[Goanet] NDTV's Truth vs Hype- Poor and Biased story

2012-02-26 Thread SOTER
This is not the first time that Sreenivasan Jain has given a slant to a Goa
story. Appears more of a BJP stooge. The recent story Truth v/s Hype is another
lie to the nation. Sreenivasan has chosen to air only the convenient views that
would substantiate his theory of Family Raj and anti-Congress sentiment. The
invconvenient truths about Family Raj voiced by Goans have been blanked out. He
has concealed the Church's stand on Family Raj and instead inserted some by the
way comment on mining just not to appear completely biased. Is the Alemao
family and Monserate family to be solely blamed for mining and real estate in
Goa as per NDTV claims? Degenerating standards of reporting.

[Goanet] Goa Diary (VM in Outlook India)

2012-02-26 Thread Goanet News Service

Goa Diary
Sussegad no more, once-sleepy Goa goes to the polls on March 3rd, while
the improbable candidature of a rangy Catholic priest promises to offer
an unconventional campaign trail.

VIVEK MENEZES

India’s smallest state—and by many measures, its richest—has undergone
five years of mega-development, shadowed seemingly inevitably by tawdry
mega-scandals that have demonstrated to include almost all of the
state’s political and economic elites.

Illegal mining has flourished uninterrupted as Chinese demand for iron
ore sent prices soaring over the past decade, spreading devastation far
beyond the 20% of Goa’s green cover already earmarked for the mineral
lobby. This has created a cadre of oligarchs whose writ increasingly
holds sway a la Bellary.

At the same time, brazenly illegal construction has hit the
once-spectacular coastline like a tsunami of concrete— Jairam Ramesh was
talking about more than 2000 egregious CRZ violations a full two years
ago. That number has surely doubled since.

All this reflects seemingly unstoppable economic growth, but the
rapidity and extent to which the state’s environment has suffered has
caused tremendous anguish, and increasingly widespread protest.

Goa—pristine as recently as a decade ago—now features in National
Geographic’s “10 worst beaches in the world” list. In July 2011, the
National Institute for Oceanography declared all of the water off the
coast of the state “unsafe for bathing and fishing” due to alarmingly
unhealthy concentrations of faecal coliform bacteria.

Feelings run particularly high about migration—the state population of
1.6 million is already poised at 50-50% between the natives and a
torrent of newcomers from around India. Increasingly, huge numbers of
foreigners are seeking respite from the economic doldrums that continue
to weigh down the economies of their home countries, and “downsizing” to
Goa. Now locals worry about demographic displacement, losing their
distinct culture and identity, becoming a minority in their own state.

Goa’s legislature is as contaminated as the beaches. In Konkani, its 40
representatives are most commonly referred to as Ali Baba’s thieves.
They are a motley assortment of village strongmen and satraps,
functioning together in a style that’s distinctly reminiscent of a
criminal syndicate.

Many have held their seats for decades, switching parties and
allegiances whenever expedient. Before the boom came, the government
changed every year, sometimes twice or thrice.

But the more recent trends worry Goans far more—there seems to be a
tacit understanding across the political divide, that everyone so
inclined can go ahead and loot and pillage while the going is good.

Thus, the incumbent coalition survived its entire term without serious
incident, and all quiescent parties have been rewarded with an
extraordinary bouquet of seats for cronies and family members.

This would seem to be an opportunity for the BJP, which led the
opposition. But that party’s slate doesn’t pass the smell-test either.
As in every single one of the other recent state elections, there seems
to be widespread political match-fixing going on to deliver up yet
another iteration of the current scenario, the same old scenario:
business as usual.

Such a depressing scenario isn’t a mere likelihood either—we are talking
about a sure bet. Everyone in the know in Goa will tell you the same
thing—business as usual is the guaranteed outcome, politics in the state
is 100% predictable.

But there is something new this year. That tired consensus came about
before the improbable candidature of Bismarque Dias, a rangy Catholic
priest who has cast off his official robes to run against Pandurang
Madkaikar. On the one hand, a veteran politician of the old guard who
has overseen huge real-estate development in Cumbharjua, a constituency
that encompasses the ancient capital of the colonial Estado da India and
a number of beautiful river islands. On the other, a seeming eccentric.

Full disclosure here: I have no doubt at all that Bismarque will lose,
and badly.

