M-o-I should be one for all

I would like to clarify with respect to the earlier articles on the
English-as-medium-of-instruction issue that the 'anti-English' group is
not seeking a general block on English medium in primary schools, but
only in government-run primary schools. In the Indian reality this means
that the rich have a choice and can educate their children in English as
they can afford private education, while the poor have to study in
Konkani. This is blatant discrimination favouring the already
privileged, as everybody knows that English education gives a person a
big headstart in India as well as the world. If Konkani is to be
enforced as the medium of instruction in Goan primary schools--and there
are some convincing arguments to show that students benefit by doing
their early education in their native language--this has to be across
the board, i.e. private schools should also have to run their primary
sections in Konkani.

SOME TIME in 2003, the then Goa chief minister Manohar
Parrikar followed the footsteps of politicians like
Shashikala Kakodkar (during the short-lived PDF regime of
1990) in his stand against English-language education. He
said at a Marathi meet that "English cannot be the

English largely on the grounds that it is a "foreign language".

[Goanet] Good Letter for Overseas Goan Agents of Corrupt/Tainted Politicians

(Ref above Link) This is a Good Letter for reading; particularly for
Specific Overseas Goan Agents (UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman etc) of
Corrupt/Tainted Goan Politicians. These Agents are more than happy to
publicize themselves via dances, tiatrs, festivals, sponsorships etc with
known Anti Goan Politicians who are (A) Destroying Goa, its Land,
environment, identity and (B) Are the main reason via their faulty/corrupt
policies, for Goans to leave Goa in the first place!!

Also the various sponsorship that’s these corrupt politicians give to their
overseas agents to publicize themselves is actually “illegitimate money”;
obtained via wide-scale looting from the taxpayer and various destructive
activities like for instance the horrific scale of mining in Goa which is
(a) Devastating the environment on a catastrophic scale, (b) Rapidly turning
many areas from Brown to Green, (c) devastating hills/fields/agriculture,
(d) Turning water-bodies/rivers brown and sucking them dry, (e)
Contaminating the air (f) Health Hazards for people in those areas and soon
for rest of Goa etc; all for keeping a very few Politicians Filthy Rich and
using this money to buy out Goan voters, vote-banks and remain power. *Overseas
Goans, I request that you please do think of all the latter, when you dance
to the tunes of Goan festivals, dances and attend Tiatrs that are sponsored
by “illegitimate money” of known corrupt politicians; which is facilitated
via their agents in your respective Overseas Country.*

These Overseas Goan Agents are exercising their "democratic right" in giving
tacit approval to the Criminal/Corrupt Politicians to continue with their
Anti-Goan activities and hence, these selfish agents are also "part and
parcel" in the destruction of Goa and its Identity.

Maybe many Overseas Goans can’t be fully involved in Goa but at least we can
do our bit for Goa in our respective overseas country, by speaking out and
discouraging such Outrageous Publicizing of Destructive Anti Goan
Politicians by their agents. The choice lies with each one of us and
whatever we do or don’t do, will shape up the future of Goa and Goans!!

It is thought that Derozio was generally considered an Anglo-Indian,
being of mixed Portuguese descent, but he was fired by a patriotic

What SOTER has failed to mention about the 1961 annexation of Goa

sections of Goans in Goa ( notably the Catholics who aquiesced to
the idea of Portuguese citizenship as equal citizens who were
represented in Lisbon by goan representatives in a federal parliament
as being from an overseas province rather than a subjugated colony )
to engage in bloody revolution. Goans resident in India , loyal to
India were urging the " freeing " of goa from what they saw as
domination by an European Portugal with goan middle class of beauracrats
acting in consort with them.I remember the editor of the Goan Tribune in
Bombay then , ( was he a Soares ?? ) even exhorting the brave ones
in Bombay to join the satyagrahis in their forceful forays into Goa .
Santosh , you cannot deny that after India , ignoring the U.N. "
liberated " Goa and used a Military governor to rule by Presidential
decree for over a year. That is the style of a military occupier
keeping down a conquered people. The fact most senior positions in
goa were advertised first in Delhi and other states so that
competent goans in Goa then could be bypassed for for out-of- state
Indians has been swept under the carpet in the media. Follwing that
our hindu goans including that Shri Bandodkar agitated for
Goa to be merged into Maharashtra so as to share the
spoils of conquest with his marathi kith and kin with scant
regard for the different identity that Goa had by virtue of its
450 -year history. Remember the " Zalas Pahije ! " cries that wer
raised in the then Bombay regarding Goa being swallowed by them ?

