I do not wish to thrust the estimates made by the Government of India and Government of Gujarat on anyone. Simultaneously I presume that Santosh does not wish to thrust the estimates of the Human Rights Watch on anyone. But let us first look only to figures! The victims of the riots have been given financial assistance to try and reduce the impact on their families. The government figures are based on the number of people to whom this assistance has been given. If we are to accept the HRW figures, then obviously a large number (around 800) of families of the victims have not received the assistance. Should not organizations like HRW devote their boundless energies of taking up their cases with the government and ensure that at least some justice is done to them? I find the behavior of organizations like HRW to be very strange! Regarding Narendra Modis culpability. [Goanet] Vision document by BJP
VISION DOCUMENT BY BJP It is difficult and unfair to speculate before the vision document is made public. Is it wrong for any party to make image change over.? It is equally true that image make over is a long time goal and cannot be achieved so swiftly. Why the Congress is claiming special privilege as the saviour of minorities. Their 6 decades in power have not made a dent in the life of the minorities appreciably, as the emphasis is always at the doorstep of elections Can the BJP address its core issues and change their basic character like Gujarat riots of 2002, Building Ram Temple. anti conversions stand and demolition of Babri Masjid, uniform civil code repeal of art,370, The BJP have failed to appease the majority and now wants to woe the minorities to come to power No apology is being offered for the massacre of Muslims .The BJP is seriously concerned about the perceived image and aiming to correct this perception. It aims at empowering the minorities It has not given a single ticket to Muslims in Gujarat and boast of 35% of Muslim vote which has catapulted in power . Have the Muslims have been ordered into submission in Gujarat ?It makes a bone of contention of 250,Muslims in Zilla Parishad elections and 8 MLA`s winning in Goa with BJP support Rajnath Singh said in 2006 that minorities will end by 2016 is to be watched .That is the barometer of their secular credentials They pronounce that not a single riots has been registered in Gujarat since 2002, in comparison with Congress ruled state and specially in U.P., where the law and order problem has reached its lowest point They argue that Ram Mandir will be built only with consensus and under the direction of S.C. It accuses Congress of exploiting secularism to drum up support to win elections The problems that are faced by the majority Hindus are not different to those faced by the minorities, The aspirations should not be mocked and jeered, as it is rooted in the constitution. The past utterances of BJP regarding religious minorities do not inspire any confidence The tokenism of not wearing the cap is stretched to limits as a sign of deep rooted antagonism and hatred The Congress is tearing into the hypocrisy of BJP trying to empower the minorities through the so called vision document and make inroads into the secular turf, which was their forte The repeal of article 370 and uniform civil code will empower the minorities? People aren ot confused but amused at the gimmicks of the political parties to win their allegiance

[Goanet] Modi's Miracle deconstructed
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/home/opinion/edit-page/Modis-Himalayan-miracle/articleshow/20765218.cms Modi’s Himalayan miracle Abheek Barman | Jun 26, 2013, 12.00 AM IST On the evening of Friday, June 21, as India reeled from the shock of the calamity in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi landed up in Dehradun with a handful of officers. By Sunday, it was claimed that he had rescued 15,000 stranded Gujaratis from the wreckage of Uttarakhand and sent these grateful folks back home. This miracle was played up in media. But how was this feat achieved in a day or so, when India's entire military establishment has struggled to rescue around 40,000 people over 10 days? Reports say that Modi pulled off this coup with a fleet of 80 Innovas. How did these cars manage to reach places like Kedarnath, across roads that have been washed away, over landslides that have wrecked most access routes? But let us assume Modi's Innovas had wings as well as helicopter rotors. Including the driver, an Innova is designed to carry seven people. In a tough situation, assume you could pack nine passengers into each car. In that case, a convoy of 80 Innovas could ferry 720 people down the mountains to Dehradun at one go. To get 