However, it is true that he does not think so, and his supporters don’t
think so, either. What is more, they are out on the campaign trail in an
unconventional but determined manner. For Outlook, I am going to trail
this unconventional campaign to see what it reveals about democracy in
India, circa 2012

[Goanet] Days' summary (02/26/2012)

2012-02-26 Thread John Collaco
R. Parrikar wrote Days' summary (02/26/2012)
2)
The other day I saw some commotion in Campal, and upon inquiry was
told
that the NDTV monkey Srinivasan Jain was in the area.  The first time
I
heard of this retard was in 2007 when he filed a 'report' on the RP 2011
brouhaha.
It was terrible.  Zero research, zero knowledge of the issue,
zero
everything.
Only spurts of random sound bytes interspersed by music that
Bappi
Lahiri was so bad at.  I was told then that he was a star reporter.
How
can anyone take these juvenile seriously?  They drop in a few days
before
the election, chat up a few fellows, ask silly questions of candidates.
The
rest of the time is spent drinking at Baga, perhaps.  That's the real
reason
they
are here - to have fun in Goa on company dime.

Indians
have yet to see what true (investigative) reporting is all about.
I
recommend a few segments of CBS's 60 Minutes or PBS's Frontline.
If
anything in India comes even within 10% of these shows, I'll take it.

Comment -R. Parrikar has a penchant to call every
other prominent journalist, columnist or TV anchor inefficient and
immature.  While Rajan has undoubtedly
contributed to Goa’s cause significantly, condescending attitude to other
professionals is immature and smug. Srinivasan is surely a journalist who is an
expert and knows his field. These reports, illegal mining and Goa - Democracy
for saledocumented as well as videoed in the following link
speaks enough of Srinivasan’s acumen as a journo.
http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/Goa-Land-Mine-Explodes-151808
http://www.ndtv.com/video/player/truth-vs-hype/truth-vs-hype-goa-democracy-for-sale/224810&cpWhat’s
monkey about Srinivasan and on the other
hand exceptional about Rajan? Is it just the RP 2011 report that ignited Rajan
or something else?

If chiristianity is indeed such a great religion of the world then what
made Voltaire say

“Christianity is the most ridiculous, the most absurd, and bloody religion
that has ever infected the world”
Any answers? Also I would like to understand the origin of the words
Animism/Fetishism et al.

It makes me feel that these originated in Church itself and probably it
reflects the attitude of Church towards eastern religions.

[Goanet] Regurgitating References

2012-02-26 Thread Gilbert Lawrence
Work has kept me rather busy and counts for my absence from Goanet.  Yet being
Sunday, I had some free-time and interest to review some writings about Goa.

I came across the following in a recent writing. While the author of the
article may be important, his identity for this discussion is not. Sufficient
to note that he is a Goan.  He is merely a messenger and a good example of what
ails much about this topic of "Regurgitating References" (my pet peeve)
especially as it refers to Goa. I have not checked the reference simply because
the facts quoted from the reference are incorrect and not worth wasting my
time. Inaccuracies are also not worth the time and print-space for serious
writers. To quote slipshod facts (irrespective of when, where and who wrote
them) is poor writing; unless the new author elect to use reckless facts /
quotes / references to support their own hit-or-miss rambling views.

To quote the recent (Feb, 2012) article: "Boise Penrose in his 'Sea Fights in
the East Indies in the years 1602-1639'. Penrose wrote ... the date of the
arrival of St. Francis Xavier in India marked the beginning of the decline of
the Portuguese power in the East."

The historical facts are:
Francis Xavier arrived in Goa on May 6, 1542 and left India in 1545. He died in
1552.
The period of 1550-1650 is widely labeled as Golden Goa; with both Goa and its
colonial masters at the peak of their economic, military and naval power.
Portuguese won a major battle against the combined forces of the Indian
Sultanates in 1570.

The beginning of the decline of the Portuguese in Goa is generally believed to
have started with the Dutch blockade of Goa (1636-1639) and the end of the
monopoly of Portuguese shipping lanes;  with also the presence of the English
and French navies which 'crowded' both the Indian Ocean as well as the
European commercial markets for spices.
The discovery of gold in Brazil led to greater Portuguese emphasis on South
America rather than Asia.

The time when Goan authors can quote foreigners regarding Goa and pretend to
be intelligent is over.  It may be likely; but not always, that a one-eyed
person is leading another; and both are trying to fool the Goans.
Regards, GL

[Goanet] Bondollam + Hypocrisy + BJP.