It appears that in the following various Indian communities such as Rajputs,

a Goan name is also dragged into the mix. Among the communities that are
quite predictably left out are non-Indians such as Russians.

There are some who are busy administering sedatives on goanet to allay the

like to make it clear that we do not generalise this malaise to the whole of
any community as there is a sizeable chunk which frustrates these forces in

pretends to be naive and succumbs to these forces. But we are also aware of a

Antonio,
The good folks in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania head out to a mission,
St Anthony's church on the 13th, regardless what day of week it is.
That church used to be a tiny chapel on the outskirts of town when

Not to forget that on the top of St. Anthony's, Siolim, there is

[Goanet] FIR: Documents attestation is quicker abroad at Indian Embassy than at home Collectorate (North Goa).

2011-06-20 Thread JoeGoaUk
FIR: Documents attestation is quicker abroad at Indian Embassy than at home
Collectorate (North Goa).

At India High Commission in London it takes just one day.

And to get same document authenticated by Collector
back home it takes more than 3 days.

Here how it works:

In UK : London
Take you document in duplicate, Passport & photograph –
be there in the early morning Q (which is quite normal at
all Embassies)
At the counter, sign, pay 17 Pounds and submit -
Come back around 4pm for collection

At North Goa Collectorate: Panaji
Take your above document in duplicate, affix Rs.40 worth
‘Special Adhesive ‘ Stamps and application on plain paper
Present it before the clerk (Dept. No. 6) who will then
endorse it. You then proceed to Cash counter
to pay a fee of Rs.5 (five only). Be there before 4pm as
the cash counter closes at 4. You then go the another counter
(Counter 1 , Entry) to submit you documents.
You go back to ask when the document will be ready for collection.
You will be told – come not tomorrow but day after.
When you go there for collection on the third day at 4pm,
they may still say ‘not ready’
In our case, we were told that the collector is busy in the meeting and
that we can either try waiting or come back on Monday (which is after 6 days).

We decided to wait and try our luck as we come from far away.
Took an empty bench outside collector’s chamber.
After about 40 minutes, we saw some people coming out
from a section including Uniformed PI.
One of them ask some of us who we were waiting for?
We pointed a dept towards our right.
About 10 minutes later, seeing some staff members around, we asked – Has the
Collector come out yet?
‘Yes’ they said ‘it was the same person who was asking
you who you waiting for..’
We rushed to his office and enquired –
We were then told to go in and get it signed as our
document (along with many others) lying on his desk.

We waited and it paid our efforts and patience.

Not everybody will be so lucky though!

If Addl. Collector (Shri. NARAYAN SAWANT) takes 3 days or more
for attestation, I wonder how long does the Collector (Shri R. MIHIR VARDHAN)
take, one week?

In North Goa Districtrict (Panaji) – There is one Collector
and two Additional collectors
(second one being Shri. Amarsen Wamanrao Rane)

[Goanet] Goa Maroons Crowned Champions in a Spectacular Finish: J.P. D'Mello KIFF League in Kuwait

2011-06-20 Thread gaspersWorld ®

:::Kuwait Goans finish 2nd, Rising Stars take 3rd place:::
By Gasper Crasto

Kuwait: Goan Overseas Association (G.O.A) popularly known as Goa Maroons won
the prestigious J.P. D’Mello Memorial KIFF League Trophy defeating Kuwait
Goan Association (KGA) 4-3 in the final played at the ‘Peace & Friendship’
Stadium on 10th June 2011.