15,000 people down, the convoy would need to make 21 round trips. The distance between Dehradun and Kedarnath is 221 km. So 21 trips up and down would mean that each Innova would have to travel nearly 9,300 km. It takes longer to travel in the hills than in the plains. So, assuming an average speed of 40 km per hour, it would take 233 hours of driving to pull off the feat. This assumes non-stop driving, without a second's rest to identify the Gujaratis to be rescued and keeping the rest of the distressed folk at bay, or any time to load and unload the vehicles. And forget about any downtime for the gallant rescuers. That is nearly 10 days of miraculous work. And Modi pulled it off in a day. Actually, in less than a day: a breathless media reported that by Saturday, 25 luxury buses had brought a group of Gujaratis back to Delhi. For some reason, four Boeing aircraft also idled in some undisclosed place nearby. Modi, ever modest, himself did not make the claim of rescuing 15,000 Gujaratis from Himalayan disaster in a day. It was likely dumped on a gullible media by his public relations agency, an American outfit called Apco Worldwide. In 2007, Apco was hired, ostensibly to boost the Vibrant Gujarat summits, but to actually burnish Modi's image, for $25,000 a month. He is in good company. Apco has worked for the dictator of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbaev, the governments of Malaysia and Israel and the American tobacco lobby. For the latter, it set up front organisations to rubbish evidence which proved that tobacco causes cancer. Apco has also worked for pariah regimes like Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan and Nigerian strongman Sani Abacha. Its powerful advisory council includes former Israeli diplomats Itamar Rabinovich and Shimon Stein, as well as Doron Bergerbest-Eilon, who was the highest ranked officer in the Israel security agency. Apco is credited with Modi's makeover and his holographic campaigns. Before Apco, Vibrant Gujarat was a tame affair: the first three summits generated investment promi-ses between $14 billion and $150 billion. After Apco, in 2009 and 2011, these jumped to $253 billion and $450 billion. Apco worked tirelessly to rope in investor interest from America. It also lobbied with politicians in Washington to remove the ban on Modi travelling to the US. The ban was imposed after the massacre of Muslims in Gujarat as Modi presided over the state in 2002. So far, Apco hasn't succeeded in getting Modi a US visa. And the Vibrant Gujarat numbers are all hot air. An analysis by my colleague Kingshuk Nag in his biography of Modi shows that only 3.2% of the 2009 number has materialised on the ground. Of the 2011 figure, a mere 0.5% is for real. But Modi does not need Apco to lie. In 2005 he announced that state-owned company GSPC had made India's biggest gas discovery: 20 trillion cubic feet (tcf) valued at more than $50 billion, off Andhra Pradesh. This was 40% more than what Reliance had found in the same area. Modi then egged on GSPC to grab projects in Egypt, Yemen and Australia. Many suspected that Modi's gas claim was hot air, but in the absence of evidence few could say so. But by 2012, the Centre's directorate general of hydrocarbons (DGH), which analyses and certifies all energy finds, said that it could vouch for only a tenth of Modi's claim: there was only 2 tcf of gas. And that too in areas tough to exploit. Meanwhile, under Modi's rousing leadership, GSPC had poured in nearly $2 billion into exploration, much of it raised as debt based on its supposed 20 tcf gas find. When the gas vanished, GSPC went bust. To rescue it, Modi asked the company to venture out into more areas, like city gas distribution. There have been problems

Marshall Mendonca has laid out a superb case covering all salient points concerning Mr. Modi's involvement in the Gujarat Riots and his inaction in dealing with them in a states manly and amicable way. Marshall has detailed every relevant point exposing Mr. Modi's inactions and cover-ups in speedily dealing with efforts to stop the riots or his unwillingness to rise to the occasion which can only be perceived as his condoning these barbaric acts. Had the riots spilled out to other states, then India would have a National disaster on its hands. It is therefore with the feeling of true Nationalism that Goa and Goans should ensure that Mr. Modi and any such leaders who harbour Hindutav sentiments not be proposed or nominated or supported in any way to become a National leader. Such persons will only bring death and destruction to India and plunge it into chaos from which it may never recover. Religion has its place in human society but not when dealing