2012-02-26 Thread anil desai
Congress Election rally at Fatorda, Margao on 25th Feb 2012

Very interesting post from Joe GoaUk. My replies interspersed between all
the questions/comments from the original post.

?Bonddolam?
*Construction of bridges in 6 months?
Each pilar itself take 3 months for curing..*

If one pillar takes three months for curing, how many months does it take
for curing of several pillars? Howmany days does it take to build a road
over these pillars? Answers on a post card please.

*Rs.1 lac for a girl child when she is 18?
What guarantee is there the Govt. will rule 4 terms?*

To my knowledge a scheme named under the first chief minister of Goa,
Dayanand Bandodker was passed in the assembly by a BJP government. It is
still in operation while BJP is out of power. Now, even the Kangress
manifesto promises to increase the grant under that scheme from Rs 1000 to
Rs 2500 per month. It is therefore not necessary for the same government to
survive four terms. They can pass a law and subsequent governments might no
be able to reverse it for fear of public backlash

*Party with the difference??
What the 3 ministers watching on their mobile in the temple of Democracy in
Karnataka?*

Yes, they were caught and quite rightly suspended by the BJP immediately.
Can Joe Uk tell us what action has been taken against Digvijay Singh who
was caught on NDTV camera kicking a media person or the union minister who
was filmed by NDTV assaulting Samajwadi party workers in UP?

*
There was a question in ?kon Banega Crorepati?..
Heh Hindustan ka konsa ?National Party president ko rishvat letey huye
?Direct? pakdda gaya?*

It is true that the president of the BJP was caught on camera taking a
bribe. A despicable act to be denounced in the strongest possible terms.
Where is he today? Banished from the top echelons of the party. The
hypocrisy is that Sheila Dixit, indicted by Shunglu Commission for her
involvement in a scam worth crores has the gall to come to Goa and give
Goans a lecture on corruption by the BJP. The president of the Kangress
party, on the other hand, will never be caught on camera taking bribes. She
does not need bribes. She controlled a property empire in Delhi worth a
thousand crores in the 80s Ref: India today) thanks to the industry and
hard work of her family. Now, even her son in law is a 'self/ mother in
law' made billionaire. Why would she need to take bribes? Just a couple of
days back, Maharashtra times revealed that for two consecutive years, a
lawyer from Chennai has been asking her to produce Income tax returns but
apparently she can not do so for security reasons. This is hypocrisy.

When Kangress govt of Delhi was involved in a scam worth RS 8 crores in
CWG, when a Kangree government miniisters have been involbved in a2G
spectrun scam worth Rs. 176000 crores and Kangress government in Goa is
involved in mining scam worth Rs 25000 crores, all JGK can see is an
Ex-president of the BJP accepting some five lakh rupees. Hypocrisy indeed!

*Talking about mining?
Who gave upto five tickets to those who are into mining business?*

If they have been involved in illegal mining, they would be punished oncew
found guilty.

I cannot believe that a Goan would ask this question. Illegal and legal
mining has devastated Goa's environment during the last. Kangress CM and at
least one minister have been involved directly in such mining activities.
Is it not hypocritical that these facts should not even be mentioned. One
Kangress MLA, for example has amassed a wealth of over 20 crores in five
years on the back iron ore transportation.

Lastly, it would have been less hypocritical of JoeGoa Uk if he had posted
some photographs showing Goanetters all the buses, trucks and SUVs that had
specially come to Fatorda with Karnataka and Maharashtra registration
numbers specially to see Soniaji . Wonder what was the going rate per
person to attend!!

This is link to another scam that BJP govt minister was accused of by
Kangress.

http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/Coffin+scam:+Fernandes+seeks+Cong+apology/1/58206.html

Now will he tell us whay equation applies to his beloved Kangress?

Yes indeed.

All the khell-tiatre gig's had to put up the first act at the casa of
the Regidor.

Majorda had twothe later one was from a house or family/house
called "pakiem padre" (feathered priest- go figure eh?).not sure
how they acquired the nameapparently they were lawyers from some
generations.

The regidor from the house went by the name of Ermin and they
performed in his balcony..am told he never watched the
performances. Their house is towards the beech, along the path from
across from the Musson football groundpast Zuze-Caitan's posoro.

