[Goanet] 108 ambulance attitude

2012-12-01 Thread JoeGoaUk
108 ambulance attitude

Last night we observed this..
We found Ambulance staff  GA- ...2062 (Driver) behaviour very strange or
rude.
A young man (Pradeep) from Betim (Babatiles) Porvorim, met with an accident.
Another bike (driven by his colleague) knock him down.
Suffered injuries badly hurt his back and some injuries seen ‘ skin peeled off
with blood’.
He was transferred into the 108 on a stretcher, the doctor
(lady) gave him injection we are told (by the victim’s younger brother)
and said he will feel better in about 3 hours time.
Victim repeatedly pleading that he has terrible pain in this waist (bendant).
The 108 driver said ‘don’t make drama, come out (of 108),
we have only one 108 right now’
(nattkam korinaka, utt and bhair yo,..) The victim say ‘No..it really hurts..’
The driver ordered infront of the lady Paramedic to remove him from 108 and
lay him on one of the newly installed promenade benches opp. Iffi Hangar
or Reliance Webworld, Campal.
Police were also involved, there were discussions going on with 3 other
colleagues and the police (3). 4th police was in civil dress (came
later) who parked his bike on the promenade, Police jeep was also there.
Accident must have occurred around 9.50pm, we were there till around 10.30
or till a pvt car took the patient..we did advise them to take the victim
to the hospital for Xray etc as they were planning to take him home or one
of his colleague’s home.

The victim and his colleagues (hindi speaking) appeared
to be from migrant community

We also saw the 108 driver arguing with some one loudly
over the phone once he took the driver’s seat.
Police were also asking his colleagues to take him off
the site as soon as possible

I am also copying this to 108, just incase I get a reply..

Introduce English at later stage, says report on primary education

http://www.indianexpress.com/news/introduce-english-at-later-stage-says-repo
rt-on-primary-education/1030879?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_t
erm=sep_free&utm_content=textlink&utm_campaign=Mailer

Should English be introduced as a medium of instruction in Class
I? May be not, suggests a study on the teaching of English in government-run
primary schools. Reason being that teaching of English in most government
primary schools is no more than a teacher reading aloud from a textbook with
no effort to develop listening or speaking skills in children, familiarising
them with the rhythm and joy of poetry, contextualise grammar, or pay
attention to learning gaps.

Policy planners need to 'rethink' about introduction of English as a medium
of instruction from Class I, the study commissioned by the Union Human
Resource Development Ministry said.

English has been introduced at the primary level in 27 states, it is a
subject in Class I in 18 states, and the medium of instruction in Nagaland,
Jammu and Kashmir, and government model schools of Chandigarh and
Maharashtra. While the early introduction of the language is in response to
people's aspirations for quality education, experts opine that the language
must be introduced at a relatively later stage and the mother tongue must be
the medium of learning at primary level.

Conducted by the National Council of Educational Research & Training
(NCERT), the study says, "Teachers in all the states/UT have fallen into
what is called 'the textbook trap'. The teachers and students were entirely
dependent on the books."

Most teachers begin their lessons by reading from textbooks, finish lessons
abruptly, do not teach word/sentence patterns, resort to local languages and
offer no opportunity to children to listen to spoken English or speak in the
language. In classrooms, the participation of students in the learning
process was less in all states except Tamil Nadu.

At Level I - classes I and II - children only knew a few English words and
phrases, could not read, write or speak simple and short sentences in
English or narrate experiences, exchange ideas in the language even though
they could recite poems and songs.

The study, covering J&K, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Uttar
Pradesh and Union territory of Chandigarh notes the 'dismal picture'. It
recommends correctives, including training teachers to teach English as a
language, usage of multi-media for training to avoid transmission loss,
certificate programmes, focus on phonetics by teacher trainers and creative
usage of textbooks, among other things.

[Goanet] Why Rolly talks Funny ! And "True"

2012-12-01 Thread eric pinto
Abjads are scripts that have no vowels, but consonants only, usually around
22.  They are derived from the
Proto-Sinai Semitic that dates back to around 1500 BC, first found in todays
Syria.  The script
ushered a revolution in that the common person could now communicate with very
little learning.
Early cuneiform and glyphs called for scribes who trained for years.  This
Ugarithic gave way to the
Greek and Aramaic writing systems.  Greek evolved into Latin - Europe's
everyday script, and Cyrillic, whilst
Aramaic fathered India's Brahmi and Hebrew.
The Greeks were the first to introduce vowels, giving the world the first
"true" alphabet around 900 BC.
Brahmi is said to have developed around 300 BC.
To create a abugida for Canadian tribes in 1840, James Evans used Devnagiri
letters combined with
features of Pitman shorthand !  Bosco, a Flora Fountain Clare's grad did his
mission bit for Evans.
Yesterday's NY Times informs us that the Armenian
prosecutor, Kbilashvilli, a good friend of our Aires,
would prosecute the PM, Zhvania, for corruption: notice the missing "a" in both
names.  Harish is a common
Armenian name, invariably spelt Hrish, even in the US.
I plan on asking Cecil to lead a rescue mission to
Yerevan. eric.

Dear Mr. Tavares,

Sir,

Is it possible that I am being given credit for words which are not mine?

re#3: have WE heard of the following: kam zalem, voiz melo or (in Marathi)
Kama purta Mama? Have we forgotten that Bhau used the very same device over and
over again. Were the Mooshkiths the only ones who were 'made Moos' of?

re#5: when you find one such elected person, please let me know.

BTW: have you, of late, seen any notices of Art contests for children or
morchas for them or invitations to Sal_Azare from the Hacktivists?

Oh Oh . Table Tennis championships must be on.
