the Portugeese or from the Goans? * Surely the Freedom Fighters must have fought for Genuine Goan interests. The Freedom Fighters can oppose the cultural event if they wish; but I think there are bigger issues for Goa & Its Identity that they should spend their time on; and make a difference. [Goanet] God and you
Albert writes:- When God created the world there was a bond of love between humanity and God. He created the world to make man a happy living being. He loved man but man got confused with the environment due to the sin of Adam that he strayed away from God. God condemed the sin of man but not man. He brought the people out from bondage and was with them in the wilderness. Finally He sent His only son Jesus so that Man could receive him gladly and absorb the word of God from him. But he was crucified on the cross and rose again from the dead. He forgave all those who had killed him. Today most of us are in the confused world. Those who are supposed to lead us are blind. They themselves do not know Jesus. The pride in them is so great that they do not want to accept that they are not the right prophets of God. Is man happy today ? If man cannot be happy in this world I doubt he will know what happiness is when he dies and enters a new life. Today everyone has become greedy. Everyone has become selfish and the two lovely commandments of God shortened by Jesus are so difficult to be followed. People run round the globe in search of happiness. They go to this god and that god because they are not sure about the way to Heaven. Inspite of the assurances given by Jesus when he said "I am the resurection and the life who ever come to me will be saved. I am the truth and the life " we still want to remain in a dark tunnel of life. It is high time that man needs a change of life. It is time he understands who Jesus is and it is time he takes the bible and reads for directions. Life would have been a moment of happiness if only we had to follow the two simple rules. Love God above all things and love your neighbour as Jesus has loved us. Our prayers are mere recitations of hundreds of Our Father, and thousand hail Marys will not bind us with the Lord and also not bind us to the people whom He has created. God has not created any mediator between Him and You except Jesus. Amen _ Register once and play all contests. [Goanet] Kenyan saying comes true
Folks, For the non-East Africans here, there are two major tribes in Kenya. The Kikuyu's, who have dominated politics and business, and the Luo's who have been kept out of political and economic power. Someone pointed out to me this week that a pessimistic Kenyan saying actually came true this week. The saying? "It would be much easier for Luo to become President of the United States than for a Luo to become President of Kenya." Needles to say, Obama's father was a Luo. Mervyn3.0 __ Be smarter than spam. [Goanet] Goan mutations-3: HERALD(Goa), Nov 9, 2008
GOAN MUTATIONS-3 By Valmiki Faleiro Goan mutations are one classic example. Of the result of laws mule-headedly aped from Maharashtra in the early post-Liberation years. And implemented half-baked or selectively. Like the Land to the Tiller Act, where ‘big bhatkars’ like the Ranes of Sattari quietly dispossessed their tillers even as the law was being enforced by one of their own: Pratapsing Rane, then a MGP Revenue Minister. Maharashtra’s land laws were meant for Maharashtra. Goa’s land-holding patterns differed from those in most of India. Worse, even as such laws were fundamentally amended in Maharashtra, little changed from the archaic in Goa. Nothing prevented the Congress (1980-2000) and BJP-led (2000-04) governments from amending flawed statutes, to make them better suited to local conditions. But, given their extra-curricular distractions, it’d be grossly unfair of Goans to expect their governments to govern in the realm of the curricular. In the rest of India, lands belonged to the State. Lands turned private when, under