with affairs of state, the rights of all the people of India are to be held sacred and be protected so that every Indian feels that his Government is for him or her and has his/her interest in mind being fair and just irrespective of Cast Creed, social status, or any other division which impedes the proper representation of everyone. Marshall please keep up the good work in educating us so that we are not hoodwinked by our state representatives who may use the opportunity to possibly catapult themselves into the limelight on the coattails of others. Mogadishu airport was also known as the Smithsonian Air Museum of Africa as the runway, yes just one, was lined with every model of aircraft from open air cockpits, to bi-winged, to Dakota's. Needless to say, none of them were in working order. The end of the runway was just 15 ft higher than the Indian Ocean. This meant that at those extra high tides, the sea water could be on the runway.Prior to one memorable take-off, the Soviet captain informed us that if there was a runway he was scared of, it was Mogadishu. Dabolim runway ends at a cliff with a 60 ft drop. I have fond memories of the beach below. http://www.flickr.com/photos/45002663@N00/sets/72157634350542932/ I am not sure if the news release was timed exactly right but I am sure that I do not want to, nor do I want any one else, to lie dead on the beach before this report is considered genuine. To answer your question though, rain, heat and wind is a good name for a rock band. Rain and heat are not good reasons to build a new airport. Wind is. Mervyn

I have no obligation to accept what U. G. Barad claims to be the official estimate. There are many "official" estimates, each one different from the other and from Barad's "official" estimate. I for one is using the estimate of Human Rights Watch given in the following quote from 2012: QUOTE Authorities in India’s Gujarat state are subverting justice, protecting perpetrators, and intimidating those promoting accountability 10 years after the anti-Muslim riots that killed nearly 2,000 people, Human Rights Watch said today. The state government has resisted Supreme Court orders to prosecute those responsible for the carnage and has failed to provide most survivors with compensation. UNQUOTE Please see: http://www.hrw.org/news/2012/02/24/india-decade-gujarat-justice-incomplete I have read articles on the SIT report. The SIT report provides plenty of evidence that Modi is culpable in the killing of 2000 innocent human beings by acts of commission and/or omission. Here are some quotes from the SIT report that indicate this fact. QUOTE As many as 32 allegations were probed into during this preliminary inquiry. These related to several acts of omission and commission by the state government and its functionaries, including the chief minister. A few of these alone were in fact substantiated." UNQOTE .SIT Report, Concluding statements QUOTE In spite of the fact that ghastly and violent attacks had taken place on Muslims at Gulberg Society and elsewhere, the reaction of the government was not the type that would have been expected by anyone. The chief minister had tried to water down the seriousness of the situation at Gulberg Society, Naroda Patiya and other places by saying that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. UNQUOTE .SIT Report, page 69 QUOTE The Gujarat government has reportedly destroyed the police wireless communication of the period pertaining to the riotsNo records, documentations or minutes of the crucial law and order meetings held by the government during the riots had been kept. UNQUOTE ..SIT Report, page 13 of Chairman's comments QUOTE It appears that the political affiliation of the advocates did weigh with the government for the appointment of public prosecutors.” (Page 77) The SIT chairman further comments that “it has been found that a few of the past appointees were in fact politically connected, either to the ruling party or organisations sympathetic to it.” UNQOTE .SIT Report, Page 10 of Chairman’s comments Among the 9 versions of a crucial episode that the SIT report has in it, here is one: QUOTE Pandya appeared and deposed before the tribunal on 13 May 2002, on condition of anonymity, that he had attended a meeting on 27 February 2002 night at the residence of Modi in which the latter had made it clear that there should be a backlash from the Hindus on the next day and the police should not come in their way. You would probably care to go to www.goasu-raj.org and these two docs are available to download. Cheers floriano goasuraj 9890470896 - Original Message - From: "Jim Fernandes" To: Sent: Wednesday, June 26, 2013 10:36 AM Subject: Re: [Goanet] Goans should