There were performers who came from the neighbouring village and one
waited with great anticipation for the sound of the 'dh-ol caxh',
which announced a performance (under the mango tree in the Musson
pit). One long forgotten character who taught some of the performers
(practice sessions are called 'essai') is Leopold.

Leopold Irmao lived just off the Musson..a victim of polio, he was
a violinist and a creative soul. He spent his life (after the death of
his mother) to drink and a few creative pursuits, including conducting
essai'z in his small balcao. He passed on, fairly young.his face
and his deep set sad eyes and his singing voice are ever-present in
the village.

One owes a lot to the khell-tiare in particular and life in the
Salcette villages in general. The love of the language, the land, the
appreciation of the way of life and the stories. Sadly, that is all
gone.at the Musson football ground bus-stop, one hears Indi mo
often thanand the sound of the wada-pau walli gong about her
business!

[Goanet] Bailancho Saad demands

2012-02-26 Thread Sabina Martins

(A Women’s Collective)

SF-4, Goa Housing Board res cum com Complex, Journalist
Colony, Porvorim, Goa

Tel:2410864
Email:saad_...@sancharnet.in

22nd Feb, 2012

Press Release

Bailancho Saad held a workshop to discuss violence against women . Women
coming from different parts of Goa belonging to self help groups, brought
to the fore the increased violence both in domestic as well as public
sphere and the breakdown of systems to address crimes against women.

The political parties came in for sharp criticism for ignoring the real
issues affecting women. Participants opined that whenever it has suited
the political class, they have raised the issue up to a point which
propelled their political agendas. Scarlet case, rapes and murdesr by
Mahanand, Nadias death, which screamed the headlines did not result in
efficient mechanism to prevent violence and put justice delivery systems
 in place.

‘*The major obstacles to women’s empowerment are violence both in the
family and society. If the violence is addressed, women will be able to
avail the opportunities of education and employment*” was the refrain at
the workshop.

Participants opined that politicians use women as vote banks, do not give
due representation in political parties and decision making bodies and do
little towards the rights and real empowerment of women. If they do
believe in empowerment of women then they should prove by working for and
meeting these demands.

Bailancho Saad has decided to carry out an awareness campaign to press
for demands as part of International Women’s Day program and also decided
to set up Taluka units to combat violence against women.

The awareness programs which incidently coincides with the run up to
Assembly elections will highlight and pursue the following list of demands
that have been ignored by the political class

· *Adequate resources and policies to strengthen the state systems
to stop violence*

The State’s systems meant to address violence like Women Police Stations,
State Commission for Women. Women Helpline, Family Counseling Centers have
become ineffective due to lack of resources.. All these bodies do not have
the requisite infrastructure like vehicles nor personnel to take action and
prevent violence.

· *Appointment of Protection officers exclusively to handle cases
of violence on priority.*

Under the Domestic Violence Act Protection officers have to be appointed.
No special officers are appointed and the Block Development officers are
made to do additional duties resulting in low priority to violence cases
delay and inefficiency.

· *No permissions to sell alcohol on government premises and no
subsidising alcohol companies from public money*

The women’s groups have time and again been demanding that no promotion
of alcohol and sale on government premises. Instead alcohol is pushed in
children parks, in theaters like INOX thus creating obstacles for women
and children from accessing public spaces meant for them.

· *Mandatory Detoxification centres and family counseling centres
in every Taluka*

While the government generates revenue on alcohol, there is no allocation
for detoxificatiion centres, family counseling centres to address
alcoholism. There is no commitment to address the problems of alcoholism
borne by women, children and senior citizens. Alcohol related violence in
the families have devastated families,

· *Removal of casinos floating in the Mandovi river and stopping
hotel located casinos in residential areas. *

The offshore casinos are still in the river making Panjim look like a
brothel in the evenings with the nefarious activities spilling on
land. The Casinos located in hotels operating in residential areas have
affected the local population leading to debt and destitution.

There is no regulatory body and the gambling mafia dominates.

· *Ban on casino gambling advertisement akin to alcohol and tobacco
advt ban.*

Illegal advertisement of casinos continues with police patronage. The
police department has availed money from casino companies to put up
signage resulting in little or no action against illegal activities of
casinos. These advertisements are illegal as no permission has been taken
from the Corporation of Panaji as required by law for any advt.