laws like the Land Revenue Code (LRC), patches were granted to private parties for revenue. In Goa, lands were held collectively in the name of the ‘Gram Purush’ (village deity.) Private – but not individual – ownership. This was central to the ‘ganvkari’ (‘comunidade’ in the Portuguese era), a ‘Village Republic’ system that existed much before the Indo-Aryans of North India conquered and adopted them as their own. The ‘ganvkari’ system was refined by latter day Sumerians (temple priests), who landed in sailboats – of all places, at Varca in Salcete! Conventions of ‘ganvkaris,’ codified by the Portuguese, allowed leases (‘aforamentos’) which, on lump sum payment of 20 years’ lease fees, turned community lands freehold. Goan land holding thus took a unique form. Yet, unsuited laws from elsewhere – mainly from Maharashtra – were imported into Goa. Like the LRC, which regulates matters of survey, partitions and mutations. Elsewhere, the LRC applies only to State-granted lands. In Goa, it has been enforced for all lands: temple, church, community, and private. The mess of Goan mutations stems from this ill-fitting LRC. Even as its provisions are followed more in breach, the ‘aam aadmi’ in India’s “No.1 State” is subjected to harassment and extortion. Let’s look a bit more at how this happens. We were on service of mutation notices. One way to defraud a Goan Catholic landowner – absentee or resident – for example, is to serve a mutation notice via a Marathi daily that Catholics generally are unable to read. Fraudsters on the prowl devised other methods. Befriend the beat postman. If he agrees to the bribe, he will return a notice to the landowner back to the Mamlatdar with the remark, “Refused” or “Intimated” – which, in law, is good service. Oblivious, the legitimate owner is ‘dispossessed’ of his land in official revenue records. Earlier, village Talathis carried out mutations under supervision of the Circle Inspector and Mamlatdar. Malpractices and corruption were galore. Let me cite a quaint case. There was this Talathi in Curtorim constituency when Francisco Sardinha was its longtime MLA. Without any legal basis, the Talathi posted a mutation, ‘dispossessing’ the rightful holder, a woman. The woman learnt about this in good time. Accosting the Talathi and Mamlatdar didn’t work. She met Minister Sardinha. He summoned the Talathi and, verifying the fraud, told him to rectify the record or face dismissal from service. The Talathi returned to his office and, same day, without any document or ado, promptly reversed the mutation! Here is a case related by another Curtorim friend – at the other end of the spectrum. Despite a Court decree in ‘Inventario’ proceedings, the mutation of a property allotted to him wasn’t getting done. My smooth-talking Saraswat friend met the Mamlatdar. “This cannot be done,” said the latter. “Why?” asked my friend. “Because the owner is dead,” was the daft response. “I know he is dead,” said my friend, “that’s why I filed the Inventario!” Nine months on, the mutation is yet to be delivered. Not to suggest that ALL talathis, postmen and Mamlatdars are corrupt – there still are, mercifully, a few with some ‘Goemkarponn’ left in them. But only a few. So rampant was malpractice at the village Talathi’s level that special posts of “Talathi for Mutation” were created at each Taluka office. Revenue records were computerized. Did things improve for the ‘aam aadmi’? Ha, now it’s more like jets being piloted by bullock-cart drivers. (To continue.) PS: Strange twists can occur when a language is twirled around an alien script. Sample this catch line in a newspaper ad on Oct 29 & 30: “Bum fodo, inaam jeeto.” In Romi Konknni, it would sound some strange “break the bum, your prize is still alive.” There are more colourful – but unprintable – interpretations. The line, of course, was in Romi Hindi! (ENDS) The Valmiki Fale

[Goanet] w: Elaine Murray - FR. BERNARD DIGAL DIES. INDIA MOURNS ANOTHER MARTYR OF ORISSA.