oppose the MOPA land scam George, You are absolutely right about the horrible consequences the proposed airport at Mopa would have for Goa. In order to win this war against the new airport, we need to come up with a winning strategy. I am least likely to believe that we can win this fight by keeping a narrow focus - that is, by merely fighting against the construction of the new airport. I think we need to completely change our view and fight to introduce radical changes in Goan politics. For this to happen, we need to energize our Goan base. Here are some possible ways to attack the problem: 1. Create a completely new political party and field new young blood as candidates against the establishment. That basically means, either significantly pruning the influence or kicking out, both Congress and BJP from power in Goa. 2. To win assembly elections for these progressive candidates, we need to begin grassroots movement to engage and generate partnerships with - everybody from college students to adults on big issues at hand. 3. The candidates who would run for office under the new party, should have leadership qualities, be educated and have a pulse with Goan people. These candidates should represent all major religious and income groups in Goa. 4. Organize fund-raisers in Goa and across the globe to help fund this party. The party should maintain transparency in its dealings with its supporters via a website. Upon coming to power, this new party should immediately do the following: a. Implement term limits on the number of terms MLA's can serve in Goa's assembly. b. They should allow a max of 2 terms or a total of 10 years (whichever is lower) c. Scrap Mopa airport for good and work out a deal with the ministry of defense to relinquish control of Dabolim airport. d. Engage the central government on granting special status to Goa. e. Take over the ownership of mines - sign short term leases with mining houses and impose state royalty fees on ore exports. I am not sure if this is already in place. If it is, the royalty collections are poorly enforced. The funds raised thus, can be used for providing world class education to Goan children and to improve Goa's infra-structure - such as making Goa self sufficient in electric power generation capabilities and improve water supply and providing better roads. f. Make police force completely independent of Goa government. The position of Chief of Police in the state should be made into an office that is elected by its people. I believe the central government in India also deputes it's own officer as police chief - but these scumbags can be easily sidelined by having Goa's own independent chief and relegating the guy from the center to ceremonial chair. g. Similar to an elected Police Chief, we should have an elected Advocate General and all of Goa's prosecutors. Salaries of all such officers ought to be set by Goa's cabinet. h. Scrap most political appointments to various state owned enterprises so that the people get to elect officers of their choice. i. Introduce fair zoning laws and ban mega-projects in villages that destroy the demographics of such villages. g. Create rules to re-call MLA's while in office with a 25% signature campaign. This way, activities of MLA's are kept in check. If the MLA's end up becoming scumbags - simply recall them. I am sure the political manifesto can grow with many new ideas - but I am sure, you get the gist BTW, I am not trying to preach Goans in Goa on how they should go about their business. I see myself as one of them, even if it means I work outside of Goa. So let's get down to some serious talk followed by concrete actions. Jim Fernandes. (*undergraduate)* e M.A. A entrada é livre. Apareçam! Saudações muito amigas. Viva Goa! Viva a Lusofonia! -- Delfim Correia da Silva Leitor do Camões, I.P. & Responsável pelo CLP/Camões, I.P.- Goa Agva House, 9/32 Dr. Dada Vaidya Road Panaji 403 001 Goa - India 0091 832 6647737 0091 832 2422237
[Goanet] Fw: Goans should oppose Mopa
-Original Message- From: Edwin/Diana Pinto Sent: Wednesday, June 26, 2013 7:54 PM To: goanet@lists.goanet.org Subject: Re: Goanet Digest, Vol 8, Issue 406 BTW, I am not trying to preach Goans in Goa on how they should go about their business. I see myself as one of them, even if it means I work outside of Goa. So let's get down to some serious talk followed by concrete actions. Jim Fernandes. New York. Jim, For us of the tribe of Goans in the motherland, its always gratifying and encouraging to know that our people abroad cannot forget their roots here in Goa and are on the same level as the rest of their brethren here. I really, really hope that your vision is fulfilled. A regional party is something we