While gambling advertisement is explicitly banned, the casinos are
interpreting the amendment to gambling act as excluding themGambling is
addictive and a vice just like alcohol and tobacco. Hence there is a ban
on advertisement..

· *Enforcement of law banning matka and providing and gambling
de addiction centres*

Matka though illegal, flourishes openly with police and political
patronage. The vice has invaded homes with even housewives and children
being addicted to it

· *A functioning and responsive Anti trafficking cell *

Has BJP started creating grounds for covering up their defeat in this
election by claiming that it is Congress money which is doing the trick?
Are we to believe that BJP is spending less than Congress in bribing the
voter during this election? After the 1999 Lok Sabha polls it was the
tampering of voting machines that became the justification for its defeat.
If BJP is defeated it is only because of their arrogance and viscious

Good Bye Congress & Thank You for Nothing!!!
POSTED BY DR OSCAR REBELLO | 24 FEB '12 (Goanews.com )

The new fundamentals of the Goan economy. If 2007 was a horror story,
then 2012 onwards under Congress rule will be a catastrophe of
unbridled proportions.

I have this one question for Mr. Shantaram Naik, the face and voice of
the Congress-NCP campaign in Goa: “Why is it that a decent, honorable,
articulate, secular and relatively non-controversial person like you
never figures in the list as a Congress nominee for the Assembly
polls?” Clearly, loyalists have to do the dog work, whereas the
“winnable” candidates have to bring in the booty!! Classic Congress
cowboy stuff!

I think we need to stop pussy footing and molly coddling on this issue
any longer, this Election 2012. We need to set the record straight.

By and large the whole of Goa shares the ideology of the Cong – NCP.
An ideology propounded by Mahatma Gandhi and Nehru and Patel. An
ideology of pluralism, liberalism and genuine secularism (a respect
for all religions and not a divorce between state and religion). And
we will all continue to celebrate and propagate this ideology. As a
society! As a people! As a Generation! No sweat.

But we do not need these ruthless oligarchs masquerading as social
workers / lovers of Goa / Proponents of secularism to hold that flag
aloft for us.  This CONG – NCP alliance for Goa is like the Costa
Concordia! - a glittering dazzling, alluring ship that is going to
take all of us crashing into a rock. Goa in a ruinous heap. And of
course, true to form, the captains (MLAs) of the ship would desert it,
in a heartbeat and jump off board first as and when the crash happens.

It is a pathetic joke that the Congress manifesto of 2012 reads
exactly like the one in 2007. So it’s been five years of pulling wool
over  people’s eyes; Five years of cloak and dagger games; Five years
of devastating mining to disembowel the hinterlands; Five years of
spurious insertions in RP2021, Five years of Agitations; Litigations
and Frustrations; Five years of broken promises and knives in our
back; Five years of the putrid stench of corruption; Five years of
pandering to the real estate and mining lobbies; and Five years (This
is the cruelest joke) of daily prostrations before a cross, a masjid
or a temple!

Five years of pure unadulterated daylight murder of Goa!

So yes, you wrestle with your conscience; you wonder if you are
betraying your ideological position; you weigh the options of a
BJP/RSS entry if everyone deserts the mother lode Congress. You wonder
if the opposition parties who also have mining dynasties and real
estate sharks as candidates will do a better job!

BUT ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! This CONG-NCP in Goa has impaled us on a slow
fire for far too long. They have betrayed our trust beyond redemption.
The logic therefore is obvious. The CONG-NCP like a cockroach who has
survived billions of years, will always be around but Goa will most
certainly be dead, buried and entombed if these guys triumph again!

Because what is it that will change over the next five years? More
Build and dig and bribe!!! The new fundamentals of the Goan economy.
If 2007 was a horror story, then 2012 onwards under Congress rule will
be a catastrophe of unbridled proportions.

In the five years of its rule ministers have run amok; there has been
no prosecution when government agencies themselves have indicted
criminal officials; the drug barons have carved out their own
fiefdoms; there has been this strange logic among Congressmen: Protect
my constituency but Screw Goa!

So Goa will have to be reclaimed from the vice like grip of these
oligarchs. How? I don’t know and the solutions to do so may not be
perfect. There is the real danger of trishul wielding lunatics
crawling out of the wood work. The smaller parties may be gobbled up
by big brother Congress eventually and jettison all the gains; the
Greens may not break the glass ceiling. We all may be back to square
one!