Dear Sir, One of my calix Greta D'souza has pass this touching news of Fr. Benard Digal... I Like to Share it with Goanet;s friends Rosario Franco de (Tuem) === NEW DELHI, India, OCT. 30, 2008 (Zenit.org).- Father Bernard Digal, 45, died in a hospital Wednesday from wounds he sustained in late August, when he was beaten by Hindu extremists. The priest served in the Archdiocese of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar, in the state of Orissa, the hotbed for a large portion of the anti-Christian violence that has plagued India since the August death of a Hindu leader. Father Mrutyunjay Digal, secretary of Archbishop Raphael Cheenath of that archdiocese, announced the priest's death to the Fides news agency.. He said the community was in "a moment of mourning, of silence and of prayer for the entire local Church." "During his life, Father Bernard showed determination and courage to give testimony and die for Christ," the secretary added. "He has died as an authentic Christian; immediately after the attack he suffered, he pardoned his enemies and persecutors." The Fides agency cited Indian Christian organizations in reporting that some 100 Christians have died as a result of the wave of persecution, while thousands have been wounded. Some 15,000 Christians are living in refugee camps and perhaps as many as 40,000 more have fled to the jungle to hide from the extremists. === READ THE SAD DETAILS OF THE SAVAGERY TO THE PRIEST AND HIS FLOCK IN ORISSA Mumbai: Fr Bernard Digal Dies, India Mourns another Martyr of Orissa Mumbai, Oct 29: Fr Bernard Digal has died after a slow agony of more than two months. The religious, brutally beaten by Hindu fundamentalists the night of August 25, has died two months later, this evening at 9:25 local time, from the serious injuries he suffered in the assault. On a Saturday, October 25, a feverish Fr. Digal was taken to St. a Thomas Hospital in Chennai, in Tamil Nadu; the doctors operated on him to remove a blood clot from his brain, caused by the beating on the night he was attacked. Yesterday, his lungs collapsed and he fell into a coma. This morning, the bishop of the diocese gave him the anointing of the sick; Raphael Cheenath, archbishop of Cuttack-Bhubaneshwar, was at his deathbed. The religious was given a respirator to keep him alive, but his body gave out. Last September 10, we published an interview of Fr. Bernard Digal, given from the bed at the the Holy Spirit Hospital in Mumbai where he was hospitalized. During the interview, he told AsiaNews about the night of the attack and the violence he suffered. Fr. Bernard denounced 'without bitterness, but also without sweetness' the brutality of the assault, following which 'he remained unconscious and half naked in the forest for an entire night, until he was found by his driver.' 'Fr. Bernard has been given the martyr's crown,' Raphael Cheenath, archbishop of Cuttack-Bhubaneshwa, tells AsiaNews. 'Fr. Bernard succumbed to the merciless beatings from the Hinduvta extremists. The Kandhamal Christians now have a powerful intercessor in heaven, Fr. Bernard will now continue his work for our people from his heavenly home.' 'I Thought I Might Not Even Get a Burial': Fr. Digal Priest Recounts Close Brush With Death In Orissa.Father Bernard Digal, one of three Catholic priests who escaped death during anti-Christian violence in Orissa state, wondered if he would even get a burial after being beaten and left to die. Earlier News:Father Digal, treasurer of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar archdiocese, was visiting Sankarakhole parish when the violence began on Aug. 24. He narrated his close brush with death to UCA News.On Aug. 23, the priest and his driver Sisir Pradhan left the archdiocesan headquarters in the state capital of Bhubaneswar, 1,745 kilometers southeast of New Delhi. They reached Sankarakhole at around 10:30 pm. 'We had dinner. As we were preparing to go to bed after a tiring day, we received a call' saying Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, a Hindu leader based in the state's Kandhamal district, was shot dead. 'I could not believe it. We went to bed,' he recalled.. He recounted that he woke up the next morning hearing anti-Christian slogans and people yelling outside,' saying they wanted to kill missioners. Father Alexander Chandy, the parish's 65-year-old pastor, Pradhan and Father Digal remained inside the church compound the whole day and moved to a forested area at night. The situation 'got worse' on Aug. 24, Father Digal continued. 'We kept getting information on attacks and killings in villages. We got stuck in the forest and survived on dry food.'Father Chandy was sick and could not walk far. To provide him better shelter, the younger priest and his driver went to the house of another priest's brother in the village. They wanted to use his motorcycle to go to a safer place. Father Digal said they saw the entire house, including the motorcycle, on fire

Unemployment is rampant and we are left with only their hollow promises as made in 1961 but now conveniently forgotten. The only 'freedoms' now in practice are rampant corruption, goondagiri, thefts and 'what is yours is mine', i.e., the decorated Bandodkarial barbaric mundkars and tenancy acts to displace Goans with non-Goans which seems to be working brilliantly. The proposed rally seems to be nothing but another gimmick to get more state benefits, reservations and pension for them and their extended family members. That is the only reason these pseudo-patriotic pro-merger bunch of chest-thumpers are fighting for another state's language to be made our own. Why don't they ask their fellow countrymen to ban English? [Goanet] The opposition from the Freedom Fighters.