desperately need to look after our local interests - a political party who is not under the thumb of some distant High Command. But my point is that you have to actually live in Goa and deal with it all to understand the ground realities. For us the main priority is to give the people a sense of empowerment because we have seen first hand that no matter who comes to power and however good he may be at the beginning, if the people do not exert their pressure against that of the powerful lobbies operating, then the people lose. So I actually feel that we cannot depend upon politicians and political parties but need to cultivate and nurture the strength within ourselves as a collective 'people's lobby'. When they are approached with community problems, they turn their noses up and tell us that they have been elected by the people so presumably that automatically gives them right of way..! This is even more so in the present liberalised economy, where massive projects are sought to be imposed wherever the opportunity arises without any consideration for the lives of the people of the place. Goa is small with very limited land holdings. There is hardly any developable land left here. But till we educate and empower the people, MONEY TALKS AND PEOPLE'S RIGHTS WALK Diana

On Jun 25, 2013, at 10:14 PM, Mervyn Lobo wrote: [ML 1] There is no reliable water or electricity and the govt does not function properly. Yet I do not see anyone in Goa demanding that their taxes be first used to provide the roads, water and electricity that are needed for basic living in the 21st century. JC1: Ah Mervyn! You really do not get it, perhaps never will. In any event, once the money (taxes) are paid (if they are paid), the funds can legally be used by the Gorrment for any purpose it deems fit. BTW: ever tried "demanding" in Goa? What would you suggest as your recommended Step 2 if the Gorrment does not heed your demand .and just says 'No Comment'? What has become of all the demands and protests about Anjediva? [ML 2]: The money for Mopa is coming from the private sector and from taxes collected in other parts of India. That money is better than manna from heaven. JC 2: So said the pimp to the young lady. 'Don't worry. All your funds will come from outside Goa'. 'You should focus on your future development'. Do you want to always live like this village girl? Come, join my team. I will make you rich. I will also benefit slightly. I will take only a minority (49.9%) of the earnings'. What are Mervyn and Tim advising the Girl to do? "Go for it gal" !? - Re this from me: ps: My gut feeling is that like Anjadiva, Dabolim will go and MOPA will happen. The forces of reason and sense will be overcome by the In-Vested interests who will be aided, albeit unwittingly by the Mervyns and Tims of this world AND the lines outside the Portuguese Consulate and at the Swindon Employment centers will get even longer, AND we will all be celebrating Hunky Dory every year. [ML 3]: You cannot blame anyone who lives or wants to live outside Goa for the activities that are going on in Goa. I have been reminded time and again by Goans living in Goa that they know what they are doing and I accept that fact. JC3: it is possible that reading my point (immediately supra) again might encourage us to understand it as Cause-Effect and NOT Effect-Cause. -- [ML4] : All I can do is point out that the economy of Goa is no where near its potential. Goa is not creating opportunities for Goans. JC 4: Neither will MOPA create real employment opportunitiesas far as GOANS are concerned. But then again, some Pimps have generated wealth for some 'professionals' in whom they have invested. There are shining examples like Zuari Agro, Ciba, META, and of course ...Dabolim! So you might be right. I am done with this. jc
[Goanet] Right to education
I read the article at: URL: http://www.ucanindia.in/news/education-law-violates-rights-church-officials/ 20969/daily It seems that the Christian churches want to be exempted from the provisions of the Right to Education act. The article says: The Catholic Bishops Conference of Indias want exempt all Minority institutions, government aided and non-aided, from the purview of the act saying it violates their rights. The ground that they are asking is: The Catholic school officials say their schools are doing much more than what the law requires, but being bound by the law violates rights guaranteed in the constitution to religious and linguistic minorities to establish and manage their own institutions. If the Catholic schools are already doing more than what the law requires, then why are they asking for the exemption? And are ALL Catholic schools in this position? The CBCI is also saying: They also said being bound by such a law makes them subject to harassment by officials. Would this harassment not be a problem for the non-minority institutions? In which case, surely CBCI should be working in this direction, so that no one is harassed. Best regards, U. G. Barad
