CASINO VESSEL SIZE IS IMMATERIAL

Stephen Dias Dona Paula
9422443110

Todays news report in certain section of press carried the news that the
Congress is objecting to a bigger vessel than that already anchored in the
Mandovi River.

My reminder to both, those who are shouting against this entry, and more
importantly those who are damning Goa, is that we do not want or need
casino vessels in the Mandovi, irrespective of their size? Tomorrow this
government may feel that existing casinos can be given an extension except
for the bigger vessel and put this forth as a compromise.

2019-07-22 Thread Joel Moraes

God save our souls!
A mother’s womb is a sacred place for each one of us. We alllived in her sacred
womb and she took good care of us all with deep pain andsuffering for nine long
months prior seeing the light of this beautifulcreation of the creator called
Earth. The earth should be the most sacred placein the life of every human
being where we begin and end our journey called life. We all are very well
aware that weare here to go. So why most our us turn out to be selfish and
greedy throughoutour life. It’s a very simple truth that we all depend on this
planet and it’snot the other way round but sadly we have destroyed enough of
this beautifulplanet in spite of knowing that we all will leave this planet
with nothing one day, some day. The way we, the human power act, it looks like,
we the human race isthe sole owner of this earth when there are so many other
species having equalrights as humans. We even went to such an extent to destroy
their habitat andwhen they started to enter our boundaries, we thought of
officially declaring themas Vermin. We even went to the extent of allowing
mafias to pollute our clean/freshair and water, in the name of
industrialization thus proving the true qualitiesof us, humans.

Does well known liars ever spoke truth and stuck to their word?Once termed
dallals turned out to be theirsaviors and our politicians speak about so called
word. They lie, cheat, ruin, loot and when they die, we build theirsamadhis and
fire few gun shots inthe air as a mark of respect for all their wrong doings
throughout their life? Some of them speak about feeling at home when they jump
from one politicalparty to another for personal political gains. Were they
staying in gutters allthese past years of their respective lives? Politicians
like Jack Sequeira andcompany of those days saved Goa from merger with
Maharashtra being in oppositionwhen the ruling headed by Bandodkar was all out
for merger and our ten formerCongress MLA’s says they merged themselves into
BJP for the overall developmentof their respective constituencies. What exactly
development means? Filling ofGoa’s fertile land, razing of beautiful green
hills, destruction of Goa’s thickforest, allowing cutting of thousands of
coconut trees to make way for a Beerfactory when Goa had enough beer, selling
of Goa’s rivers to the centre and nowselling of Goa’s coastline  to the
mafias,etc.?

The people in power even tried to kill their own people byallowing application
of formalin to the fish imported from other states whenGoa has enough fish for
its own consumption. The  incompetentFDA director even went to the extent of
saying  the presence of Formalin  in the fish is within permissible limits thus
tryingto support  the Formalin fish mafia.People of Vasco been forced to
breathe air polluted with coal dust. Coal dustdeposits been witnessed in their
houses and our politicians speaks about development.People staying around the
surroundings of Sonsddogarbage dump in Salcette were forced to breathe
poisonous fumes and gasesdue to the recent burning of the garbage dump and
nobody really cares. For agespeople in power has been trying to find a solution
for Sonsddo garbage dump but sadly we the people been voting for thesame
garbage since ages so garbage in Goa always progressed and will progress. We
destroyed the natural smartness of our Goa and now we are planning smartcities.
Lord have mercy on us all.God save our souls.

[Goanet] letter

2019-07-22 Thread Joao Barros-Pereira
WANTED : MLA ALINA SALDANHA!

With the voices against the Regional Plan growing more hysterical and
piercing as the trust in the government plummets resembling the
movement of a bungee jumper there is a vacuum waiting to be filled
urgently.

Enter MLA Alina Saldanha a politician whose honesty is unquestionable!

Goans need an MLA who is capable (that is what the late Cm Monohar
Parrikar called her) sincere, and honest.

In the Goa of now, this is a tall order. The public will no doubt go
for the idea but will the government agree to it? We need a politician
who is capable of steering the Goan ship to safety.

As a child I read a story where God promised to spare a city if there
were ten honest men.

Among Goa's politicians on all levels it is debatable if there exists
an uncorrupted man but there is for sure one woman politician who
cannot b corrupted! And, it is MLA Alina Saldanha.

When the supply is low the price is high, and in this case the public
is getting a good deal as she is capable and honest. Will she stand a
chance? Let's wait and see!

Two crores were paid to the incompetent agency in Cheney who made a
mess of everything.

Who is responsible for giving the company the contract? Never was so
much paid for work which can only be described as a fiasco.

Dishonest, insincerity, and betrayal today in Goa is as normal as
breathing in and breathing out. But, then, it is not natural as
breathing in and breathing out, so when will the breathe of life cease
to be?

[Goanet] GOA CANNOT CONTINUE AS A GARBAGE RIDDEN STATE

2019-07-22 Thread Aires Rodrigues
Over the years successive governments have miserably abdicated in their
bounden duty to address the issue of garbage disposal. Now people have been
dumping their waste all over even throwing it brazenly in our rivers and
lakes. The gravity of the situation has been highlighted by our High Court
which has necessitated the creation of the Ministry for Waste Management
which is headed by Calangute MLA Michael Lobo.

The flow of high-end tourists into Goa has been adversely affected on
account of our towns, villages and even the beaches being inundated with
garbage all over. Over the last few years the Tourism department has spent
crores on so called beach cleaning but what has been done is only emptying
of the State coffers. Even the Lokayukta after a detailed investigation
has found that the beach cleaning contract given by the Tourism Department
was a fraud. The Tourism department also does not have the mechanism and
expertise to ensure the cleanliness of the Goan beaches. As we now have a
Waste Management Corporation,it is imperative that all garbage related
issues including the cleaning of our messy beaches must come within the
ambit and control of this Corporation.

Goa also needs three or four more garbage disposal plants to ensure proper
handling of garbage across the State. There have been problems at the
Saligao garbage treatment plant as it was overloaded beyond its capacity
and this cannot be allowed. The Government had acquired land at Bainguinim
for the setting up of a garbage treatment plant and it did not materialise
as there was objection from the public. I myself was once strongly opposed
to it, but now the setting up of that plant is the need of the hour and
inevitable before the garbage issue further escalates beyond redemption.

Effective Garbage Disposal needs a complete and total solution looking at
every aspect, including the type of Garbage, collection of Garbage and the
Disposal and re-cycling of Garbage not just tinkering at the edges or on
cosmetic changes like bogus beach cleaning. Conventional and Modern methods
of Garbage Collection and Disposal must be studied and employed.
Furthermore, it needs a program of education with clearly laid down
procedures for the people. There must also be effective honest policing of
the guidelines coupled with punitive action for persistent wrongdoers. All
this necessitates a sizeable investment from Government which must be fully
utilized for the purpose intended and an investment worth making.

Goa has seen reckless construction all over. A vivid example is the water
parched Kadamba Plateau which has seen unplanned development with thousands
of flats having mushroomed without the basic infrastructure in place.

In view of the chaotic state of affairs all over the state, there is need
for the High Court to impose a total embargo of at least five years on any
further construction until we have the basic amenities of water, power
supply, sewerage, good roads and more importantly a robust garbage disposal
system in place. This may bring some sanity to our now devastated Goa.
