India textbook says meat-eaters lie and commit sex crimes
16 November 2012

Meat-eaters "easily cheat, lie, forget promises and commit sex crimes",
according to a controversial school textbook available in India.

New Healthway, a book on hygiene and health aimed at 11 and 12 year-olds, is
printed by one of India's leading publishers.

Academics have urged the government to exercise greater control.

But the authorities say schools should monitor content as they are
responsible for the choice of textbooks.

"This is poisonous for children," Janaki Rajan of the Faculty of Education
at Jamia Millia University in Delhi told the BBC.

"The government has the power to take action, but they are washing their
hands of it," she said.

It is not known which Indian schools have bought the book for their
students, but correspondents say what is worrying is that such a book is
available to students.

JC, I had posted infra to GOANET a couple of days ack. P'haps the comptrlers
afeared a libel action from my partner, the said Pe. Joaquim Loyola. It never

To GOANET Lists, Goa Net Organization

Dear Ana Maria Fernandes,

Must be very interesting to be accountant to the priests (only of Goa?).
Does the accountancy extend all the way up to the Prelate?

And these various banksare they all in India only...or, do they
include those elusive ones in Switzerland...LinchtensteinCayman
Islands.perhaps even Banca Ambrosiano?

Please, dear Ana, share with us these titilating tid-bitsthey tend to
so light up our drab lives...

I would be particularly interested to know how many crores my friend,
Reverendissimo Padre Joaquim Loyola, has accumulated; you see he &
I have a patnership...a clear understanding, albeit without any duly signed
MOU, and are, supposed, to share equally all the commissions that accrue
from sales of church-lands, etc

The small change that, occasionaly, trickles into my chronically overdraft
account is so niggardly that I have begun suspecting the fellow of welshing
on me& that simply wont do...will it...can it?

Moreover, my grapewine, most alarmingly, informs me that my partner has
been seen, lately, to hobnob, rather more intimately than I stand to care for,
with that sleazy Shettye that our Aires so much warns us about!

Of course you will be generously compensated for your great service @ the
generous terms obtained from services rendered by the Bank of Africa, BOA,
at Burkina Fasosay 60-40 %. I could also deposit any moneys I stand to
benefit
through your sleuthing into the same bank...or, wherever

Yours, ever so thankful in confident anticipation,

Alfred de Tavares, aka the universal Chacha...always out to ensnare chamchas.

[Goanet] CHURCH & CLERGY WEALTH ETC & BUILDING OF HOME FOR RETIRED PRIESTS

2012-11-16 Thread manuel tavares
Ana Maria Fernandes is one of those who contribute faithfully to the wellbeing
of the church which is commendable. I agree with her that the Church in Goa has
amassed such immense wealth by virtue of families bequeathing their entire
properties to the church and the income derived from these properties also the
various donations received from the Diaspora throughout the world which in many
cases amounts to a considerable sum that it is a shame that they ask for
additional funds to build retirement home for retired priests. I think that an
audit of ALL the Churches should be conducted in order to establish what the
current state of affairs is and also to weed out dishonest priests ( Believe
you me there are many such crooks in the church who are known to have utilized
church funds to marry off their relatives etc) and make them accountable and
also establish the true wealth of the church. This should be an on going
process so as to ensure that there is no hanky panky going on.The Archbishop
should have a robust and incorrigible audit department to ensure the
accountability of all funds coming into church coffers. Let us see what this
will produce. Then if found wanting, the congregations can be asked to provide
funds for Homes for retired priests.

>Khaleej Times
>
>A final resting place for Indian expatriates in Sharjah and the Northern
>Emirates is scheduled to open in January 2013, the Minister for Overseas
>Indian Affairs, Vayalar Ravi, announced.
>The minister was speaking after visiting the construction site of the new
>multi-faith funeral centre off Sharjah Airport Road on Sunday. He also handed
>over Dh500,000 allotted to the facility from a community welfare fund for
>overseas Indians.
>
>The facility is designed to have four gas cremators for Hindus, Sikhs and
>Buddhists as well as burial grounds for Muslims and Christians, said YA Rahim,
>president of the Indian Association Sharjah (IAS), which is executing the over
>Dh5million project.
>He said IAS plans to open the facility with at least one cremator by mid
>January. “The compound wall for the Christian burial yard has already been
>made by the Public Works Department. The same for the Muslims will be done
>soon,” Rahim told Khaleej Times.
>
>“We are getting the first cremator valued at $29,000 from the US by next
>month. In future, we are planning to have at least three more cremators for
>the believers of the three religions,” he said.
>The Indian Consulate in Dubai records about 1,300 deaths of Indians in Dubai
>and the Northern Emirates every year. Though the exact figures are not
>available, a good number of deceased are either buried or cremated here.
>When it starts functioning, the funeral centre will not just be a final abode
>for the community members, but it will also be an example of the Sharjah
>government’s magnanimity and an expression of the Indian expatriates’
>contribution to their community.
>The land for the funeral centre spread in 8.3acres opposite the Sharjah Cement
>Factory in Al Sajja was donated by His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed
>Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member and the Ruler of Sharjah. The donation came
>after the need for a decent crematorium for the Indian expatriates arose.
>According to IAS officials, the need was felt after they witnessed the
>cremation of their founder president K Madhavan who died in an accident. His
>body was cremated in the manual cremation facility which is in a municipal
>dump yard.
>The Dh500,000 from the Indian Community Welfare Fund, a cheque which the
>minister handed over to IAS officials on Sunday, came after a proposal by the
>Indian Ambassador to the UAE, MK Lokesh.
>
>Following the proposal, the minister expanded the scope of the fund that is
>collected through a Dh10 fee from Indian expatriates which is collected when
>they avail each consular service.
>
>The Consul General of India in Dubai, Sanjay Verma also pitched in to pool
>contribution from members of the Indian community. On his recommendation, the
>Gurudwara Committee in Dubai offered Dh325, 000 to the funeral centre.
>The Indian Community Welfare Committee under the patronage of the Consulate
>contributed Dh100,000. The same amount was donated by hotelier SP Singh and
>EMKE Group Managing Director MA Yousuffali. The latter has promised to add
>Dh200,000 more from his side, said Rahim.
>“We are deeply grateful to Shaikh Sultan for his love, affection and