Re: [Goanet] Goans should oppose the MOPA land scam
Goans should oppose Mopa airport Mervyn Lobo wrote : The argument I just do not get is when someone informs me that, "My dad was a rice farmer. My grandfather was a rice farmer, I am one too and so will be my son." I consider farming an occupation on par with fishing and hunting. It is an occupation that led to prosperous lives in the past. Today, farmers face bankruptcy nearly every year due to vulgarities in the weather, high prices for inputs and low prices for produce. There is no economy in the 21st century that is becoming prosperous because if its farming activities. But should they not be allowed the choice of lifestyle in a democracy? The Mopa people are traditional farmers and Dhangars or shepherds. THey do not want to give up their traditional occupation and way of life. "Prosperity" is a state of the mind. We see many millionaires and billionaires who never think they are prosperous enough, but spend their lives trying to grab more and more even at the cost of other people's wellbeing. The Mopa farmers and shepherds are extremely happy with their lifestyle and source of income and do not wish to be forced into another way of life. Neither are they demanding that any of us or the state subsidise their lives and livelihood. A thought for you - What do we eat when the last farmer, hunter or fisherman gives up because of a system that we are imposing on the world? Mervyn Lobo also wrote : We are on the same page here. There is no reliable water or electricity and the govt does not function properly. Yet I do not see anyone in Goa demanding that their taxes be first used to provide the roads, water and electricity that are needed for basic living in the 21st century. The money for Mopa is coming from the private sector and from taxes collected in other parts of India. That money is better than manna from heaven.? How do you know the people of Goa are not demanding that their taxes be first used to provide the basic infrastructure needed? The problem here is the unhealthy and avaricious model of development that is sought to be imposed upon the state. It looks only at GDP as the bottomline and loses sight of all other dimensions of human life and development. And this PPP is just another whitewash for one of the many land scams that Goa is reeling under. 81 lakhs sq. metres of land have been acquired and very little of this will actually go into the airport itself. Most of it is to be given to private parties for entertainment hubs, casinos, hotels, skating rinks etc. etc. You have to really live in Goa and study and analyse what the government and their cronies are actually pulling off through these projects. We had to kick out SEZs. Everything done illegally. One thing said to the people and another thing actually happening on ground. A very strong nexus between the lobbies and governments. Shouldn't the government explain to the people why Mopa is so important instead of just deafening silence? Especially when the people have made their case using concrete facts and figures? This is a democracy and not someone's private fiefdom to do with the community's land as they see fit without even trying to carry the people along. The people have even asked the Chief Minister for a public debate on Mopa.
[Goanet] Goans should oppose the MOPA land scam
Pro bharati chaps do not understand that Goa is for scraping. If Goa is not developed for the past 50 years do you think (the reader) those bhayyas in new delhi will do anything for Goa for the next half century? BC
[Goanet] Goa Bouncers Abhiyan (GBA)
When Goans opt for parivartan and Bouncers become ministers what can we expect? Goa Bacaho Abhiyan now becomes Goa Bouncers Abhiyan. Goa has a flourishing parivartan economy of miners, builders, gamblers, looters, molestors, rapers, beef haters, bouncers, liars, . After Na Mo from Gujarat it is PA(rrikar) PA (rivartan) from Goa. -soter
[Goanet] Parikar and an unprofessional Shekar Gupta
Marshall Mendonza writes: "Going by your response, anyone not found guilty by the Courts is deemed 'innocent'. Technically this is the correct legal position. However we live in a world which is governed not merely by legal technicalities but also by moral, ethical, social and cultural values." Now can we apply these criteria in case of the anti-Sikh riots of 1984? Best regards, U. G. Barad.
[Goanet] Politics & Politricks of Relief Work!
