Re: [Goanet] A Time To Mourn??

2019-03-11 Thread Eddie

Roland, let the white Canadians mourn the loss of the Churches.

Why should you be concerned? The Catholic Church is not really ours, it is
European in liturgy, doctrine and issues highlighted.

- Brown/Black clerics had to follow Vat commands in every respect, down to
the silly vestments they had to wear and the communion wafer served. (No
chapatti wafer allowed.) Some of our priests (esp the chocolate skinned
ones) did look clownish wearing those heavy, ornate robes in the tropical
heat.
- Did the Euro Church ever raise its voice against the horrors of
colonialism, forced conversions, the forced removal of brown/black children
from their parents in the Canada, Australia & Pacific Islands into white
managed boarding schools in order to Europeanise them?
- There was blatant racial discrimination over seating in the 'houses of
God' in India, Africa, etc the whites being given the front seats (often
with reserved names).
- In the UK, blacks (converted by white missionaries in the Caribbean) were
not welcomed in the existing churches and went on to set up their own
churches
- No native bishop of an Asian or African country was appointed until it was
independent, so that control didn't pass to non-white clerics while whites
were present.
- No pope wrote firmly against the horrific abuses to which Euro colonizers
subjected natives, whereas there were papal encyclicals expressed concern
about the welfare of Euro migrants to North America.
- Popes in the 1940s were alarmed at the rise of Communism, a purely Euro
phenomenon, and Pope Pius XII prescribed special prayers everywhere
(including India) to be recited after Mass for the conversion of Russia !
- No colonial governments were ever censured for their grab & settlement on
the best land & banishment of natives into inhospitable reserves in the
Americas & South Africa.

One can go on.
Good riddance of the Euro-controlled church, I say. What a pity that
Indians or Asians still hang on to the Vat establishment and haven't been
able to band together and set up a more authentic church of their own.

Subject: [Goanet] A Time To Mourn

It’s a social and cultural marker when 9,000 churches are forecasted to
close both in rural and urban areas of Canada in the next 10 years.

Whether you believe in God or not, the Church has been an important part of
any growing-up Catholic experience and a meeting place to pray and commune.

What will or can replace its functions that go beyond its primary purpose of
prayer.

[Goanet] VIP CULTURE

2019-03-11 Thread John Eric Gomes
PRIME MINISTER ON VIP CULTURE
Addressing the CSIF personnel in Ghaziabad, the PM hit out at the abuse of VIP
culture: "The VIP culture is at times the biggest threat to security". He
admitted that they throw their weight around, get angry at security checks, and
humiliate and threaten security personnel merely doing their job. He called
upon VIPs to be disciplined and cooperate with the security personnel. Around
four years back, the Lal Batti on vehicles was banned, but not what goes with
it! The VIP culture till date is thriving. In addition to arrogance and acting
like Maharajas , this is a class repugnant to democracy and demeans the
citizen, not to mention a complete waste of the nations resources and finances.
The courts have had to issue orders to get them to vacate illegally occupied
bungalows! The PM must follow up his admonition to VIPs,Gau Rakshas, loud mouth
politicians and the like by strict action! Tolerating what he condemns, he
loses credibility. Who will teach them the discipline he is talking
about?Strange he has not yet seen fit to eliminated this "biggest threat to
security" and banned the VIP syndrome long after the external symbols of red
beacon were banned!

[Goanet] End of the Ethnic Goan

2019-03-11 Thread Lionel Messias
Pl read my series “End of the Ethnic Goan” in www.goanspirit.com and more.

“In bigger towns too like Vasco, Margao, Panjim, except (mercifully) in the
odd old quarter of town where landholdings are just too tiny to interest
greedy developers. Non-Goan builders even hire non-Goan architects which as
a cascading effect. The old Goan way of life is fast deteriorating any way
you look at it. It’s getting dangerous too as crime grows at a disturbingly
fast pace. This is how middle-class Goans, who have been reduced to
becoming only armchair critics, see it. To whine about ‘the good old past’
and to do nothing about it, are in equal parts, new-age Goan folklore, if
that makes sense.”

[Goanet] GOA GOVERNMENT AND GOVERNANCE HAS GONE FOR A TOSS

2019-03-11 Thread Aires Rodrigues
The cabinet should approve only routine matters by circulation and all
other issues should be decided after a detailed discussion. But last week
as the cabinet meeting was cancelled major decisions were given consent by
circulation by a now comatose cabinet. One of those decisions was doling
out yet another six month extension to those Casinos polluting the River
Mandovi.

With the tacit support of Manohar Parrikar the social menace of Casinos is
escalating by the day. And with political blessings they are operating
unmonitored and unregulated with even the required Gaming Commissioner not
in place.

While as the Leader of the Opposition Manohar Parrikar had vociferously
branded Casinos as a “social evil” and had called them "dens of vice".
While spearheading that agitation against Casinos, Manohar Parrikar had
vowed to make sure that all Casinos were thrown out of Goa if the BJP came
to power. But in a dramatic U turn in March 2012 after coming to power, the
BJP has gone all out to promote, shield and increase the number of Casinos.

Manohar Parrikar as the Chief Minister while branding the revenue from
Casinos as “bad” money had declared in the Goa Legislative Assembly that
the revenue from Casinos would be kept in a separate account and utilized
only on homes for the aged and those suffering from Alzheimer's. On that
revenue earned by the government from Casinos, Manohar Parrikar had firmly
stated "We don't want to use that money to buy computers for students. We
don’t need that money in the budget”.

Addressing the Goa Legislative Assembly on 7th August 2012, the then Chief
Minister Manohar Parrikar had also categorically and confidently stated
that he did not require the revenue from Casinos for Goa’s developmental
works. On 10th October 2013 Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had assured the
Goa Legislative Assembly that all the Casinos would be definitely removed
out of the River Mandovi by September 2015.

Ironically the RSS which sets and gears the agenda for the BJP is known to
be against gambling but their now silence on Casinos is deafening. The BJP
has fallen in passionate love with the Casino brigade who are now getting
the government’s abundant patronage and overwhelming support. For the
dismal number of jobs created for Goans by Casinos, the overall damage that
is being inflicted to the State is irreversible. While the BJP is feasting
and making merry with the abundant moolah flowing from the Casinos, Goa has
sadly become the country’s gambling hub with the allied vices of
Prostitution and the Narcotics trade also flourishing by the day while the
Crime rate is on a steep rise. So, for Goa to remain afloat the Casinos
must sink along with the BJP. And faster it happens it would be better for
Goa and Goans.