In a democratic society, anyone has the right to express his own opinion. So, the demonstration of opposition from the so called "Freedom Fighters" regarding the Portuguese week in Goa is not unlawful and no doubt that they are entitled to say whatever they want to say publicly. In the same way, Goans who want to celebrate and attend the Portuguese week are equally entitled to do so. We live in democracy after all. Sadly, what people actually fail to understand is that these are actually fake freedom fighters. Majority of them demonstrate not because of what they truly believe but because they need to continue to demonstrate publicly so that the Goan government continues to pay their pensions and other benefits such as the special Goa University seats for their descendents, etc. The true Goan Freedom Fighters are the ones who fought for an independent state of Goa. Not a conquered Goa by Portugal and not a conquered Goa by the Indian Union. Goa is not an independent state. It has been invaded and conquered by its younger brother - the Republic of India - in 1961 and d abandoned by Portugal in 1976. The real Goan freedom fighters were betrayed by both Republic of India and Portugal. In the end, we Goan lost out! The dream of the real freedom fighters is today forgotten. But real freedom fighters were the ones who wanted a democratic and free independent Goa. We got a democratic Goa and we got our freedom from the Portuguese. But we remain conquered by The Republic of India whose foundation and borders are younger than the Goan territorial borders by centuries. Best regards Paulo Colaco Dias.

Dear Hatman, A followup: My opinion has always been that is solely the prerogative of the curator as to who gets shown. Period. Of course interviews with the curator often reveal their thinking and selection process. Curators are also collectors, and the art markets is complex, but it is still their right to shape shows as per the concept they are presenting to the viewing public. They also shape the market, much as the artists may if they choose, and often do. The artst can always be an artist even if not known or with no works being sold. The curator needs art to curate. venantius > From: "Hartman de Souza" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: [Goanet] Mining and Art? > > One > is, of course, a little surprised, if not bewildered that the irascible but > brilliant Charudutta Prabhudesai finds no place on this otherwise fresh and > exciting take on Goan contemporary art. > >

Hi All, See if you are a victim: A top judge has warned that today's young, online generation may have trouble acting as jurors because they can't listen for long stretches. But is it easier to pick up information from a written passage or a spoken version? Try this unscientific test. The influence of the internet is threatening one of the cornerstones of British justice - the jury trial, according to the most senior judge in England and Wales. Lord Judge of Draycote, the Lord Chief Justice, says when it comes to information gathering, the net promotes reading at the expense of listening. We've decided to put his theory to the test by inviting readers to try our reading v listening test. At the heart of it is a short piece of testimony by the infamous murderer Dr Crippen from his trial in 1910. It also behooves artists to be aware of what they are getting into. Very often artists do not know the details of an exhibiting enterprise. They are only to hapy to be shown and seen, while internally discussing who is or who is not an artist. It takes a while to imbue the kind of awareness delineated in Hartman's thoughts, though not essentially required of an artist, nor the kinds of demands most artists subject themselves to. While remembering that individuals march to their own tune -- their own 'hyperphysics' one can only expect so much. Corporate sponsorship is often ardently pursued to realize projects. But awareness of what is entailed, one hopes is always considered. There are many kinds of interventions which the art cognoscenti, curator's and the artists themselves should attempt to make the field more egalitarian -- to begin with, it ought to be a concern. This takes time and some vision; failing which it is business as usual for the corporates and their PR personel. Subject matter on the part of an artist, and that difficult subjects get show is an altogether another issue but one that must confront notions of what it is to give and receive monies. One cannot be faulted in believing that artists of a certain stature -- in terms of measurable succes in the current art firmament, would be aware of what they associate with. This is easier said than done. Artists have to learn to voice themselves; for instance against the recent comments by Freedom Fighters against namesakes, things, and