The season ending match of the Kuwait Indian Football Federation (KIFF), was
balanced in terms of performance in the first half. However it was Maroons
who surprised KGA with an early lead. Prolific scorer Kennedy Ferrao broke
the KGA off-side trap by a mile and took his time to round off the
goalkeeper before tapping into the empty net.

On the other hand Maroons goalkeeper Guilerme Gomes was able to defend on a
number of occasions. KGA who steadily organized themselves in the second
half showed class, character and a superb fighting spirit, attacking from
all ends with medio Bernard Pires dazzling in the centre. Ismayil, Luis Dias
Vitorin Menezes, Valente, Jacob Dias, Edward Dias, Cristo Colaco, Tiago
Fernandes, Anil Thakuri and Vico D’Souza also excelled for KGA. With minutes
left for the final whistle KGA drew level through Josse Fernandes who headed
home from a corner kick taken by Bernard (1-1).

The extra-time produced no result which sent the teams into a penalty
shootout. Maroons, already declared season’s champions for a super
performance throughout, were determined to finish on a high. Goalkeeper
Guilerme saved the last penalty in the tie-breaker to clinch victory for the
Champions. Ian D’Souza, Gabriel Fernandes and Bonny Niasso scored for
Maroons, while only Valente and John Costa were on target for KGA.

Later, Goa Maroons President Raymond D’Sa expressed great joy in the victory
and on winning the Trophy, a record equaling fourth time for Maroons in the
League history. Navelim Youth Centre is the other team with maximum titles.
Maroons coach Julio Cardoso told that such achievement comes with great
efforts by the players, noting that the title was a remarkable end to a
memorable league by KIFF which is played on league cum knock-out basis.

:::The Champion team:::

Goa Maroons comprised of Guilerme Gomes, Carlos D’Sa, Ian D’ Souza, Gabriel
Fernandes, Regi Rodrigues, Sandy Fernandes, Terence Carvalho, Patrick Pinho,
Bonny Niasso, John Ferrao, Elvis D’Souza, Joe Rebello, Joseph Correia,
Albert Pereira, Jose Savio Pereira, Everest Rodrigues, Valentine Gonsalves,
Jerry Mello, Julio Cardoso, Steven Rodrigues and James Figueira.
Coach: Julio Cardoso
Team Manager: Assumption D’Sa

The final was officiated by John Furtado supported by Victor Andrade and
Roland Fernandes on the lines.

Shri Vidhu P. Nair, Charge D'Affaires Indian Embassy was the chief guest at
the event while Mr. A. C. Roy, Chief Operating Officer Gulf Cable and
Electrical Industries Co. Was the guest of honor. Special invitees present
on the occasion were Mr. Huzefa (Asst. Marketing Manager of Al Mulla
Exchange) and Kevin Simoes, Joseph and Elvira D’Souza, ex-President of KIFF
Mr. V.K. Vohra, UFC President Cajetan Pereira, CRC Chinchinim President
Bosco Leitao, Navelim Vice-President Luis D’Silva, Rising Stars President
Lawry Pinto, Cajie of Skynet, etc.

The teams were introduced to the guest of honor Mr. A.C. Roy and other
dignitaries. National Anthems of Kuwait and India were played with great
respect and honor while a set of white doves were set free to mark the event
a minute’s silence was observed in remembrance of J.P.D’Mello.

A special attraction of the evening was a dance program performed by about
20 children from Ballerine's School of Dance under the direction of
Choreographer Sudhi Frantero. DJ Mario entertained the spectators with some
catchy numbers. The function was compered by Gasper Crasto.

KIFF President Fidelis Fernandes addressed the teams and emphasized on the
need for unity and support to the federation to carry out KIFF activities
smoothly. While applauding the support he received from his committee, he
expressed wholehearted gratitude towards Gulf Cable and Electrical
Industries for backing the Federation, and also thanked Al Mulla Exchange
for their tremendous support all season.