But the me

[Goanet] QUOTABLE QUOTES

2012-02-26 Thread PAES

QUOTABLE QUOTES– By: Bennet Paes

1.  Discipline in India ended with the end of British rule. Goa was lucky
to have it 14 years longer, until Jawaharlal Nehru’s 80 thousand troops closed
the gap for ever.

2.  The Portuguese inquisition in Goa was a success by default. Only 30
percent of the population is Catholic, yet all of Goa looks like it is so.

3.  When you are in Rome, do as the Romans do. But, when you are in ‘Rome
of the East’, do as the Russians do.

4.  Centuries ago we too came here just as, those  we call ‘ghantis’ are
coming in now. Only we got converted to another culture. The ‘ghantis’ too
will, some day, soon.

5.  The place to earn guaranteed, loss-less (also lawless) 200% returns on
investment in just one term, is Goa’s Legislative Assembly. So head for it.

6.  The BJP is fielding 9 with criminal records. The Congress, as many but
with  lesser percentage points. Which one is better? Apparently the Congress,
provided that the pot is right in calling the kettle black.

7.  A disgruntled Goan laments: “These Politicians have such thick skin
that even an ox will be put to shame. No amount of four-letter words will
penetrate their hide, only four figure bribes, and in as many multiples as
their broken promises”.

8.  Goans scream so loud, they can be heard on the moon. But down here the
Politicians carry on looting regardless.

9.  And another Goan notes: “ We, Goans write volumes on fighting
corruption, only to prove that the pen is  mightier than paper tigers”.

10.  Bribe-givers are as inseparable from bribe-takers, as the sea is from the
shore. So sail along brother, elections will not change course.

11.  Gays want to marry, lesbians want to marry. It’s human rights, you stupid.
The dictionary calls it “HOMORRIAGE”.

[Goanet] Days' summary (02/26/2012)

2012-02-26 Thread Rajan P. Parrikar
To Goanet -

1) Yesterday I took the Konkan Railway to Bombay.  While waiting for my
train at the platform in Karmali, I struck a conversation with a Canadian
from Vancouver, who has been traveling all over India for almost two months.
The first thing he said to me when he came to know I was Goan is, "Goa is
not India.  It is s different."   Curious, I asked him why he thought so.
He said, "I love India and have read a lot about it.  I came here to explore
the
country.  But Jaipur, filthy.  Kolkota, filthy.  Delhi, filthy and depressing.
Chennai,
the filthiest of them all."

I quipped, "Oh, you don't seem to be impressed with 'Incredible India' then?"
and we had a jolly good laugh over it.  After we recovered, I added, "Give
Indians a little more time.  They're working on Goa, too."

He added that he spent 4 days in Goa in Panjim only (Fontainhas), which
he said he was very relaxing and an "escape from India."

2) The other day I saw some commotion in Campal, and upon inquiry was
told that the NDTV monkey Srinivasan Jain was in the area.  The first time
I heard of this retard was in 2007 when he filed a 'report' on the RP 2011
brouhaha.  It was terrible.  Zero research, zero knowledge of the issue, zero
everything.  Only spurts of random sound bytes interspersed by music that
Bappi Lahiri was so bad at.  I was told then that he was a star reporter.
How can anyone take these juveniles seriously?  They drop in a few days
before the election, chat up a few fellows, ask silly questions of candidates.
The rest of the time is spent drinking at Baga, perhaps.  That's the real reason
they are here - to have fun in Goa on company dime.

Indians have yet to see what true (investigative) reporting is all about.
I recommend a few segments of CBS's 60 Minutes or PBS's Frontline.
If anything in India comes even within 10% of these shows, I'll take it.

Extra:
I was hoping, like I hoped last time (two months ago) that she will say
something on Goa’s Special Status etc

It was the meeting start at 2 pm sharp and I am sure many people were here as
early as 1pm. There was no overhead cover or shade and the people made to stay
under the hot sun for upto 4 hours. Looks like they were give Congress logo
caps as well as newspapers to cover their heads as can be seen in the pictures.

Sonia arrived just before 4pm and departed just before 5pm (watch landind and
take off video)

Some tiatrist sang cantaram and in the end openely said 'Vote for Congress and
Hand' watch video. Singers were Connie M, Felcy, Xavier Gomes..

Folk dances such as Kunbhi dance and Dhangar dance also included in the video
in the first part.

Here are some pics