ideas Portuguese -- at the very, very least as a quid pro quo, by those having benfitted from ideas stemming from the Reformation, and many will contine to do so through various Portugese organs, relationships, educational experiences and other quaint blushes with colonialism. But this may be harder to do in Goa than I think. In Goa despite perceptions and appearances many of these beneficiaries are not in large number Christians. This means that opportunities that have been available have not spurned, to say the least -- they have been availed of. I say this since one cannot tell someone what opportunity to accpet or reject, as long as one knows how ones bed is beng made; or perhaps be blissfully unaware -- this not being entirely contradicory, although it may appear as such. [Goanet] Rebel BJP leader files papers in Goa
Rebel BJP leader files papers in Goa Saturday, 08 November , 2008, 14:33 Panaji: Former state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Suresh Amonkar has filed his nomination for North Goa's Pale assembly by-election as an independent candidate. The by-election has been necessitated by the death of Congress legislator Gurudas Gauns. The polling is on November 26. Amonkar, a two-time legislator and minister in the last BJP government, was denied party nomination this time. The state BJP instead has fielded a comparatively raw candidate in Pramod Sawant. The same party leaders, who had dismissed 'rumours' of Amonkar's disenchantment with the party, were seen making a beeline for the dissident BJP leader's house in Pale on Friday asking him to reconsider his decision. Among the leaders who dropped in at Amonkar's home were state BJP president and Lok Sabha MP Shripad Naik, leader of opposition Manohar Parrikar, south Goa legislator Damodar Naik, along with former state BJP presidents, Rajendra Arlekar and Laxmikant Parsenkar. After filing his nomination papers at Bicholim on Friday, Amonkar was not clear if he would seek support from BJP's rival, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), who still haven't announced their strategy for the forthcoming by-polls. "I am contesting as an independent because the BJP denied me a ticket," Amonkar told reporters. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Subhash Shirodkar and Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane accompanied Congress candidate Pratap Gawas when he filed his nomination for the Pale seat. Gawas is the brother of the late legislator. http://sify.com/news/fullstory.php?id=14793323 ~(^^)~ Avelino

2008/11/8 Bosco D'Mello <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > RESPONSE: If AIG went under what would have happened to "the whole World's > Banking"?? RESPONSE: Is it fair to ask the American tax payer to bail out the whole Worlds Banking. RESPONSE: Surely you jest. Why just Akron?? Oshawa, Windsor, St Catherine > (all in Canada) where GM, Chrysler, Ford have plants are in a similar bind. Akron, Ohio is the home of Goodyear - hence the burning of tyres! > RESPONSE: Now-now.are you making excuses for Obama's forthcoming > failures?? Two days after being elected he is already on record saying he > may not be able to 'fix' everything in one term. RESPONSE: His opening victory speech - he said he may not be able to fix it in one or two years perhaps not even one term - but with the goodwill of everyone America as a whole will get there - I promise you - or words to that effect. Is the situation any better in the UK?? Close to 2 million unemployed (6%); > Inflation at 16-year high (5.2%); Home prices depressed by 15% as compared > to last year. RESPONSE: Yes our situation is as bad or maybe worse than the USA - interest rates have been cut by a whopping 1.5 percent to a 1955 low of 3 percent., to help out. Mortgage holders will benefit only if they have variable interest rate loans - if fixed they will have to come off it at maturity, to avail the cheaper loans. Compounded, our Banks were sucked in, with buying Structured Investment Vehicles (SIVs) - the Lehmans of this World packaged these goodies and sold them on to our gullible Banks. The top shots have got their bonuses and even if cleared out, are sitting comfy, while the rest of the population have to tighten up their belts - Christmas, this year will be a gloomy affair. > Looks like the doom-and-gloom from the US is spreading across the pond and > to the far reaches of the world. Ohh..and dont lose count of Russia's > diminishing millionaires..somebody could possibly buy those Londoners in > Blue for a song soon...:-) RESPONSE: Me thinks it is between the blues and the reds from up North, this season - I favour the blues - we shall see. The man from Russia is purported to have lost 3 billion, which from him, is neither here nor there. > - Bosco -- DEV BOREM KORUM. Gabe Menezes. London.