Mr. A.C. Roy also voiced his appreciation. KIFF Vice-President Clifford
Pinto proposed a vote of thanks at the prize distribution ceremony thanking
the sponsors, affiliates, referees and specially the media for the coverage
given to Indian football in Kuwait. The news on the league has been covered
by Kuwait’s Arab Times, www.indiansinkuwait.com, http://mangalorean.com/,
http://www.goa-world.com/, etc, among others.

Earlier, Rising Stars beat United Friends Club (UFC) 3-0 to win the hardline
finals for a 3rd position in the league. Prakash, Shafeeq and Lusiano scored
for Rising while UFC were strangely found wanting, conspicuous by the
absence of some star players.

I shall make a statement here that Eugene suffers from an acute defficiency
of 'common sense', though, through no fault of his.

If at all Goa Su-Raj Party is seen as 'impotent' through Eugene's eyes, then
it is a fact. Because Eugene is impotent himself in his thinking capacity.
If at all GSRP is seen as impotent, it is also because GOANS have shown the
streak of impotency in not recognizing a fire brand that is require for the
purpose of solving Goa's acute problems. Compare the entire political
spectrum of GOA with GSRP and one does not have to be a scientist to realise
that what I am saying is true. based on facts.

Eugene must know that for a winning horse to run the course, the
course/track must be provided, the start and finish line demarcated,
suitable winning jockey provided as also the cheering crowds along with
those who will commit suicides as the after effects of the race.

In the same manner, Eugene must realize that GRA is the winning horse
(because there is nothing like it as of now). The rest I leave it to
Eugene's imaginations.

PS: Race horses are strapped with eye shutters ( godeachim oklam) so that
the direction of its vision is controlled. GRA's (initial/formative) vision
was similarly being directed in a direction that would split GOANs rather
than unite them for the cause that it was cobbled together in the first
place. Therefore it was essential to remove this strapping altogether so
that the horse can see in all directions, place itself on the winning track
and gallop for the WIN.

And BTW1:
NGOs in GOA are multiplying in a manner that they are putting the amoeba
to shame.
By common sense, all of Goa's ills should have been addressed a long time
ago with so many NGOs in existence. But the fact is that the ills are
increasing by the day.

The analogy is like this:
NGOs are competing with each other to clean the 'shit' that is coming down,
courtesy the 'government'
The rat race with the NGOs is such that they are pleading with the
Government to send more shit downwards so that they can be busy, grow fat
etc.
Therefore, enter Goa Su-Raj, the 'shit' will STOP coming down altogether and
the NGOs will have nothing to clean.
That is the time when those leading the NGOs will abandon the cleaning and
go look for a JOB to sustain themselves.
BTW2 Most persons who grow fat being NGOs will starve if shit stops coming

I would like to add an important point to what Sandeep has nicely laid out
below. It is important to recognize that this debate, like all other political
debates, has been hijacked by activists and partisans who resort to
unproductive extremist rhetoric and hyperbole. Those who call others
denationalized on one side, and those who call anybody who disagrees with them
communal on the other side. Both need to be rejected.

[Goanet] TACKLING PANAJI’S GARBAGE SHOULD BE A PRIORITY

2011-06-20 Thread Aires Rodrigues
The current debate on whether Panaji should have a football stadium
needs a careful consideration. More urgent though is the question
whether the already congested city can sustain and cope with a
football stadium. A full fledged stadium on the outskirts of the City
may be an idea. Possibly the uncultivated fields along the Panaji -
Ribandar causeway could be considered as it would still be within the
jurisdiction of the CCP.

The Corporation of the City of Panaji has virtually clogged all the
city’s open spaces. Panaji’s priority should be to find a permanent
solution to the alarming garbage crisis. Infact the CCP should not
allow any further projects which generate garbage including a stadium
untill the garbage issue is resolved. The CCP needs to identify a site
for its garbage disposal plant within its jurisdiction rather than
unjustly dumping its burden on the neighbouring villages. Sadly the
Campal grounds may be the only venue available where the CCP's garbage
may have to be rested.

