[Goanet] TRADITIONS, RITUSLS, CUSTOMS ON HOLD

 Customs traditions, rituals on hold
Our normal life is so steeped in following customs traditions and
rituals, one feels helpless at loss at missing them .Voluntarily doing away
is a tough choice, deviating from society's control. Those who dare to
defy have the guts to stand the disapproval and being ridiculed. Covid
pandemic has turned our rituals ,customs ,and traditions on its head . It
is fear and anxiety due to which abandoning of this parcel of our life is
the unquestioned new normal and does not raise any eyebrows
The must do religious rituals obligations, sacraments, and those
connected with weddings, funerals, feasts, baptisms first holy communion
and other services are on hold .Today these rituals ,customs are limited
, reserved to mere family participations and private . Engaments .Such
quiet affairs would lead to tongues wagging in normal times. There is no
guilt complex either to adhere to societal norms. The formal visits to
friends on happy or sorrowful occasions are strict no for concerns of
either. THE GRAND CELEBRATIONS of birthday parties, anniversaries
weddings have to adhere to social distancing. Visits to restaurants,
bars, travel by any public means picnics dances are a safety concerns
Students at all levels are on a long holiday as schools ,colleges.
Institutions have closed shop due to risks involved to most vulnerable .
Goods and establishments are at a loss due to lack of customers movements
and resistance due to economic factors . Industries are under a lockdown
and hence employment has dipped . The Govt too is feeling the heat to
maintain essential services, disbursement due to sharp decline in revenues

Ii is noticed that there is tremendous increase in all commodities,
services whether of daily use or essentials .But none is complaining
about the burden of soaring prices not that any is ready and willing to
hear the grievances .To say each one is for himself, selfish to the core
is the order of the day. There was a streak of silver lining when people
went out of their way to help the migrants and weaker sections and nake a
difference to their woes and sufferings
People are faced with the most unexpected ever in their living memory and
are shocked and surprised, how the life is unfolding at present times of
pandemic
Humans with all their might and progress are s uddenly on the back foot
unable to cope to meet the emergencies . As we are slowly adjusting to
realities the hope of vaccine is the greatest expectations of our
survival . In the past vaccine has taken 15 to 25 years but today it is
being fast tracked within two years and there are many alternatives in the
pipe line
To throw away traditions customs, rituals to the wind is to make life dull
and meaningless, but there was time when such behaviours were absolutely
must strictly observed with minutest details with mortal fear and guilt of
adverse consequences .We know now that we had conditions ourselves to

[Goanet] GOA GOVERNMENT HAS MISERABLY FAILED INDEALING WITH THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

2020-08-24 Thread Aires Rodrigues
With the COVID-19 cases mounting by the day, the Goa Government has yet not
got its act together in dealing with the raging pandemic. The politicians
should have laid their hands off and left it to the experts to chart the
road ahead.

There are increasing complaints about lack of proper facilities and the
pathetic state of the Covid hospitals and care centers. Every COVID patient
needs to be getting the best possible care and attention. The poorest of
the poor is entitled to get all the due medical assistance even it has to
be at the private hospitals. Free and specialized treatment cannot be the
privilege of just the politicians and that too at tax-payers expense. That
the authorities failed to plan a proper strategy over the last few months
and are now running helter-skelter with no vision is condemnable.

Chief Minister and the Health Minister should be in the frontline while
dealing with the pandemic which has now sadly reached a point of crisis. As
‘Bhivpachim Kainch Goroj Na’, they should themselves regularly visit the
COVID hospitals and care centers to see for themselves the sordid plight of
the patients. They need to talk less and prove their mettle by action on
the ground.

If Pramod Sawant and Vishwajit Rane are incapable of leading from the front
they should gracefully step aside and make room for someone more sensitive,
competent and dedicated to take over.

The abundant funds earmarked for dealing with COVID-19 must be judiciously
and scrupulously utilized to ensure that every patient gets the due medical
care. There should be no room or devious attempt to pocket this money. It
would be an unpardonable crime.

[Goanet] WHERE DO OUR PRIORITIES LIE?

2020-08-24 Thread John Eric Gomes
DO WE NEED THIS?
The question is do we need to copy rich arrogant nations and more so can we
afford or do without them! We have our netas now flying around in air force or
chartered flights when necessary. With good communication and IT network, other
than ego requirements, why waste funds and manpower to maintain special wide
bodied aircraft specially for President and CM custom made with big cabins,
mini hospital, conference room and ECM measures reportedly itself now costing
Rs 1365 crore which will have to be updated since the fast rate technology is
changing? Furthermore such perks in India where 80% of the people are
struggling to make ends meet? One such aircraft is reportedly due to arrive
next week and another end of the year. Where do our priorities lie? I was
shocked to see a photo in the newspaper of Margao town police giving a guard of
honor in uniform to idol of Lord Ganesh before immersion procession on sunday!
Where are we heading with patronized communally oriented police?