Congress, the initiators of politics of relief, received a lot of flak after pictures of a flag off of their relief supplies hit the media and social media websites. The initiator of politics of relief and congress spokesperson Manish Tewari, hit out at Modi's visit to flood-affected areas saying, 'Now, in all this, if somebody wants to become a Rambo and claims he alone, in a span of two days during a trip of disaster tourism, brought out 15,000 people, I am afraid, for the lack of a better word, it just reflects rank opportunism and sheer desperation to try and politicize and even milk a tragedy for political reasons.' And from here on the politics of relief started! Amid criticism over the response of the Congress government in Uttarakhand to the devastation in the state, party president Sonia Gandhi, after the arrival of her son - party vice-president Rahul Gandhi, on Monday flagged off relief supplies from the national capital. Rahul Gandhi flew into Uttarakhand on Monday despite Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde issuing instruction that 'VVIPs flying into the state can disturb rescue operations.' On the very next day when Rahul flew into Uttarakhand, Shinde said that 'aerial surveys of the state are not problematic!' The initiator of Politrick and congress spokesperson Renuka Choudhary said, "Rahul Gandhi is not going there as a VVIP. HE IS GOING THERE AS A CITIZEN, AS THE VICE-PRESIDENT OF CONGRESS TO OVERSEE THAT THE RELIEF MATERIALS REACH IN PLACE. Rahul did not say 'I am a Rambo and I did this and I did that'." Renuka Choudhary continued her argument saying, '"You do not know what he (Rahul) is doing. What do you want? We should be telling you when does he have his HAIR CUT and such things? Everybody is not like that to publicize all petty things." (http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/rahul-gandhi-is-in-uttarakhand-as-a-citiz en-not-rambo-says-congress-383868) Renuka Choudhary's cover-up clearly suggest: 1) In matters of overseeing whether relief materials reach the place or not congress party trust no other person than Rahul Gandhi! 2) Only CITIZEN (with Z plus security!) and only vice-president of congress party, not any other VVIP's, can fly into the area even if it causes disturbance in rescue operations! Now Indians will have to wait and watch as to whom congress party trust in matters of actual distribution of relief material!! Jai Bharat Nirman

[Goanet] video Parrikar, Lorna etc (Xasticars are most lovable, say Parrikar)
‘Akhea Goyant, Xastikar chodd mogall’ Says Chief Minister As CM Parrikar was leaving the venue he stopped to watch Lorna singing and he stood there throughout the song (amongst the audience). Then he took the stage (unplanned) and spoke about 2 minutes. - He said (jokingly) Lorna’s popularity made him jealous of her. - Amongst the Goans, ‘Xasticars’ are the most lovable /friendly people contrary to what he thought through some media feedback - Some are dreaming of becoming MLAs in 6 months but the present ones with be back here on Stage for next four years. The same lovable people when angry sent them (dreamers) home along with their family. (No prize to guess who he was talking about) - Next year you can expect the Sao Joao Celebrations here even bigger than this. Includes in the Clip: Lorna singing, dancing with ‘Judev’ as it was held on 23rd June. My apologies for the poor song Audio, looks like some rain water sipped inside my camera microphones :-) It also, ruined Francis de Tuem song at Siolim next day. The Clip - Parrikar, Lorna http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0laiVImLbU JoeGoaUk ads: Although, the event was organised in a big way, it could not attract that many people. Half of gathered there could be on complimentary passes and the volunteers. Entry was Rs.200 per head (inclusive of a couple worth Rs.200). Coupon can be used to buy hot and soft drinks e.g. whisky, rum, beer, water etc (Beer half bot Rs.50, Water bottles (2) for Rs.50 etc (see pic). When it comes to eating, there was not a single item to eat which would cost Rs.200 or less. We went to the counter, Can we have something to eat worth these coupons? ‘No, but each one of you will have to pay Rs.100 extra to join buffet table’ (buffet worth Rs.300 per head). What do we do with the coupons now? Two of us bought one pint of beer each and another bought 2 bottles of water. Remaining coupons we gave to the members of the brass band and told them to have beer in the true spirit of Sao Joao. The event must have cost a fortune including the Bands, bouncers, singers, the food etc Hope the organisers do it better next time The coupon counter http://www.flickr.com/photos/joegoauk73/9121214625/sizes/l/ More of Sao Joao in the South - updated http://joegoauk.blogspot.in/2013/06/sao-joao-2013-velsao-arossim-benaulim.html joego...@yahoo.co.uk for Goa & NRI related info... http://in.groups.yahoo.com/group/GOAN-NRI/ For Goan Video Clips http://youtube.com/joeukgoa In Goa, Dial 1 0 8 For Hospital, Police, Fire etc