If we take Floriano's logic that "NGOs are all about making business

point in time," it would be right to believe that the GRA is also of
the same mould.
Floriano wants to straddle two stools, but he risks falling in between
them. He also tries to have the best of both worlds.
So Floriano wants to "render all NGOs out of work by drying out their
resources which comes from potentially impotent ruling political
parties which are in perpetual circulation."
As far as I know, the Su-Raj party is "impotent" in Goa's political
field. This so-called political party that seeks to show itself as an
NGO can definitely give ulcers to political observers. In my
dictionary, a political party is nothing but a political party and an
NGO is nothing but an NGO. Mix them up and you create an unpalatable
dish. The GRA has not yet won the people's hearts and minds. I don't
know what tomorrow will bring for this newest baby on the front of
NGOs fighting to save and preserve Goa. I have said before that with
so many NGOs in Goa, Goans have been served a good alphabet soup.
Goans can take their pick which NGO they want to support and which
NGOs they want to throw in the dustbin.
It seems that item no 1 has been framed conveniently to allow -Raj
party or any other political party that does not have a representative
in the assembly. Why did it not say that no representative of a party
which contested the elections should be allowed to be a member of the
GRA?
Floriano's only qualification to be part of GRA is his failure to win
an assembly seat.. I have no axe to grind against the GRA. I only
pointed out what I thought was a folly on having the secretary of a
political party, in this case the Su-Raj Party, as the secretary of
the GRA.

*In India, the state forcibly acquires land from farmers and hands it over

"The Earth upon which the sea, and the rivers and waters, upon which food
and the tribes of man have arisen, upon which this breathing, moving life
exists, shall afford us precedence in drinking."
- Prithvi Sukta, Atharva Veda

Land is life. It is the basis of livelihoods for peasants and indigenous
people across the Third World and is also becoming the most vital asset in
the global economy. As the resource demands of globalisation increase, land
has emerged as a key source of conflict. In India, 65 per cent of people are
dependent on land. At the same time a global economy, driven by speculative
finance and limitless consumerism, wants the land for mining and for
industry, for towns, highways, and biofuel plantations. The speculative
economy of global finance is hundreds of times larger than the value of real
goods and services produced in the world.

Financial capital is hungry for investments and returns on investments. It
must commodify everything on the planet - land and water, plants and genes,
microbes and mammals. The commodification of land is fuelling the corporate
land grab in India, both through the creation of Special Economic Zones and
through foreign direct investment in real estate.

Land, for most people in the world, is *Terra Madre*, *Mother Earth*, *
Bhoomi*, *Dharti Ma*. The land is people's identity; it is the ground of
culture and economy. The bond with the land is a bond with *Bhoomi*, our
Earth; 75 per cent of the people in the Third World live on the land and are
supported by the land. The Earth is the biggest employer on the planet: 75
per cent of the wealth of the people of the global south is in land.

Colonisation was based on the violent takeover of land. And now,
globalisation as recolonisation is leading to a massive land grab in India,
in Africa, in Latin America. Land is being grabbed for speculative
investment, for speculative urban sprawl, for mines and factories, for
highways and expressways. Land is being grabbed from farmers after trapping
them in debt and pushing them to suicide.

*India's land issues*

In India, the land grab is facilitated by the toxic mixture of the colonial
Land Acquisition Act of 1894, the deregulation of investments and commerce
through neo-liberal policies - and with it the emergence of the rule of
uncontrolled greed and exploitation. It is facilitated by the creation of a
police state and the use of colonial sedition laws which define defence of
the public interest and national interest as anti-national.

The World Bank has worked for many years to commodify land. The 1991 World
Bank structural adjustment programme reversed land reform, deregulated
mining, roads and ports. While the laws of independent India to keep land in
the hands of the tiller were reversed, the 1894 Land Acquisition Act was
untouched.

Thus the state could forcibly acquire the land from the peasants and tribal
peoples and hand it over to private speculators, real estate corporations,
mining companies and industry.

Across the length and breadth of India, from Bhatta in Uttar Pradesh (UP) to
Jagatsinghpur in Orissa to Jaitapur in Maharashtra, the government has
declared war on our farmers, our *annadatas, *in order to grab their fertile
farmland.