2020-08-24 Thread Nelson Lopes
S.C.infalible?
The decision of SC judgments are binding on all courts This will avoid
conflicts of deviation and uphold the order of law uniformly The benches of
S.C with no of judges on the bench is to ensure against bias and reasoned
order and erase human errors. This is exactly the provision of review is
factored
When four judges of SC in press conference openly expressed anguish . did
they commit contempt . This is unprecedented in the annals of S.C .Does it
scandalize the sanctity of trust, process and performance of the court. Why
did that matter was treated by kid gloves by judicial system? Tthere was
not even iota of dissent on that issue by the learned council Well it was
covered, protected by freedom of speech and expression under the
constitution, as the companion judges enjoy privilege and immunity That
protest and revolt was given a quiet burial

When lady officer of the court complained about sexual harassment by CJI.
It was thrown out as without merit and substance and CJI is exonerated.
The CJI sat on judgement in his own case himself against himself and
legally it was right but would be contempt if questioned on the propriety
of such decision. He did not recluse himself. can bias per se be
ruled out even remotely .Fortunately she has been reinstated, which
implies her basic accusations of serious nature against CJI were
malafide, aimed at defaming and lowering the reputation There was no
admonishment or strictures passed against her for maligning , defaming
the highest authority of CJI with salacious, malicious intent
SOME one needs to enlighten whether the court can make i, grant relief
by it's own prayer when it is not the pleaded at anytime during dependency
of the case Ot is the recent judgment on religious dispute

Is what is below the ground the basis of judgement than what is above it
fior 3 centuries and more Is there any content material to indicate
historically that structure was demolished to build another
What is the position in law of right of adverse possession and period of
limitation Normally right to adverse possession is 12 years
unhindered, unencumbered possession for the above period with madrassa
court extending it to 3o years as settled law I am told
THE law on contempt is archaic British insertion in the statutes to
stress their superiority complex, protect themselves and to legally shut
dissent It must be reviewed and abolished Everyone in public service must
be ready and willing to accept and adjust to criticism fairly and not
mow down dissent with iron hand to serve as deterrent
To err is human and judges as human are no exception
IS it right for any judicial officer, however old the matter be pending
to set a deadline for finalisation , deadline before hos own retirement
Is there a precedent of this nature?
Can any judicial officer accept perks accommodation driver apart from his
retirement benefit immediately after retirement is there any such
precedent of a windfall or largesse.whichcanbe inferred as return favour
of previous position It may be perfectly legal but morally and ethically
undesirable Further accepting Govt nomination to further benefit from
such posting is again emphasizing admiration and recognition of beneficial
outcomes

Here’s a little something I did to spread awareness about #MYMOLLEM
campaign. I would love it if you could share this around as much as you
can. This goes out to every Goan, non-Goan, every individual that has
always wanted to visit Goa & admires this beautiful state.

We boast about how Goa is not only about beaches and how we are blessed
with a large part of the Western Ghats. What will be boast about when these
forests are also wiped out? The 3 proposed projects will not only lead to a
large scale destruction of wildlife of Mollem National Park & Mahaveer
Wildlife Sanctuary but also affect Goa’s waterways tremendously.

While we stay in our homes during the lockdown, many species will be losing
theirs. In the sanctuary resides 235 species of birds,219 species of
butterflies, 44 species of fish, 27 species of amphibians, 80 species of
odonates, 75 species of ants, 721 species of plants and so much more. We

[Goanet] PRESIDENTSHIO OF INC

2020-08-24 Thread Nelson Lopes
THE BJP is more worried about post of Congress President . Why are they so
worried it is understandable as only UPA can give them jitters. It us the
internal party issue not for BJP to rant. While Congress is accused of
being family party BJP is ruled by one and half person In BJP none dares
to make any policy statement. Even the most senior Ministers only echo
his master's voice in unison and in blind support .There is no democracy
in the party. Those who dare to raise fee ble voices even are shown the
door.into political wilderness
REMBER that Indira Ghandi did her own party, so much so it was ridiculed
that I is Indira and I is also India. IT WAS CHRISTENED Congress I.. The
dissidents who left disappeared into oblivion of history .Congress S.
CONGRESS O. GOA CONGRESS etc HAD BUT FLEETING existence. AS INC was
becoming irrelevant and rudderless they merged with Congress I ( Indira)
and naturally INC lost identity , as assets reverted to Indira Congress but
the INC became Indira Congress. Hence it is indeed Private party of
Gandhi family that survived after merger . Because it was without
effective leader Congressmen took shelter under Indira Gandhi umbrella for
their survival No one leader has all India popularity and not even in
their own states, depending heavily upon Gandhi family. Sonia was forced
out to take the role. And Congress survived. .Rahul Gandhi was also
forced to take up the leadership with reluctance . He too has resigned
owning moral responsibility for defeat and has refused point blank to
return . PRIYANKA TOO has not shown any inkling for the top post hence
it is open vacancy. Once again the leadership was thrust upon reluctant
Sonia as interim President and still Sonia under pressure continues .Who
is preventing any Congressman from taking up the leadership with confidence
For a brief period non Ghandi members of the Congress party took .charge
and cannot say with confidence that they relished their positions and took
party forward.
BJP is but one man rule, Let there be change in BJP head and see how it
tumbles down like nine pins .RSS and BJP depend and invest exclusively
solely upon one person to deliver and they are happy and contended to be
faithful followers like sheep to slaughter house
Whether there should be change at the top or not or is left to the Congress
democratic party and to no one else. It is the decision of the cadres
and not outsiders who have axe to grind , fearing the popularity ,
challenge of the family .Those who are stiffled could leave and form their
own political outfit and test the political waters There are internal
muffled feeble voices demanding change ,others discussions and there ar e
still those who repose unconditional faith and allegiance to the family
The Presidentship of Congress Party is the internal matter of Congress and
not a public debate and demand
If the Congress rises or sinks the party members will decide

Dear Frederick,
As I mentioned previously, I don't have any social networks, except WhatsApp
and email.
Can you please suggest another way to subscribe to the petition?
Thanks.
Warmly,

[Goanet] Bible verse for the Day

2020-08-24 Thread Devak Argham
B.I.B.L.E - Behold I Bring Life Eternal
***

1John:7-9
=

7 But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, then we have
fellowship with one another, and the blood of his Son Jesus cleanses us
from all sin.

8 If we say, “We are without sin,” we deceive ourselves, and the truth is
not in us.

9 If we acknowledge our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our
sins and cleanse us from every wrongdoing.