Their instrument is the colonial Land Acquisition Act - used by foreign
rulers against Indian citizens. The government is behaving as the foreign
rulers did when the Act was first enforced in 1894, appropriating land
through violence for the profit of corporations - JayPee Infratech in Uttar
Pradesh for the Yamuna expressway, POSCO in Orissa and AREVA in Jaitapur -
grabbing land for private profit and not, by any stretch of the
imagination, for any public purpose. This is rampant in the country today.

These land wars have serious consequences for our nation's democracy, our
peace and our ecology, our food security and rural livelihoods. The land

For several years the communalists and mergerists had managed to conceal their
true faces behing secular masks. They mingled within secular initiatives and

Congress is as Communal as the BJP. The likes of Uday Bhembre, Prashant Naik,
Arvind Bhatikar have had a field day by taking unsuspecting people for a ride.
But it is not possible for these masks to remain in place specially when one is
on a public platform.
The arrival of the Sagres Ship and the Medium of Instruction were the perdect
occassions that helped expose this duplicity which lay concealed for several
years and poisoned Goan society from beneath in the name of nationalism. It is
high time that the likes of Uday Bhembre, Prashant Naik and Arvind Bhatikar
must join the BJP rather than pretend to be aloof from any mischief and calling
the BJP communal. The cunning Arvind Bhatikar thought that he could even trick
the Archbishop of Goa into parading himself at the anti-corruption rally in Goa
by citing the example of the Archbishop of Delhi. But he miserably failed.
There are other dumb mergerists and communalists who continue to hold on to the

In the days to come the people of Goa will give a befitting reply to these

[Goanet] Delhi among the greenest capitals - Source Business Standard

2011-06-20 Thread Camillo Fernandes

20/06/2011
Delhi, the green capital
Delhi: The state forests department has pulled off a significant achievement by
increasing Delhi’s forest cover ten fold in the past 16 years.
Delhi's green cover has increased from 2 per cent to more than 20 per cent in
the last 10 years," Shiela Dixit had announced this Tuesday, addressing a
Business Standard function. It is a striking achievement, especially since
Delhi is the country's second-largest metropolis by area and third-largest by
population, and has seen several large-scale infrastructure projects in recent
years -- even though the chief minister was not exactly right about the time
frame.
It was in 16 years, from 1993 to 2009, that Delhi's green cover had jumped from
22 sq km to 299.58 sq km, that is, from 1.48 per cent of its geographical area
to 20.20 per cent -- a ten-fold jump.
No wonder Delhi has the distinction of being among the greenest capitals in the
world, and despite its urban sprawl, is home to as many as 430 bird species.
How did this come about?

"The main reasons for the increase in forest cover...is new plantation," says
the State of Forest Report, 2009. Of these, Bhatti Mines is the showpiece of
successful afforestation and eco-restoration, primarily through the efforts of
the 132 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) -- the Eco Rajputs. In the last
10 years, the Eco Rajputs have planted 1.1 million saplings in the abandoned
mines spread over 2,100 acres in the south of the state.
Densification of the forest cover in The Ridge, described as the lungs of the
city, is a more recent initiative, as are the plantations along the national
highways, and important junctions such as ITO Chungi, which were undertaken in
the run-up to the Commonwealth Games, and around 175 water bodies in the
national capital region.
There is, of course, far more that can be done. "There is potential to plant
along 40 km of the riverfront," says a senior official of the state
government's forests and wild-life division. "But it is all in the hands of the
Delhi Development Authority."

The government has also created a Bambusetam, an area dedicated to various
bamboo species, at Garhi Mandu. Damaged by intense flooding in the last two
years, it had 27 species of bamboos including the Black Bamboo, Giganticus and
Guadua. The plan now is to shift it to a 10-acre site in Asola.
But it is the policy of "compensatory afforestation" that has yielded the most
results. A provision that goes back to the Delhi Preservation of Tree Act,
1994, and later strengthened by a state cabinet decision of 2010, it entails
the plantation of 10 trees for every one tree that is felled.

Under the scheme, five of these 10 trees are planted by the forests department
and five by the person/institution which felled the tree. In addition, the
latter deposits Rs 28,000 for every tree felled, half of which is refunded at
the end of five years if the plantations are found healthy and thriving. Under
this scheme, forests have been planted on behalf of large infrastructure
companies.

For instance, for Delhi Metro, the forests department has planted trees on more
than 250 hectares in Kakrola, Issapur, Mungeshpur, Rewla Khanpur, Najafgarh
Drain, Rajokri, Aya Nagar, Hindon Cut and many other sites since 2004.

Similarly, for the Delhi Airport, Bus Rapid Transport system, National Highway
Authority, Indian Oil Corporation, etc.
Not everyone is convinced, of course. "Compensatory afforestation," says Pradip
Krishen, environmentalist and author of Trees of Delhi, "is a whole lot of
bull. Lovely old-growth trees are cut down, and someone plants 10 trees in
their place. More often than not, what's planted is a weedy tree of no
ecological value whatsoever, chosen because it's not browsed by cattle or
goats.
The people who plant it feed their efforts into the system -- so many trees
planted, etc. But within a few months at most, they stop looking after these
trees. What do you think happens? In most cases -- and partly because the
choice of species is wrong to begin with -- the trees die."

[Goanet] There cannot be another Goan Revolution

2011-06-20 Thread SOTER

S. Helekar continues:
"Soterbab appears to be creating his own exclusive reality here, one that no
other person who objectively reads my posts in this thread would be able to
recognize. I merely pointed out that Ramani was a Goan name that was dragged
into the mix. I never used the word "exclusively". Here is that pertinent
post of mine:"

Comment:
We do not understand English, Helekar bab.

S. Helekar continues:
In any case, I noticed that Soterbab was not able to state clearly a single
conspiracy theory that he believes in, let alone give any evidence grounded
in the reality that is not exclusive to his own eyes and ears, nor his
imagination. What's more, he wants me to take him at his word and receive
the wisdom that he, as a self-proclaimed non-politician, has received from
the horse's mouth and the mouths of all the genuine Hindus and non-Goans he
knows.

comment:
Please go around Helekar bab and see for yourself if you have any eyes and
ears in place. I never in the least expect you to take me for my word and my
wisdom. Lest you may be also accused of being an anti-national and an out
caste.

Re: [Goanet] Goenchea RAKHONDARANCHO Awaz floriano

2011-06-20 Thread floriano

Eugine,

You must not grow ulcers at the very mention of a political party.
These ulcers vanish when the balm from political parties like Congress, BJP,
NCP, MGP, Janata Party and now Janata Dal (U) of Nitish Kumar comes a
walking, splashing money.

FYI Goa Su-Raj Party is basically a NGO registered as a political party
because we have found that NGOs are all about making business and furthering
their own causes rather than of Goa and Goans at some point in time. The
main idea of registering a NGO as a political outfit is to render all NGOs
out of work by drying out their resources which comes from potentially
impotent ruling political parties which are in perpetual circulation.

Kindly read the item no. 6 below in conjunction with item no. 1

cheers

The GRA says:

GRA is not backed (even covertly) by any business lobby

GRA is not backed (even covertly) by any political party.
--
GRA replaced GBA because, as you'll felt, GBA was not performing its
job. I still remember the group Goa Protectors which, if I am not
mistaken, had MLA Victoria's son as one of its key leaders. This group
proved to be bunch of toughies whose aim was to intimidate and hurt
those they thought were public enemies or enemies of the leaders.

[Goanet] St. Anthony's Feast Day at Siolim

2011-06-20 Thread Antonio Menezes
Why not celebrate on the 13th June ( i.e. Monday this year ) as was
celebrated on the 19th. Simple any
feast day falling on a week day is celebrated on the following sunday.

Siolim was most probably known as the village of Shiva i.e. Shiva-le or
Shivo-le. And God Shiva has
a king cobra round his head.Perhaps it was a warning to the new converts to
forget Shiva's reptitian
devotion.
